Doctor Who The Other (War) Doctor 5″ Figure

Available to order from www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk

The ‘Other Doctor’ is the Doctor’s dark chapter, an _hitherto unknown incarnation whose existence he has spent centuries repressing, a secret he wants no one to know of.

He is a relic of the past, part of the great Time War, when he spent centuries fighting alongside his fellow Time Lords against the Daleks and made the final decision to end it with a desperate act that cost that incarnation the right to use the name “Doctor”.

This haunted and battle-worn Other Doctor is finally forgiven after helping find a new solution to end the war, giving the Eleventh Doctor a new purpose as he heads into further adventures.

To be honest when I started collecting doctor who action figures I thought it was a pretty niche thing. I knew some people did it but I did not realize it was this big. Seeing the demand around this figure really shows just how large this collecting fandom is.

I think the big thing with this figure is its a “one off”

A must have figure in any Doctor Who collection

A lot of other releases you can pick and choose between variants

I ordered mine ‘buy it now’ last night on eBay from a co. called Radar Toys in New Jersey for around £35 all in inc. postage. Been dispatched already so I reckon it should be here within a couple of weeks. If the above company sells out quick (I believe they’re based in Suffolk), you can always use Radar who I dealt with. It just goes to show that it’s worth waiting and hanging rather than paying silly money on Amazon and eBay like what’s happened in the past. £50-60 quid… No chance I would ever pay that when the original RRP was only £15.

Ah yes. ABOUT TIME! I know its only. But! I did phone fp and they said to me a few months ago to me that they are going to try and get restocks. As well if anyone else goes to Manchester FP leave a comment. I so will betaking no chances on leaving this. Apparently according to Fp. ” Were trying to get the manufactures to go back into making more stock” that’s all I got off them on the phone but they did say they were trying hard to get them back in stock. So Who- nose. Just praying they do! Then I will have ago at some scenes from TDOTD. 🙂

From Entertainment Earth, it’s about £13 + a LOT of postage.

    • booboo

      August 28th, 2014 - 12:59pm

did they ship it to the UK? – i tried last night and it would not expect my UK address?

    • Anonymous

      August 28th, 2014 - 4:16pm

      Alert No Shipping Method Available:
Item(s) in your cart have restricted shipping and cannot be shipped to the address you selected.

This is the message that came up when I tried to order. MrHaloWho how did you manage to order yours to the UK? Final value inc. postage came to $53 but it wouldn’t let me progress with the order unless I changed my postage address.

    • booboo

      August 28th, 2014 - 4:19pm

      that happened to me

$53 is ok that’s about £32 and their price is below import costs as well

bet this is down to licensing again

    • Anonymous

      August 28th, 2014 - 4:25pm

Apologies if I sound thick but what has licensing got to do with it? It’s a product that they say they’re prepared to ship internationally so what’s the big deal? My money is as good as anyone else’s.

    • booboo

      August 28th, 2014 - 4:32pm

as its supplied by underground toys under a USA licence Entertainment Earth may take the view that they cannot ship to the UK as it would “tread on UK Retailers toes”

Forbidden planet International wont ship exclusives to the USA for the same reasons

May sound stupid but others will tell you there are many items that retailers wont ship to the UK because of “Licensing restrictions”

some companies obviously turn a blind eye

Cheers BooBoo. What a joke! I’ve just emailed Entertainment Earth to ask why so I’ll post the reply once I get it. I’m still wondering how MrHaloWho got his though.

    • booboo

      August 28th, 2014 - 4:38pm

yes i would be interest in what they say if you could leave a comment when they reply

on another note the USA was completely excluded from some classic sets a few years ago because FP could not ship to them

      Dear Oliver,

Thank you for your e-mail. At this time, the licensor of this item, The BBC, does not authorize Entertainment Earth to deliver this merchandise outside of the USA. We cannot deliver internationally. The only option here would be if we could deliver your desired items to an associate of yours in the USA. They could then deliver it to you in your country as a private individual. Sorry that we cannot assist more so.

Please feel free to contact us at any time with any issues as they arise. Thank you for your interest in Entertainment Earth.

exactly as i thought – EE are sticking to the rules,as do think geek

all this does however is to give ebay and Amazon sellers an excuse to inflate the prices

    • Ollie

      August 29th, 2014 - 8:48am

A lot of rare sets are being reissued again for sale at retail prices; time warrior, invasion of time, keeper of traken etc. Only matter of time before war doctor comes out again I reckon.

    • booboo

      August 29th, 2014 - 8:56am

not rare in the USA, WHOna have all those sets reduced, some drastically – UT have probably dumped a load out in the UK as no one else wants them.

WHOna also have many sets reduced that have become rare in the UK.

FP don’t make them, CO do ~ By way of UT’s decision making process in the US

FP are given the Exclusive right to sell them in the UK as a Business Proposition

£14.99p is not overpriced whereas a certain other figure at £30 certainly is

They weren’t produced in small quantities ~ A minimum run of at least 90,000 would be financially viable

from the ebay seller £42 total if it gets picked up

EE wont ship to UK – typical as their price is below import costs so would only be about £31

whona would work out about £46 i think but you will need to check their postal cost

we really do get shafted all ways round here – we don’t mind vat its the £8 handling that’s the killer

    • booboo

      August 28th, 2014 - 5:58am

at 20% vat to the total price (including shipping) then £8 costs
