I spoke to a guy at a card/table-top game store today and he said the price isn’t abnormal. The decks he suspects will be around $70 in the US and the boosters are considered super-premium containing only foil/fancy cards. He did say that the boosters won’t add any cards to the decks. They are just premium foil versions of the cards already in the decks.

Amazon UK has the Commander Decks listed at about £49 to £53 but the Listings are all over the place? They do have pictured a Single Booster pack but again the Listing is screwed up?

The Forbidden Planet Listings are definitely over-priced & they haven’t listed a Full Booster box for sale either?

I want to buy a least the 4 Commander Decks & a Full Booster box, but it seems a case of wait & see until someone list’s all the Products at a reasonable price?

the Amazon live listings are for the French version (which isn’t clear on some of them) and are in the DVD category, the Magic shop listings are either unavailable or out of stock, they have been like it for days, told them its a mess on twitter but no action so far.

This is a set of Magic the Gathering cards by Wizards of the Coast, for their Commander format of the game. Each deck is a ready to play deck for that format, with these cards having doctor who themed art and mechanics.

Very variable quality of artwork. As a card collector got to be honest and say I’m not impressed with these.

I’m amazed the artist hasn’t captured Tom’s likeness but the pics of Tennant and Davros are good if they were all up to that standard Id think about it.

I quite like it when the likenesses are a little bit ‘off’. In the case of Tom Baker’s, this is the 4th Doctor as PLAYED by TB. As if he were an historical figure.

Plus it’s a good get out line for people like me who can’t always ‘find’ a true likeness. 🙂

I always have a laugh to myself when people say things like this – Considering the First allocation to Forbidden Planet has sold out in a few days, this show’s to the contrary already!

I see that they have completely sold out now – Wow!

Assume the price reflects the bespoke nature of the artwork on the cards themselves – no photos, clipart, copy paste cards. Though at that price more like – money the gathering

I saw the comments about price and thought “oh, it might be a lot”. NOTHING prepared me for the actual price

I thought this might be cool to get cos the cards look cool. But then I saw the prices…..
I guarantee that most people who would want to get this would want to only because it’s Doctor Who and have never played or have no interest of playing Magic.
And I wonder if any Magic players will get these cards anyway.
