Harrops Future Figurines Vervoid and a Quark

From their facebook page

Here is first sight of the completed and painted new Doctor Who Vervoid figurine.
I know it’s short notice and a few things had to align before I could officially announce, but he will be going live on the website www.robertharrop.com next Friday 2nd December at 8am.

He will be a Limited Edition of only 225 figurines, coming complete with the usual Certificate of Authenticity and priced at £75.00 each.

However, please don’t forget the 10% discount if you are registered as a Friend of Harrop.

First image of the next piece after the Quark Robot. Pictured here is Mike Rogers with his sculpt of a Vervoid from 1986’s ‘Terror of the Vervoids’ staring Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor Who.

Here is the first picture of the completed Navigator Rago and Quark Robot figurines from the Doctor Who Episode ‘The Dominators’.

Navigator Rago will be available to pre-order from Friday 24th June and the Quark Robot on Friday 26th August. Both will be of a larger than usual Limited Edition size of 250 figurines each.

First images of the next Doctor Who pieces to be released. Sculpted by Mike Rogers, they are Navigator Rago and a Quark Robot from 1968’s episode The Dominators.

Please note that yes, the Quark is missing its head spikes, these are to be added later. Images of the fully painted pieces will be posted as and when they are completed. Harrops are aiming for these to be released in May and July respectively.

As promised here is the group shot of our completed and fully painted Doctor Who figurines from ‘Terror of the Autons’!

The Master will be released to order from Friday 26th November and will be delivered before Christmas. He will be a Limited Edition of 225 figurines.

The Daffodil Auton and Troll Doll will be released in early 2022.

With the Hartnell’s starting to go out (there are only 9 left as I write this so please don’t leave it too late if you want one!), so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to show you the images I have been promising of the sculpts for the next three pieces.

Pictured here with sculptor Mike Rogers, they are all taken from 1971’s Terror of the Autons, we have the Master, a Daffodil Auton and the Master’s evil little troll doll!

Yet to finalise the release schedule, but I am aiming for the first piece to be released at the end of October. They won’t be released as a set, but if production time allows I would like to get all three out before Christmas.
Anyway, I hope you like what you see and they sure do make for an eclectic little set! I will post images of the completed and fully painted pieces shortly.

As promised here is the first pic of our William Hartnell, the First Doctor, figurine. I think Mike’s done a great job, no easy feat at such a small scale, so I hope you all approve. I’ve pencilled him in for an August 27th release, Limited Edition 225.

Here is the first fully painted image of the Ancient One Haemovore from the 1989 Doctor Who episode The Curse of Fenric. He will be a Limited Edition of only 225 pieces and will go live on their website for pre-ordering from Friday 25th June.

The next figurine after that will be William Hartnell, he has not yet been painted but they will be posting images of the completed piece very shortly. This will be pencilled in for an August release. After that Mike is currently working on 3 sculpts from the same episode to hopefully round off 2021. News on those when they have all been completed so they can show them off as a set.

The Terror release dates have been pushed back due to material availability issues.

    26/11 – The Master
    28/01 – Troll Doll

I think the first one to be released will be the Master. I’ll definitely get all three. They look great.

Yes Jay, I’m leaning towards the Master as the first release. It was mentioned at the star of the year that it’s the 50th Anniversary of the Masters first TV appearance, so they’ll try and make sure it gets released this year even if the others get delayed.

I know this will be controversial but I would love to see Jodie whitaker done as their next Doctor. She’s not even my favourite Doctor, but I think it would be nice to get a female in a male dominated collection. Like to see a few of the companions now aswell such as Clara, Peri, Tegan and Sarah Jane.
(Unfortunately, Jodie probably won’t happen due to Harrops concentrating more on the Classic series)

Shouldn’t be controversial at all Coleman (although you’re right it probably will be) because she is the Doctor as much as any other actor in the role. Totally agree she should be part of the series and her Doctor would make a colourful figure in this range.

I’m not a fan of Peter Davison or Colin Baker’s Doctors but they should always be as much a part of series merchandise as any other. Personally, I think Jodie has been poorly served by the writing and the resort to the default breathless ‘wacky’ characterisation many of the new Doctors have had. She is a great actor, but like Davison, depends on scripts rather than being a ‘personality’ actor.

If Harrop are concentrating on older characters, they could do the Rani, the female Eldrad, Cessair of Diplosm even Lady Adrasta (one of my very favourite villains) to balance it out a bit.

On another note very sad to hear of the death of John Challis – he was simply fantastic as Scorby. Took me ages to realise he was the same actor that played Boycie!

