The Seeds Of Doom Classic Figure Set – Pictures

The Seeds Of Doom: 4th Doctor & Krynoid 2 Pack

Two alien seed pods are found buried in the Antarctic permafrost. The Fourth Doctor, accompanied by Sarah-Jane Smith, realises that they are from a Krynoid, a form of voracious plant life that infects and transforms all animal life on planets upon which it becomes established.

One of the pods opens and infects a scientist at an Antarctic base but the developing Krynoid is destroyed by a bomb set to cover the tracks of two men, Scorby and Keeler, who have made off with the other pod for their boss, eccentric plant collector Harrison Chase.

The second pod infects Keeler and he also becomes a Krynoid, rapidly growing to giant proportions. UNIT are called in, and they arrange for the Krynoid to be bombed before it can spread its pods across the Earth.

Hey, I know this seems like a big deal beacuse there hasn’t been any new 5″ figures for about half a year or more.

But DONOT get excited. A new one has been spotted, you can view it on Dr Who toys.net

I think it’s a fake, it’s a 5th Doctor set and it says “1981-89” ? ❓ And it has the Master’s Tardis, it SAYS it includes the Master but I don’t see him .

The Doctor is just a reetool of the regenerated 5th Doctor, probably still with the boots on. 🙁

Yep, the boots are still on. LAME, not getting it, what a cheap set, not worth it.

Anyway, I’m on holiday for two weeks now ! See ya later, have some good news for me by the time I get back ! 😆

Yeah, the Krynoid and accesories are good.

It’s been almost five months now since character released any figures, for 5″ Series 6 or the classic series.

VERY dissapointing as I was hoping for more Series 6 figures, there haven’t been enough of them when you consider how much they usually make and the amount of GOOD figures that could have been made. Some of the figures WERE good like Idris and the Cybermen, and the Eleventh Doctor.

But why is there no Minotaur, the Doctor in his longcoat or Dorium, Amy, Madame Kovarian or Handbots ❓

In my dream last night, I had bought this set (even though it’s not a set that I want, and you know why I don’t want it) and I had bought it because there was no other sets at forbidden planet, and after buying it I realised I should have saved that £24 and put it towards the Invasion of Time set. 🙁

Can’t tell you how relieved I was after waking up and realising I hadn’t bought it. Phew ! 😆

You’re mad, a pint of beer accessory ? Some of the suggestions I see are bonkers.

We need the Drathro Robot and Sixth Doctor in red waistcoat and hair and neckwear from “Trial of a Timelord”, and the Valeyard. (thinking Oh yeah ! 😉 )

We need Ace and one of the cat people and maybe the Master from Survival.

We need a Fifth Doctor in Jumper with the Master from “The King’s Demons” (ever seen the sword fight in that story ?)

And a jacketless Sixth Doctor from Terror of the Vervoids and some Vervoids from that story.

      A plastic beer ? No.

      April 29th, 2012 - 5:42pm

You mean Colin Baker ? Yes, I read your post that thursday, thanks for letting me know !

he had five copies of the same radio times magazine, and he had no taste in Dr Who whatso ever, just bought anything with Dr Who on it really, and did not even open his figures ! ❗

Colin Baker was the highlight of the show, he’s a top guy, my favourite actor in the world. Seeing him on normal, live TV was a first for me.

    • BOOBOO JR

      April 29th, 2012 - 5:47pm

I watched that too. But how can you appreciate your figures when you don’t even open them 🙁 Yes they’ll be worth more but that isn’t the point!!!

    • McGann is the Doctor

Exactly, and he also had nothing to say about Dr Who, apart from (puts on really lame Dalek voice)”Exterminate ! Exterminate !!” such an embarassment for us fans, people watching that will think all Dr Who fanatics are unhealthily obsessed saddos, 🙁

    • McGann is The Doctor.

      April 7th, 2012 - 3:01pm

(pay attention, there’s a point to this: ) I’ve been away for a week or so and came back hoping there would be a new , better, classic set announced.

But there hasn’t been, alas. My favourite, most wanted set ever would be a Trial of a Timelord set with a 1986 Doctor, wearing his outfit, new head sculpt and the big Robot from Parts 1-4 and I want the Valeyard. I would go bannanas for that. 😀

There is said to be a Jo Grant set, probably a two-figure set. ❓ And a Yeti, in the making. That’s all I’ve heard, it could take a long time.

    • Renegade Dalek

      April 8th, 2012 - 8:24am

Mcgann is the doctor, thanks for your reply.

When you say ‘a Jo Grant set, probably a two-figure set.’ what do you think the second figure will be, in that set?

      Kind regards

      Renegade Dalek

    • McGann is the Doctor

      April 17th, 2012 - 11:50am

Oh, ugh, sorry I didn’t get back sooner. I suspect (and hope it will be) an Ogron, that was her favourite monster ! Seriously, it was !

