December 11th, 2015 - 2:13pmGot my despatch notice from BBC Shop today, and they’re usually very fast, so I may well get it tomorrow!
This and the 8th Doctor were my most anticipated figures of the year so get them both before Christmas (and before the Sherlock special) is the icing on the cake.
I just have to think of something else to ask for for my birthday in January now…

December 11th, 2015 - 2:15pm*To* get them both, I meant.

December 10th, 2015 - 9:38pmI got mine last week. It’s such a great figure!

December 7th, 2015 - 3:49pmI’ve just noticed that FP have taken some money from my account, which is odd as this is the only thing I have on pre-order with them.
After phoning them they informed me that this item is now being processed so it may well be sent out before xmas!

December 8th, 2015 - 1:30pmNot on general display yet but I’ve just seen these being unboxed from a shipment in FP Cardiff!

September 17th, 2015 - 11:05pmI wonder if the head and scarf can be removed.
I plan to repaint the shirt and the scarf to match what was seen in episode of season 1.

November 14th, 2015 - 11:49amIf you look at the photos in the above link, you can see that the scarf has been removed.
Smeg Head
September 17th, 2015 - 4:03pmI wander weather they will do any other BBC show characters? Is my Doctor Who/Bergerac crossover still on the books?
GallifreyanKnight
September 17th, 2015 - 7:43pmI’d love to get a Kryten figure. 🙂
Never going to happen though, as BBC doesn’t hold the rights to Red Dwarf anymore, and as Dave would never ever get figures made. 🙁

November 14th, 2015 - 11:54amI’d like a wave of Sherlock figures.

-Moriarty
-Mary Morston
-Mrs Hudson
-Molly Hooper
-Mycroft Holmes
-Inspector Lestrade
Mad Psientist
December 11th, 2015 - 2:19pmNever mind Bergerac, where’s my Luther figure??
There was a point I’d have liked/hoped for some Jekyll and Hyde figures, but it seems to be doing so poorly ratings – wise I doubt it’ll happen now.

September 16th, 2015 - 11:11pmI’m slightly concerned by the arms. Does anyone know exactly how many points of articulation this has?
TheDarkAndTheLight
September 17th, 2015 - 2:36amThe bottom image appears to be some form of prototype with less articulation. The image above it shows the figure with standard elbow articulation and swivel joints on the biceps, as well as the old standard shoulder articulation present on both. I reckon it’ll have at least the same articulation as, for example, the Eleven Doctors set figures.
RhysCH
September 20th, 2015 - 12:25pmIn the top one I can see 4 points of articulation (shoulders, biceps, elbows, wrists). I don’t think there’s a ball joint at the shoulder though.

September 16th, 2015 - 8:52pmSo pleased I ordered from BBC with their free postage….I also ordered when they had a 15% discount. £11 is such great value….esp when you consider to pay £18.50 from FPI for the vastly inferior 12th Doctor figures.

September 16th, 2015 - 10:12pmAgreed!
booboo
September 16th, 2015 - 10:15pmof course the other side to this is the The Collectors range may not have happened at all without those involved and committing to it wanting a good return for their investment, but of course no one would think of that
Anonymous
September 16th, 2015 - 10:58pmIt’s a very good point, but I just can’t help feeling that ‘those involved’ fleece the hardcore collectors by putting out slight variants (meaning lower manufacturing costs) knowing that most of the collectors will buy all 4 versions, even though there are no accessories and the figure is ok to good at best. Yet they can put out an amazing Sherlock figure with cool accessories at a significantly lower cost – I believe its like this…they know the Sherlock figure wont have the same appeal so they have to price it carefully and make the set more attractive…whereas, although DW clearly don’t have a mass market appeal, they know fine well that the hardcore collectors (which is what exclusive deals are aimed at) will sell very well even if they are over priced and not great value for money. I myself will buy the 12th Doctor figure in all 4 variants even though it annoys me that I am essentially buying the exact same figure with different licks of paint on the shirt. Even if they give away a different accessory with each variant would be something…it would be a token gesture of them trying to provide value for money. I don’t think its good enough to accept poor value for money just because we’re constantly told its this or nothing. Maybe the BBC should give the licence to a company that can make it work rather than watch the fans of their flagship drama being fleeced by companies that cant make it work.
booboo
September 16th, 2015 - 11:14pmI very much suspect those involved want a good return for their investment and commitment and the ability to be flexible within their business frame.
We seem to be talking toys r us here as a player
we are also not privy to the associated licensing and rights costs all which play a factor
there are only likely to be 3-4 key Sherlock figures with almost guaranteed sales where as if we want good variety within the collectors range then the costs need to be spread.
people have very short memoires and i doubt any other company would have given you the massive range of new and classic figures we have had to date but to move forward the business model had to be right for the retailers involved.
Braxos
September 17th, 2015 - 12:00pmWell there may be other factors at play here. Sherlock is a very small license in comparison to Doctor Who.
Being a smaller license, it may command a smaller royalty fee which can translate to a slightly lower price.
Nice looking prototype, but you would expect that from the sculptor involved.

