Robert Harrop Axon Monster – Claws of Axos Limited Edition

Available to order while stocks last from www.robertharrop.com

“All things must die, Doctor. Mankind, this planet, Axos merely hastens the process.”

An approaching alien spaceship is detected on monitoring equipment at UNIT HQ, where Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart is entertaining two visitors; a civil servant making a security inspection and an American agent sent to discuss the threat of the Master. The ship lands in England where the UNIT team enter the spaceship and are met by its occupants: beautiful golden-skinned humanoids called Axons.

The Axons claim that their ship, Axos, is damaged and that they need time in which to repair it. In return, they offer Axonite, a substance that can cause animals to grow to enormous sizes and thus end food shortages. The Doctor is suspicious, and rightly so: Axos, Axonite and the Axons – whose true appearance is hideous – are all part of a single parasitic entity brought to Earth by the Master to feed on the planet’s energy.A Limited Edition Hand painted figurine / statue from the Doctor Who Collection.

There’s already 4 of these for sale at ott prices on ebay
The people that do this are not collecters they are only in it for the profit
Which is making it harder and more expensive for true collecters that miss out on pre order
My fear is that these such people will start buying in bulk at pre order
Maybe Rh should have a company policy of 1 figure per customer

Mine arrived a couple of days ago, it’s an amazing figure, glad I ordered it fast as it’s sold out, and here’s the reason why… out of interest I thought I’d have a look on eBay to see if there were any axon figures on there. And yes there are for well over double the price! the same person selling them, figures with consecutive numbers. Someone in my opinion underhandedly trying to rip people off! Personally I think Harrop should limit the number of figure sold to one person at 2. To give people who want them a chance of getting them, instead of getting ripped off!

(How did I know it’d be another high number).

My axon has just arrived. Its easily the best axon thats been released by far. The detailing and colour are spot on. And i got number 4 as limited edition number, the lowest number yet. I have had 8 and 13 in the past and the lowest you can get is 2 as Harrops keep number 1 for
shop display and reference i believe.

Nice one ergon on getting another low number, I’m on the other end of the scale, I always get a 150+ number. I wonder if they are picked totally at random as someone on here once mentioned, instead of first come first served.
If so, the law of averages should mean I’d have at least one low number by now.

If harrop keep number 1 from display then it must be a limited edition of 199 or do they make 201 just asking

      March 10th, 2021 - 12:25pm

      For display

Coleman i believe the numbering you recieve is random.

      March 10th, 2021 - 1:16pm

I reckon that Robert harrop make 201 and keep one for display but not numbered so it is possible to actually get figure number 1 if their only selling 199 to their customers than it would be a limited edition of 199

      March 10th, 2021 - 4:52pm

Sidney, don’t know how true it is, but say an Edition is 200, they could make as many as 220.
It’s mainly for breakages in the post. If someone returns one damaged then they’ll get a replacement. The original will be destroyed to keep the edition at 200 still.

Wasn’t expecting to receive this yet but DPD have just delivered mine (Didn’t get any despatch and/or delivery email from Harrop or DPD – didn’t even know it would be delivered by DPD just paid the £7.50p&p charge).
This is absolutely fantastic – probably one of Harrop’s best. Looks even better in hand than on the website photos.

Gorilla glue should be fine for the Lord, Sean. Infact any Super Glue should do the trick.
LOCTITE do a ceramics glue which is specifically for Porcelain, China, pots, cups etc.

Not a record Sidney with it selling out next day. The Ergon might be able to back me up but I seem to remember some selling out the same day? Seem to remember Omega and Morbius monster selling out quicker.

    • the ergon

      March 1st, 2021 - 11:09am

Morbius that went quick as well, coleman. I,ve a feeling the Yeti with sphere accessory will go the same way.

      March 1st, 2021 - 11:51am

What will the price point of the Yeti be ergon. Was the original Yeti alot more expensive than the normal figures with it being so bulky? (Can’t really remember).

    • the ergon

      March 1st, 2021 - 12:27pm

I didn,t collect these from the start so i don,t know. I paid £99 for my yeti off Ebay along with the Alpha centauri figurine (also £99) which is so rare now and would go for outrageous prices. The only ones i dont have are The TARDIS, K-9, the Doctors, which was a decision i made early (just collect the Monsters) and The very limited Edition Cyberleader from Revenge, which i have bidded on in the past but the selling price went way beyond the £180 budget i was willing to shell out for and is also one of the few rarities now.