If not, then lets have a, uhhhh, I dunno, I haven’t seen alot of the Jon Pertwee episodes, some people said a Dalek and it will be a Day of the Daleks set, but that will be rubbish if it’s just a two figure set.

Day of the Daleks would need atleast three figures, the Doctor, an Ogron a Dalek, so I hope this Jo Grant figure won’t be a Dalek two pack. We’ll see.. ❓

    • McGann is the Doctor

      April 17th, 2012 - 11:52am

For now, character are taking a break, making more stuff.

I don’ know when we’ll get some new stuff, but for now, let’s just catch up ! 😆

    • Anonymous

      April 18th, 2012 - 4:29pm

The next releases will be at the SDCC in July, there will be a new series exclusive (probablly Rory) and at least one classic exclusive (and as Katy Manning has said two Jo Grant figures are currently being made it seems likely at least one of them will come out).

As for what is coming with the Jo figure, nobody really knows. One of the jo figures was the costume from The Three Doctors, although that might be the second one that comes out.

    • McGann is the Doctor

      April 25th, 2012 - 11:09am

I hate that outfit in the Three Doctors, the one from Frontier in Space is way better. 😛

And Rory will hopefully be released with another figure from Series 6, I hope it’s a Doctor in his costume.

There’v been two many rubbish figures in Series 6, Uncle was pointless, the retooled Cybermen looked good but there weren’t enough new figures, the Silence, 11th Doctor with new hair and posability and Idris were the only new Series 6 figures.

The inaccurate repainted Ood and the inaccurate rubbish “Doctor in Cowboy hat” were the worst.

    • McGann is the Doctor

      April 25th, 2012 - 11:12am

The Doctor in Straightjacket and Doctor’s Ganger stretchy flesh were good, and the Junk Tardis was excellent.

But no Minotaur, Doctor in Longcoat or eyepatch of the Handbots.

Madame Kovarian, Dorium, Headless monks are other possible good figures, but character need to make the Doctor in longcoat, and another one with the stettson, Rory a new Amy and River (eventually) and the Minotaur first. 😉

    • McGann is the Doctor

      May 3rd, 2012 - 3:33pm

Happiness will prevail, that’s kind of changing the subject, but so would I .

I want there to be figures from the Trial of a Timelord , with a 1986 Colin Baker Sixth Doctor, they could make his costume more accurate and a new head sculpt, and release him with the multi coloured umbrella.

And for the Master, I want the Anthony Ainley Master in his usual outfit which has yet to be released, and a Doctor from Kings Demons with his jumper on: http://images.wikia.com/tardis/images/b/b3/FiveCoatlessLooksLeft.jpg

I would have gone for the set I need the most.

Already have the 11 Doctors set= Don’t get this

Already have Leela from the Invasion of time ?= Don’t get Image of the Fendahl set

Don’t have any other Imperial Daleks ? = No point getting the Remembrance set.

Personally I’m not getting any of these sets because I don’t like them, the Davros is inaccurate (see the face) but if I had to choose, the best one is Image of the Fendahl. 😉 Enjoy whichever one you get though.

A new figure of Paul McGann’s Doctor, with maybe a smile on his face (the original 8th Doctor figure has a swappable head you know ! :D) and no jacket. http://pics.livejournal.com/honorarydoctor/pic/0009k6es/s320x240

Or they could just paint him to look more accurate to the costume of the movie, have the waistcoat diffrent colour. And we do need another Sylvestor Mccoy figure, the TV movie 7th Doctor, YES YES YES ! 😀

    • Anonymous

      April 13th, 2012 - 7:31am

Another Eighth Doctor would be good but I think Grace Holloway isn’t a proper companion as she was in an American production of what used to be a British show so all the actors and actresses (except Paul McGann and Sylvester McCoy) were American. Probably why tthey won’t EVER release her and probably why we Brits took back DW straight after the movie. How about a ‘The Deadly Assassin’ set with Doctor in Time Lord robes, the Master and some others*?

      *Not sure who though!

I’m back guys and I’m using a different laptop. Just to comment on this set, I think it’s pretty cheap. The Krynoid is just an Axon figure but that was what it was like in the first place except the other way round. And that doctor is just the 11 doctors set 4th doctor with a sword. Definately a cheaper, lower-budget set but that is paying off at the moment. Great to be back guys!

That improves it! Its good they made more tweeks because the same figure just in green would be a little sad.

      Doesn’t look like it. :/

If I were you, I wouldn’t prioritise this particular set, even for £24 it’s not the best value for the Doctor is completely unchanged and re-used from the Eleven Doctor’s set.

You know it (the figure) could have been changed to atleast have a different paint on the coat, his coat in the episode is much darker so I thought they would have changed it ❗
