Booboo, when do you think B&M sets will come out and what would you like to see in them this year?

I do like the B&M sets. Unfortunately, my Master figure’s coat was ripped down the side and my Leela’s hand was uneven at the top (it looked like it had been ripped away from whatever it was stuck to prior to being attached to my figure). Is anyone else having these problems?

drawing a complete blank on any info on the Bill figure, I suspect it was caught up in the UT demise so may struggle to get released now unless someone takes it on as an exclusive or is part of a future range.

It’s nice to see they’re at least planning on releasing a Bill figure. I’ve honestly given up hope of seeing any new monster figures, but it would be nice to at least have the Thirteenth Doctor and Nardole in toy form.

Is there any chance of an emojibot figure being available as an accessory with this, as it would be quite small, and would not neccessarily need articulation (I know the head, arms and legs could move but only slightly. It would not be escential) they could even include two, one smiling and one with a skull face.

I don’t know about the Emoji Bot. Maybe, seeing as some figures (the Slitheen, Captain Jack, Magnus Greel) did come with other, smaller figures (Space Pig, Empty Child and Mr Sin), so it’s possible. It would be really nice Bill came with an Emoji bot. Maybe they could have the face as a card insert which you can pull out and flip over to show a different expression.

    • booboo

      January 2nd, 2018 - 8:10am

at the time it was said the licence holders were annoyed by the leaked imaged as they hadn’t been consulted and refused permission for it to be released

it was then said much later that it wasn’t cost effective to produce

I doubt we will ever know the actual truth

    • Brian Artillery

      January 13th, 2018 - 8:04pm

The Yeti’s creator, Henry Lincoln really hates his ideas being used by other people. That’s why the Yeti have never been used since the 1960’s, and why you’ll never see The Dominators or their Quark robots again. He just won’t allow their use. I expect the same happened with the Yeti figure. Oh, that would be cool. I’d definitely have bought four or five of them.

Well she said in the tweet #watchthisspace which makes me think we’ll definitely see this figure as part of a wave. The question is when we’ll see any proof, Toy Fair in January seems likely and if it is part of a wave what the other figures are.

  • whovian

    December 29th, 2017 - 9:00am

Just gotta have this figure. The only critique I have is that it would look better wearing Bill’s jacket, and the top looks painted on instead of being moulded on, although that could just be the way I’m looking at it. Just hope that this figure doesn’t go the way of the 12th Doctors TARDIS and Clara Oswald. That being they’re ridiculously overpriced

Good to see a figure of Bill, but awkward to release it
    a) after Pearl/Bill has left the show
    b) after Christmas

With the absence of the smaller figures, it does feel that they’ve completely abdicated the children’s market for the time being

    • Bundy

      December 29th, 2017 - 12:04am

Awkward timing indeed – a gate and a bolting horse come to mind. Surely the optimum time to release a figure is whilst the character is still current and the show is still on the air. Other than for the ardent collector, who did ‘Ten in a Tux’ appeal to in the midst of the PC era? No wonder stockists are proving a problem when they are being offered a figure of a character no longer in a series that is off the air for the next few months. B&M get away with it because they offer a 3 pack at a price not much different to what I expect will be the asking price for this single figure.
It is a great likeness, but I worry it may be too little too late to re-engage retailers and failing to get interest could possibly even be detrimental to future attempts to launch merchandise to tie in with the new series.

    • booboo

      December 29th, 2017 - 8:24am

I think the problem here is that with no USA distributor and a huge market on hold and with the toys r us situation there simply wasn’t enough people to sell it to.

As far as I can tell this prototype is well over 8 months old and i’m sure they intended it to be on sale by now but something has changed that.

A wave of figures I would like to see that mixes new, re-issue and tweaked figures:

    1. Twelfth Doctor – Red Coat
    2. Bill Potts – Smile
    3. Nardole
    4. Missy – Series 10
    5. The Master – Series 10
    6. Mondasian Cyberman

    Regeneration Set:
    1. Twelfth Doctor – Xmas 2017 (Battered/wounded)
    2. Twelfth Doctor – Regenerated

    Flight Control TARDIS sets:
    1. Twelfth Doctor – Xmas 2017 with TARDIS
    2. First Doctor with TARDIS

These releases could take us up to September/October until the new series starts.

    December 27th, 2017 - 12:36pm

Well, seeing as everyone else is doing ideal wave of figure threads here is mine:

Bill (definately happening, as we’ve got an image of a prototype above (thanks Pearl!))
    The 12th Doctor
    The 13th Doctor (regenerated)
The Master (Series 10, with swap-able Razor head)
    2013 – 2017 Cyberman
    Ice Warrior (NuWho)

Sets (well, set as there is only the one)
    Christmas Special set:
    The First Doctor (David Bradley)
    Mondasian Cyberman (2017 version)
TARDIS (4th Doctor and TARDIS repaint with new lamp)

I tried not to go too unrealistic, going for very big and important characters and figures which CO have the scans for or can be made by tweaking pre-existing figure. As well as this, I limited myself to 6 figures in the wave, because I think 6 or 7 figures are usually as many as there are in a wave (if I had decided to go for 7 figures in a wave, I would have put Nardole as figure NO. 7).

The Christmas Special set is unlikely to happen, but I think it might be somewhat do able.

What I find most bizzarre, is character still have made no comment on the figure being made. If Pearl hadn’t mentioned it, we wouldn’t even know there was one being made. And yet, even after Pearl has posted a picture of the figure, they still haven’t made any comment about it. You’d think they would release it whilst series 10 was on air, not wait until Bill has left the show.
