Why have they re-released the 11th Doctor in his tweed jacket and the regenerated 12th Doctor figure again? Are they taking the 4Kids approach or something?

Argos never had them, some USA retailers sold out

      July 19th, 2014 - 12:40pm

Well I never liked the 3.75 inch figures to begin with, so I will never buy one. But just because I don’t like them, doesn’t mean I don’t know why other people do like them. If you do like them then fine by me. I’m just wondering why have they re-released two figures from the previous wave. All the shops I’ve been to have had dozens of both figures in so it isn’t because of high demand. Would it have made better sense to make different variants of the figures such as the 12th Doctor in his new outfit and the 11th Doctor in his Snowmen outfit?

I am surprised they did Amy from Asylum, I would have thought it would have been from The Angeks Take Manhattern! But what is wrong with her arms! It looks as if the joints are to big for the socket, maybe when you get her you just need to push them in, hopefully. CO have done this very cleverly when it comes to 10 and 11. I you buy this 10 and the DOTD set, you can display him with out coat and without glasses or with coat and glasses, then you can swap Smith’s head to have tweed and fez and accurate DOTD (with mets up face ) …

So people might buy two 10s and 11s and DOTD sets, so they can display them in different ways, very cleaver Co, very cleaver! It seems the figures are getting worst but CO’s intelligence (when it comes down to money) has increased. But I might buy Amy (just so I have a figure of her basically) and that will be it!

    • Doctor 909

      July 18th, 2014 - 7:53am

Oh and after looking at the figure carefully I have found a few nit picks:
10s pinstripes (on jacket and trousers) haven’t been painted!!!!
      Amy is missing her rings!!!
The Gneiss Daleks eye groove is huge!
Oh and that Asylum Dalek , DIDN’T APEAR IN THE EPISODE! All the Asylum Daleks were missing parts and “eggs”!
These aren’t major but are just little things I thought CO would have done!

Lots of people say the likeness of Amy and 10 is bad, which I agree, they’re not perfect, however they do look better in hand then they do in promo pics, also I’d say there not very far below (or maybe even equal to 3.75″ Star Wars figures (keep in mind these figure are slightly bigger in scale)!! I’m still very disappointed we’re getting 2 Re-releases in this wave, but we should wait for the uk reveal, before we get upset. Also that asylum Dalek looks fantastic!!

Don’t just think that they are not doing 5″ anymore. They still do on 5″ classic figures and also some of the characters from the new series would be made as a 5″ action figure special. Have ye of faith!

It’s all going to be fine, they’re just holding things back until their TV debut, like The Twelfth Doctor in costume and two new monsters. Even though a quarter of things seen at Toy Fair don’t get made, the series 3 lineup is pretty much guaranteed. It’s just like how the Ice Warrior was held back in the first series.

I stand corrected. It seems like these rereleases are partly so they can be released in new packaging, but since it’s 3A now I suppose new releases can still be brought in just like the original main 5″ line was doing.

    • booboo

      July 18th, 2014 - 10:40am

apparently they cant release any figures until the episode has aired which seems odd in the 12th Doctors case as we all know what is costume is its been released officially

    July 18th, 2014 - 2:22am

I will look at these figures in person, before deciding to get them or not. But I must say, the 3.75 figures continue to NOT resemble the actors. David Tennent looks like my fat cousin Lonny in the new scale. What’s the problem with these toy makers? Keep the 5 inch scale, they are the fan favorites. Oh, and let’s get them cranked out on a more regular basis too, please. Chop chop.

I hate the 10th doctor figures from CO in general, this will have a bit more articulation than the 5 inch figure, but i don’t think it will really look like tennant in the plastic. Also if Lonny comes onto this site, someone’s going to be a bit offended. lol

Well: 10 and Amy are new, the Genesis Dalek is new and the Asylum Dalek is a new variant; so only 2 actual rereleases out of 6 figures – still dissapointing – but only 33.3% (approx) of the wave is rereleases

    • booboo

      July 18th, 2014 - 11:39am

you have to rememebr this is “back to basics” toys line with only key characters

Argos did not stock the last wave so including the 11th and 12th in this wave would make sense from that point of view

Why does the David Tennant figure look like it smoked something strong and why does the Amy pond figure resemble Daphne from Scooby Doo if she had too much surgery done to her face. While the classic Dalek is nice, that I’ll admit, I don’t like the idea that the classic Doctor Who figures are going to be shrunken down to the 3.75 inch size. I just hope they bring out more 5 inch figures in the future. The 11th Doctor regeneration set feels like a good sign for me.

Disclaimer* – I know these are only pre productions figures, but here’s my opinion:

    – Now, to me it looks as if once again, the Toy Fair production is WAYYYYY more accurate, as apposed to these promos, and the end result has always took a turn for the worse. God forbid if these turn out like mushy pieces of plastic, just merely resembling the characters ever so slightly…