Hello Doug, shouldn’t be controversial like you say , but I did expect a few negative comments. She’s not my favourite Doctor, but I think it would be really nice to get a few women characters in this collection. Also really love her outfit, mainly because of the rainbow stripes on the coat edging and also on her shirt. I think it makes a very striking outfit which would transfer well to a Harrops figure.
RIP John Challis, we seem to be losing alot of the older Dr Who actors now.
Having grown up with many of these actors since I was a child, they seem like friends.
      It’s such a shame.

      September 20th, 2021 - 10:49am

Rattling on again, but I grew up with the the Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker era, so no wonder that most Doctor Nu Who costumes are way too plain for me. Probably why I like Jodie’s so much, it seems to be more like the classic Doctors outfits again. (Don’t know if anyone else would agree).

    • Doug Who

      September 20th, 2021 - 12:39pm

I do like Jodie’s costume but perhaps, like Davison and C. Baker it’s a little too rigid in its design for me. Not to mention those crass question marks J N-T was so fond of! I prefer Doctors to have a distinct style but less of a ‘costume’ like Jon and Tom’s look.

Get what you mean by the newer Doctors looking plain but I quite liked Tennant’s look, it moved well at least!

I wonder if Harrops will ever do any more newer characters? Surely there’s two hundred folk out there would buy them? Not sure I’d be one of them mind!

    • Coleman

      September 20th, 2021 - 1:09pm

I hope so Doug, I like the new Doctors and Aliens just as much as Classic who, I think it’s a big missed opportunity if Harrops only concentrate on the Classics.
I understand though, like Booboo mentioned they seem to have found their market with Classic Who, the newer stuff sells much, much slower and probably ties up their revenue.

    • Doctor Mysterio

      September 21st, 2021 - 1:42am

I like Jodie too but agree she has not been well served by the scripts. Then again, it took about two seasons for them to get Capaldi’s Doctor right. Now he’d make a good figure! Season 10 hair please…

    • Coleman

      September 21st, 2021 - 3:15pm

Hello Doctor Mysterio, I remember their last Nu Who figure was the Sycorax and it was in their store for months and months before it finally sold out and their was only around 200 made.
So they’ll probably stick to the classics in future.

It will be Shaun, I’m speculating the Auton was the last one to be finished of these three and it hasn’t been removed from the stand yet. I’ve noticed they’ve still got to add his gun (probably in pewter) so it’s still WIP.

    • Popplewick

      September 18th, 2021 - 2:55pm

I assumed the stand was bigger to give the figure some prominence. I love Who sets just as I liked the Harrops Anderson figures released in groups. A Web Planet set would be supreme as would a collection of the Masterplan delegates.

    • Coleman

      September 18th, 2021 - 4:29pm

Hello popplewick, I noticed the Auton wasn’t yet on his white stone marble base yet, like the other two figurines are. So just assumed it wasnt finished yet.

      September 18th, 2021 - 6:28pm

Maybe the stand will be reduced once it’s finished. After all, the stand for the Ancient One is larger in the unpainted pictures then it is in the painted photos.

still on the fence about purchasing The Master. It might have been better had it been the master holding the Troll doll from terror and then we could have left a space for Bok or something new. The auton is great in its iconic pose though i would have preffered it hoding the basket of Daffodils for this particular story.

It’s ok ergon, The Daffodil Auton is such a great figure with such vivid colours, I’m glad everyone gets a chance to snap him up now. Stunning set, really like these.
Also with how good the portrait is of the 1st Doctor recently, I’m really confident they’ll be able to nail the masters likeness now. Even if the photos don’t do it justice trust me ergon, buy it he will look great.
Tottal surprise making these three though, since booboo mentioned he couldn’t see it being from the Autons even I I was leaning towards it being from the Colony in Space.

    • Doug Who

      September 17th, 2021 - 5:31pm

      Coleman,

Like Ergon, I was feeling a little for you after all your work on your one but I thought this would be the three. The ‘Colony In Space’ aliens seemed a bit too obscure for even Harrop and Azal might be too big (although he can be any size theoretically!)

I don’t buy all of these but the Auton and Troll Doll I might go for. They do monsters very well!

    • Coleman

      September 17th, 2021 - 5:35pm

Yes, believe it or not, just mentioned that to a familly member, saying I hope that Troll Dolls not going to be £60 or £70 pound as usual.
I remember people having this debate on social media about K9 with most people saying it will be quite cheap because of its size. Then Harrops announced it would be the usual price because of all the work involved. (Oh dear).

    • the ergon

      September 17th, 2021 - 5:36pm

If anything this trio are the most predictable choices but Welcome choices at that. I,m not sure about the master just yet. Anyway One less purchase might be an lower edition number for yourself. I didn,t even buy the doctors second favourite friend K-9 for the same reason. I just prefer the ‘Aliens’ and monsters.

    • Coleman

      September 17th, 2021 - 5:43pm

Thanks Doug Who, believe it or not the characters I picked to make were fairly obscure so I thought they might never get made by Harrops, then they go and do this to me.LOL.

