In Colour – The Troughton Hartnell Adventures (clips)

The Hartnell / Troughton Adventures in Colour – @ 50 with babelcolour

From BabelColour

Fifty years ago the TARDIS materialised on TV. The most miraculous of adventures confined to 405 lines of grey.

But now the doorway to colour has been pushed ajar and each of us can peek through the crack at the miracles of the Universe freed from the shadows of black and white.

Created by hand, frame-by-frame, in Adobe Photoshop.

It would be nice to see one Hartnell story and one Troughton story in colour just out of interest but I suspect it would be too expensive to do all the stories that exist. Still, an interesting idea and looks very good

      Heres my ideas.
      hartnell: The aztecs.
Troughton: The tomb of the cybermen.

WOW, I am officially freaked out to see this stuff in colour.

If only they could have all the William Hartnell stories from put in colour, I’d watch em all ! ❗

As remarkable as these videos are, and as talented as Babelcolour is, to me these episode belong in black and white.

They somehow lose something when colourised, the same with classic films like Casablanca or Gone with the Wind.

That aside, his craft is outstanding, and his work on the Pertwee stories should be celebrated as a turning point in the history of the series – who’d have thought back in the 1990s that one day we’d be able to watch all those episodes in the colour they were meant to be seen in?

i agree with you, they are not truly as classic when colourised, i prefer them in black and white 🙂

Because, in my opinion, the beauty of the black and white stories is their monochrome. They were made like that and, for completists it would be wrong for them to be in colour. This clips are wonderful though, congratulations 🙂

They can barely afford to hand colourise 1 episode (babelcolour took on mind of evil ep 1 as a loss leader to establish himself) let alone 12

it’s hardly worth releasing them again just for them to be in colour

gordon, i know this is irreverent, but if they were to start releasing season box sets for the classic series (in a couple of years time), would you buy them? (considering they have released certain episodes 2 or 3 times)

All depends on if there is new content. I have all released titles so far and if it is a straight reissue no but if it does have new content i would consider it depending on what the new content is. Even though i doubt this will happen i would love if they released boxes/books to put the dvds in (similar to the book that the james bond blu rays set would be nice) but also avalable seperatly from the dvds for those that already have the dvds but dont want to buy the dvds again
