Sontaran on Horseback Launch St Albans Saturday 22nd April

From www.scificollectorshop.co.uk

Figurines The Black Guardian, Vinder, Ood Elder & Azure #220-223 are available to order as a group via scificollector from www.ebay.co.uk or www.scificollectorshop.co.uk

This is confirmation of the launch of the Sontaran on Horseback at our St Albans store this weekend. The shop will be open from 9am, and we continue to boast the largest broadest stock of Doctor Who Eaglemoss available ANYWHERE which will hopefully make a trip to see us even more enjoyable, and we very much look forward to seeing you.

We will be permitting customers to purchase a maximum of 2 examples. We know from last time that there were many genuine requests for a second copy for friends who couldnt make it on the day and we dont want to thwart this.

Visitors will be entitled to choose a free gift, being either an Eaglemoss boxed 2 piece set or the 13th Doctor and Companions set: neither will be supplied with magazines.

There will be a free 2 piece sent out with pre-orders as well once the facility goes live which will happen in the next few days. This fits our existing packaging, whereas the 13th Doctor set does not hence it being available as a promo only on the day. The free item will ONLY be sent to those customers ordering through our SCIFICOLLECTORSHOP website.

These free items are among the re-stocks ordered by Eaglemoss which we were required to purchase at full price in order to secure the unissued figures.

We will also be previewing further new releases on Saturday, which will become available for pre-order towards the end of the month, and during May and June.

It’s going to be a pricey week with this and the superb Harrops Terileptil on Friday. Im trying hard to resist the beautiful eaglemoss stargazer master replicas are selling.

Tell me about it! Just as well it’s the end of the month. I’m so pleased that I don’t collect any other franchise as I’d be in utter penury! Looking forward to seeing what else the dregs of Eaglemoss turn up though.

By the way the free figurines from SF Collector are only from the range of twin packs, such as the Time Lord sets. Folk who went to the shop could also choose a larger set such as Thirteenth Doc and Companions.

Yeah, if you attended the Shop yesterday you could pick a 4 pack as a Freebie. But online it looks like you’ll only get the Doctor and Companion Two Pack. (Ah Well).

Nice to see you back here Coleman!

I think they said the packing they use wouldn’t fit a four pack so mail order get a two pack only. I suspect a glut of these will be on eBay very soon! Probably where mine will end up.

Dont think there’s much chance of getting the Revenge Cyberman with the relay pack, the restraint in the box marked the paint on mine . But I get the feeling its a rarer item.

I did think as a non Mega collector we might have got 2 regular unreleased figurines. However the stike figurine looks great. Ordered the Skaak special.

Looking like Stike and Mega death dalek for next 2 preorders. That should free up some cash as i dont collect the megas but that dalek does look gorgeous.

The Fendahl pack must be stashed somewhere – I’m sure it was ‘posted’ before the ‘Death’ mega. However the Death to the Daleks colouration is one of my favourites and they look lethal with those machine guns. Reckon there’ll be some rush for those.

What about the normal sized Guardian at over 30 quid ?

  • Doug Who

    April 19th, 2023 - 5:24pm

I’m excited to see what’s coming. If it is the Executioner Dalek and Stike I’ll be very pleased. I keep hoping (possibly against hope) the Axon Monster and Fendahl Set made it to production but I suppose only time will tell.

I wonder what happened to any moulds (and 3D files) for the figurines that didn’t go into production and if there is the remotest possibilities they may be used in future.

Not sure about the Executioner dalek – but the others you mention ,Doug, are the ones I’d really like especially the Fendahl set. Meanwhile I’m hoping the Guardian is released as a single item soon. Fingers crossed. Despite its cost I reckon that Sontaran on horseback is going to ‘fly’ even I as a classics ‘only’ fan one that one.

Just nice to get another Dalek!

It’s a lot to fork out after the last four but you could be right about the Sontaran special Quark. With some now appearing on Master Replicas too, it does make you wonder how many were made.

As Timelord63 says, the days when these specials were twenty quid (and the figurines seven quid) seems a very, very long time ago now! How times have changed!

Looks like they’ll be showing off Executioner Dalek and General Stike in store as it’s been confirmed by ex Eaglemoss staff that they went into production before Azure.

Only those 2? If they have weeping angel doctor, passenger and axon creature, even The fendahl set, why dont they just put those up also. Its a bit tedious if they have these as well. It would be dragging it out. If its over lets have the final lot.

      April 19th, 2023 - 5:57pm

Unless the plan is release dalek and stike alongside skaak on horseback and they have the image set to release with the final 3.

    • Doug Who

      April 19th, 2023 - 6:57pm

Stike and and the Dalek were the two intended to be released after Azure (224 & 225) so maybe these were the last into production? We just don’t know if anything after that like the Thal, Weeping Angel Doctor etc were mass produced. Not even seen a sample for the Thal.

I really hope more have been made and in particular the Fendahl set which I would really love to see.

Releasing them in smaller batches would make it a bit more affordable for many. That last hit for 100 quid was a lot especially when budgets are stretched just now for lots of folk.

Im pretty sure those prototypes on their dusty hexagonal bases will be the surprise few that made it through. As there were no images of the thal or anything after the axon creature , it would seem less likely anything else will show up. They had those few 3D images of the sea Devil etc of course but thats all they look to be. No other images have been revealed up to 250.

      April 19th, 2023 - 7:19pm

No ,sorry , i forgot the thal was shown i have that image saved, so yes maybe that too could make it through as well as the others up to 230.

    • Doug Who

      April 19th, 2023 - 7:54pm

Was the Thal shown? I missed that one! Where was it if you can remember?

Ben did once say if promotional images were out there, it was ‘likely’ (but not definite) that they had been made. I really hope the Fendahl is out there somewhere.

Only up to 241 had been confirmed in terms of rights clearance and a couple of others such as the Roboman and ‘War Games’ Time Lord. But of course none of those had been made.

      April 19th, 2023 - 9:29pm

There could be more than the 224 and 225 but on the facebook group those 2 were confirmed to have definitely gone into production.

      Roll on Saturday.

It would have helped if Scifi informed us in advance so people could budget as they obviously know what figurines are coming. Surely they didn’t pay for a container without knowing its contents.

I haven’t decided whether to get 220 onwards just yet although as I only display the daleks I might get 225 once it’s available separately.

Doug its the Roboman not the thal i have. sorry about that.

      April 20th, 2023 - 9:32am

No worries! I wondered – didn’t the Thal had been shown but would be interesting to know what it would have looked like. It must have been at a fairly advanced stage. Would have been nice to have another Hartnell era figurine from the very early days.

      April 20th, 2023 - 1:31pm

I know there werent pictures but would love it if issue 228 the Haemovore made it into production if limited. Theres nothing like being kept in suspense.

    • Doug Who

      April 20th, 2023 - 2:03pm

      That would be amazing!

I don’t know whether it’s tantalising or frustrating seeing images of what might have been. Perhaps a wee bit of both.

It would be great to see which Haemovore they went with and what the Thal would have looked like. There seems to be a suggestion of releases over the next few months but all so vague at the moment. As you say there’s nothing like suspense!

      April 23rd, 2023 - 10:20pm

Thats more reassuring that there were painted samples of the Thal and haemovore. I,m almost praying these turn up in a shipment container very soon and in abundance. In fact i,d like to think most of those on that list are found all the way to the end even the odd Specials.