    • Coleman

      March 1st, 2021 - 12:53pm

I seem to remember Davros being about £90, being there most expensive figure to date. Can’t remember The Yetis RRP though. Just been looking on Harrops site but can’t find it. They used to have a list of all there figures, both for sale and sold out, but it’s disappeared.

    • morrid

      March 1st, 2021 - 2:35pm

      Coleman,
Harrop pages list the Yeti as £69.99 RRP
The figures before and after it, Zygon and Jagaroth were £59.99.
Like The Ergon, I was late to the world of Harrop, only discovering them at the time of the Sycorax release.

    • Coleman

      March 1st, 2021 - 2:51pm

Thanks morrid, there’s not a big difference between the price of the Yeti and other Harrop figures then. So hopefully the new Yeti shouldn’t be two expensive. I started collecting the figures late as well, the Special Weapons Dalek was my first new one from Harrop. Back then though I managed to get most of the figures straight from Harrops as they were still in stock.

A couple of years ago i paid £269 for Alfa centauri and £349 for the pewter zygon

    • Gary H.

      March 1st, 2021 - 5:21pm

Yes Sidney, I think most people buy these because there Dr Who fans and they just like to display them.
But because of the very small Editions worldwide, i can see the prices just keep rising. So they are a very good investment aswell.

    • morrid

      March 2nd, 2021 - 7:05pm

Agreed Gary H. As a relatively new collector it’s been interesting to see which figures become sought after compared to others and what makes them so as it’s not always the ones produced in the smallest numbers that garner the most interest. Alpha, from a now relatively standard sized production run seems to be a highly regarded figure and for Harrop it was nice to see the recent Axon selling quickly. It’s also nice hearing what other people’s own Holy Grails are.

    • Gary H.

      March 2nd, 2021 - 8:22pm

One thing I’ve noticed morrid is the only collectibles that seem to keep rising in value and are good investments are those produced in low quantities and are relatively expensive to begin with, such as Robert Harrop or Big Chief studios. Not so much Eaglemoss or the CO stuff.
With these having much cheaper RRPS, alot more people buy them, hence there not as rare.

I,d like a mummy but i,d prefer other versions of sutekh, preferably the one with the burning feet and originals that haven,t been done. just so many to choose from. Harrops are slow to get these out. why not try your hand at making your own Harrop customs. check out colemans on the collections page, read up, watch a few tutorials and invest in some Fimo or Polymer Clay, some sculpting tools and some decent Acrylic paint . Its an interesting hobby if you have the time, patience and money.

    • Zygon_invader

      February 27th, 2021 - 1:24am

Sadly Ergon I have no patience what so ever to even begin to create my own figures
The burning feet sutekh version would be marvellous
I know that eaglemoss can’t make a kandy man would that be the same for harrop aswell

    • the ergon

      February 27th, 2021 - 10:08am

I,m afraid thats pretty much across the Board for all Who merchandise. Bassetts the sweets company felt the Kandyman bore too much of a resemblance to their mascot Bertie Bassett and their CEOs complained but allowed it to be used for The Happiness Patrol story only but that was it which one of the stipulations meant BBC merchandising would not allow any products to be made in that image despite an investigation which suggested the likeness was coincidental. Polymer and fimo are the best for making these as you can leave them and come back to your creations when you like.I,m doing eaglemoss size figurines. So far i,ve done a Kandyman but which still requires more delicate painting than the larger size, A plasmation and the Larvae gun creature from The Web Planet which I,m still wondering what colour i need to paint. There are a few I will attempt on my Harrop list which are pretty low on peoples wishlists and quite obscure and a few of the more popular ones. Coleman who regulary comments on here apparently is going to do his own Zusanna and Menoptera. Just try a few simple ones and build from there.

  • Gary H.

    February 26th, 2021 - 12:23pm

Just thinking about it, wonder if down the line they’ll do the CO trick and paint it green and pass it off as a Krynoid.
Wouldn’t complain if they do, it’d be a good way to get another figure in the collection.
Some people might even get two and customise one?

They reused the axon costume, i think, in the series to make the krynoid, coleman. that CO version i was never happy with, like i say it looked like it had a face and that bulbous nose didn,t help. If they could retool the head and make it akin to this and do one for the B and M sets with a Jo/Brigadier and doctor i reckon it would sell well.

    • Coleman

      February 26th, 2021 - 5:40pm

Your right Ergon, they used the same costume for both the Axon Creature and the Krynoid, just repainted it. So their wouldn’t be a problem if Harrops released a Green version in time because it would be fairly accurate from that point of view.