September 17th, 2015 - 5:30pmAgree with all points on this. They certainly need to strike a balance for future offerings.

August 23rd, 2015 - 12:20pmIs it just me or did Sherlock not have that thick or that many stripes on his scarf? Or did he have them at all?
TheDarkAndTheLight
August 24th, 2015 - 10:42amI think it’s based on his series two scarf. Here’s a comparison of the three, so far.

August 25th, 2015 - 6:03pmSherlock is returning for a Christmas special, so it kind of does make sense
Tom
September 12th, 2015 - 10:55amThink he means it would make sense to release it before Christmas so the company could capitalize on the Christmas present buying so they sell more
Dr Zaroff…Nozing in ze wurld can ztop me now!

CaptainJimiPie
August 14th, 2015 - 8:33pmTo be fair, it’s not Forbidden Planets fault when it comes to delays in shipping, it’s the fault of the companies that constantly delay dispatching their stocks, I’m always tired of seeing FP getting a bad rep for this when they can’t help it

100000BC
August 13th, 2015 - 11:26amI’m assuming that this is actually 5.5″, like the DW figures, and not 5″ like the annoyingly-just-out-of-scale-with-DW Robin Hood figures a few years ago…? Otherwise it will be rather irritating to display… 😀
booboo
August 13th, 2015 - 11:40amI’m sure it will be the same
100000BC
August 13th, 2015 - 11:46amThanks, I thought so too but those Robin Hood guys are seriously annoyingly just out of scale and Sherlock would be even more annoying if it were because everybody wants to make ‘WhoLock’! (although Little John, being taller than the others, makes a good younger War Doctor for those of us still without our own War Doctor figure)
TheDarkAndTheLight
August 13th, 2015 - 1:51pmEven more annoying than the Robin Hood figures being out of scale was the Torchwood ones being so, too. Only really the Weevils were passable, as they were hunched over. Plus they weren’t based on an individual character, so they could just have been a bigger member of their species than any that had appeared on screen. But there was no way you could have Gwen standing taller than the Tenth Doctor for example without it looking just wrong.
Nobody in particular
August 14th, 2015 - 3:42pmI think what’s even annoying than the Torchwood figures being out of scale was the new Doctor Who ones. I mean, if we want to have the Ninth Doctor vs modern Ice Warriors, that’s not happening ;(
TheDarkAndTheLight
August 16th, 2015 - 9:49pmValid point.
Matt
August 13th, 2015 - 9:55amHey Booboo, baring in mind it is a 5” figure, do you think it will fit in next to the doctor who figures, such as the the time of the doctor set, it looks real and I’m sure it’s the right size, but do u think the material might b a bit cheap plasticy or will it be the same?
booboo
August 13th, 2015 - 10:16amI,m sure it will be fine it’s sculpted by the same people as some of the who figures
Jenn
August 12th, 2015 - 10:09pmThis is really great, but can we get a John Watson please?
cyberdoctor42
August 25th, 2015 - 1:30amHopefully if enough people buy this they will. John’s my favourite character because martin freeman is a great actor

August 12th, 2015 - 10:58amThe stands look great, I wish the 5 inch Doctor Who figures had them
cyberdoctor42
August 25th, 2015 - 1:33amI think that the stand is a choice made by underground toys, whereas the doctor who figures are made by character options.

August 11th, 2015 - 11:19pmWho is the toy manufactures? Not CO?
booboo
August 12th, 2015 - 8:29amIt’s sculpted by the same company they use other than that I don’t think they have any involvement it’s purely an underground toys item
Anonymous
August 12th, 2015 - 9:04amIve never understood the difference between CO and UT. Are they different toy distributers that share the DW figure licence but use exactly the same manufacturer? Seems a strange arrangement.
booboo
August 12th, 2015 - 10:51amNo connection other than UT commission items from character who hold the licence for anything doctor who toy wise
UT have the Sherlock licence although they could use the same factory in china presumably
