Figurine Collection (Test Area) 01 The Eleventh Doctor

Figurine Collection (Test Area) 01 The Eleventh Doctor

Celebrate 50 years of Doctor Who this fantastic new figurine collection. The series draws from every era show and includes all eleven versions of the Doctor plus his greatest monsters.

All the figurines are carefully produced in 1:21 scale, and cast in a specially formulated metallic resin before being painted by hand and individually numbered.

The specially formulated resin and high quality sculpting allow the figurines to reproduce an incredible level of detail right down to the mesh in the Silurian Warrior’s uniform and the controls on Davros’s console.

Each figurine recreates a specific moment from the TV series in loving detail and every sculpt is based on detailed study of the original production photography, props and drawings.

The collection features several different versions of the Daleks and Cybermen allowing you to trace their evolution over the years.

This is the definitive Doctor Who figurine collection.

3.75” is 1:18 scale so that gives you a rough idea where the 1:21 scale is.

I’ve decided to chose one collection to start either between these models or the 3.75″ Figures. The only problem is that I can’t choose which! Based on what we’ve seen so far of both collections, what do you all think I should get? Post your suggestions below. Thanks!

I’m back! I haven’t been able to post much over the last few weeks due to a lot of school work, but with half term here, I should be around a bit more often!

Anyway, I’m totally undecided about this collection. If I was going by looks alone, then yes, I would definitely buy it, but its the price that throws me. If you think about it, £6.99 is rather expensive for such a small figure, when the 3.75″ figures will be sold at the same price! What actually makes the models worth this much, and is it the normal price for collections like this?

    Reply
    • Anonymous

      February 17th, 2013 - 11:19pm

Yes, this is the normal price for this sort of collection. They are normally made out of metal although I’m not sure what these ones are made out of (the Marvel and DC ones were made out of lead and then could only be sold in certain countries).

Plus, these figures aren’t actually that small 3.75” is about 1:18 scale, these are 1:21 so only a small difference.

Most Doctor Who partworks get commisioned for 52 issues. So if you pay £51 extra for the seven figures and the base that works out at around £6.38 a go.

    February 17th, 2013 - 12:51pm

So wait, if we opt in to receive the Daleks, after 7 issues, will you be charged normal price for the magazine again? Or is it just certain issues we get charged £7.99 and £6.99 for the issues we don’t recive a Dalek?

    • booboo

      February 17th, 2013 - 12:56pm

£7.99 across all issues, otherwise these Daleks would only cost £1 each, I would imagine this is over approx a 2 year run initially so it will take that long to get them all

    • ImSoNotARobot

      February 17th, 2013 - 12:58pm

    • ImSoNotARobot

      February 17th, 2013 - 12:20pm

I kinda hope it isn’t extended, as I lost interest just after the 3rd set of cards were announced as I didn’t see the point in them, but continued with my subscription, so if it it extended, I will be cancelling it, and start on this magazine instead as this has a lot more interest to me.

    • TheWhomobile

      February 17th, 2013 - 1:30pm

Even if Monster Invasion is cancelled I can’t see myself getting this, the monsters look good but the 11th Doctor hasn’t exactly won me over. And also the price is rather high and I would want the Daleks which would cost me £7.99 so I hope Monster Invasion does continue or they bring out another cheaper magazine.
