The Doctor Who Figurine Collection Magazine Special 2

Doctor-Who-Figurine-SpecialDoctor Who Figurine Collection Special

On sale Thursday 27th March 2014 £15.99

From the world’s longest-running sci-fi TV show comes the second special in the Doctor Who Figurine Collection: the Slitheen.

Disguised as members of the British establishment, these aliens from Raxacoricofallapatorius engineer a global panic in order to obtain the codes for Britain’s nuclear arsenal.

With the weapons they plan to turn Earth into radioactive scrap and sell it! This member of the Slitheen family is a detailed replica from the 2005 story Aliens in London/World War Three. Standing 85mm tall, it was recreated using both the costume and computer-generated versions of the Slitheen seen in the adventure!

Given what has been said, evidence from other collections and so on and so forth, it seems almost a certainty the next two specials will be:

      The Face of Boe
      K-1

Don’t know which way round they’ll release them, but those two are almost certainly next. Beyond that it is anyone’s guess.

It has never been explicitly stated anywhere on screen. There could be any number of explanations for what it is a bone, a vein, part of the pump the actors inside the suit used to operate the fingers…

Right I subscribed today from issue 8 and the premium edition is the postage good because a lot of people have said about them breaking which worries me someone help !!!!!!!!! And will someone give me some details on gifts and daleks

    • booboo

      February 28th, 2014 - 5:23pm

      generally its OK

you will hear about breakages but people tend to post when things go wrong more than when things go right!

presumably you wall have to pay an additional £7 to get the premium Daleks in full

the free gifts are per delivery (not issues) so expect the emperor with your 4th delivery that’s 3-4 months, in the mean time you will get a stand and binder.

    • Run you clever boy

      February 28th, 2014 - 5:34pm

Thanks booboo mind is settled also I’ve ordered the premium subscription so when will the first one arrive and I ordered from issues 8 because I got all the other issues and then stopped so need to catch up, with issues 8,9,10,11,12,13.14 will I get them in one go??? Thanks

    • booboo

      February 28th, 2014 - 5:56pm

not normally, you would get 2 per delivery every 4 weeks

    • KNs47

      March 1st, 2014 - 3:55pm

If you’ve ordered them as back issues you could get them all in one go, but if they’ve added them on as part of your sub, then they send them out quicker with more than one delivery a month till you catch up.

We’ve already had one of the Premium sub Daleks send out, if you’ve jumped onto the premium sub late have you specifically asked how you get the Dalek you’ve now missed? As Booboo said you might need to pay the missing £1s.

    • Anonymous

      March 2nd, 2014 - 11:34pm

If you miss the jumping on point it looks like they won’t send you out the one you missed, but they won’t back charge you for it either.

They say you will need to pay the amount of money to make up for the Daleks you will receive, although I’m not sure if they’ll actually do that.

Come on there are far more impressive thinks than that …how about the Macra ? Or a full scale Drashing or a war machine ? Or Arcturus ??

The Mara would be very near the bottom of my list of desired classics Im afraid…I cant stand those snakes stories and Kinda saw a lot of class actors landed in a ludicrous nonsensical script….

I think they do. The standard issues are all ratioed the same (1:24 I think) Although the prototype of the slitheen made it look bigger than it’s TV counterpart (although I coulb be wrong)

      February 25th, 2014 - 2:26pm

If their previous figurine collection (based on Marvel Comics) is anything to go by, the specials can be placed into three cateogries:

      Specials (larger figures)

Mega Specials (scaled down figures of huge characters, still larger than regular specials though, look at the Emperor Dalek for an example)

Twin Pack (two regular sized figures released together)

I would presume this is the same here.

    • nimons jelly babies

      February 28th, 2014 - 9:59pm

I doubt that is true as this states it is only 85mm tall, some of the normal figurines are 100mm or larger so i’m not sure where they got the scale from for this particular figurine. Looks alright anyway and i’ll get it because i want to complete the collection, not overly excited about it though. Seems like a bit of a waste for a special.

      March 2nd, 2014 - 4:26pm

But if you look at the pictures you can see it is considerably larger in its width and breadth (its base is far larger than any other figurine in the collection). It may have the same height as the others, but its other dimensions mean it is considerably larger than the rest.