Have they increased the number from 225. Previous doctors were really slow sales but with more interest in these figurines and knowing the others sold out i think they know they are onto a winner and especially since this is one that falls under classics. I,m sure the rest of the doctors will sell as well. I,m predicting (and i,m going out on a limb) this will sell out. Just not as quickly as the monsters do now.

I agree about the look of the ‘human’ figures that Harrops do. Almost a cartoonish/puppet style. It worked especially well for some of their other ranges like Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet.

Because Harrops have already made several Doctor’s I’d still like to see them do all the rest of them, just for the sake of completeness.

To be honest, the stylised ‘Harrop’ look is begining to grow on me. The more I look at the one’s I have, the more their unique appearance appeals. But to each their own.

Now, let’s have the First Doctor in a monochrome edition as well please!

Actually the carnival Auton holding a basket, arm outstretched offering a daffodil would be a nice pose but equally The master holding that troll doll in one hand would be great and kill two birds with one stone as well as counting it as one release. Though i dare say they might go for the classic pose with the tissue compression eliminator. Thats what makes these so unique. A classic pose and a good prop if needed, to add a more stylish touch.

Only a few weeks to go now. I wish they would do that terileptil Android as a first.

Yes I’d also like to see Harrop tackle the Terileptil Android. I think it could be terrific!

The Android and Terileptil leader would be good. I know Dan mentioned on their site the Leader was coming soon, but that was two years ago?

Hartnell next then trio from the same story to be announced – could be Terileptil Leader, Android and Android dressed as Death?

    • Coleman

      June 11th, 2021 - 8:06pm

Ergon, the next figure is William Hartnell. But after that Dans mentioned the next 3figures this year will be from the same Episodes. Any Guesses?

Hopefully, Terileptil leader, Android and Peter Davison.

I only bang on about it as ‘the visitation’ is my joint favourite 5th doctor story, alongside androzani elevated more by john savidents comical scenes as the squire. ‘I think its fair to say we are under attack’. Brilliant.

Coleman i,d like to think warriors of the deep, greatest show or even the happiness patrol if true, though we can count out ‘the kandyman’ i think. What about you? New series perhaps?

    • The ergon

      June 11th, 2021 - 8:43pm

Glad its the hartnell doctor. I can miss that one and save those pounds for those b and m figure sets. Daleks, sensorites, voord et al, i,ll be ready and stairfoot bound.

      June 11th, 2021 - 9:10pm

Maybe they could complete pyramids with the sarcophagus, a mummy and a different sutekh variation. Preferably the one with the smoking feet to complete that story. Or how about from ‘The Five doctors’ or ‘The trial of a timelord’. You,ve really got me thinking now coleman.

      June 11th, 2021 - 9:21pm

Anonymous. I hope you,re onto something with those three choices. How cool would that be?

    • Coleman

      June 11th, 2021 - 10:01pm

In think it’ll definitely be classic figures ergon. The new series doesn’t seem to sell has well for Harrops. The last new series figure they did was the sycorax which was around for months before selling out. Even Booboo mentioned that Harrops had found their audience with the Classic stuff. Would be funny if it turned out to be Omega, 5th Doctor and you guessed it the Ergon!

The Greatest show you mentioned could be a possibility, theirs plenty of Characters from that episode to make three figurines. If the “Gods” were made as just one figurine. Maybe a Chief Clown and the bus conductor could be added. (I quite like the half buried robot). In future I wonder if companions are totally out of the question from Harrops)?

It’s just come to me who the Kerblam men reminded me of.

Would love A destroyer of worlds with Morgana and the 7th Doctor.

Maybe colin and peters eras need a little more representation. They could easily pluck three enemies from trial. Drathro, sil and a vervoid which has been mooted as a possibility. Greatest show i,d like them to do but i am biased as its my joint seventh doctor favourite with curse which is now slightly covered. They could do companion pieces but like doctors i wouldn,t be interested as the style wouldn,t be to my taste. Are you purchasing big chiefs lifelike master and troll doll. I might make my first purchase for that alone. Regret not getting the matt and clara which are sold out and unsurprisingly i noticed you have on your shelves with capaldi. I bet they require dusting regulary on their stands being material.

    • Coleman

      June 12th, 2021 - 11:38am

Yes dustings a nightmare ergon. Keep upstairs windows closed most of the time so only dust about every six months. (Still takes awhile though). Only ones I havnt on pre-order at the moment, funnily enough is the Master and Captain Jack. (Purely money issues). Would love them one day. Keep getting regular updates on my Big Chief 3rd and 13th Doctors, apparently production is finally finished and are shipping from China end of this month. (I’ll post photos on their shelf’s when they finally arrive.) I’ve also Tom and Colin and K9 on pre-order, but their way off yet.

I hope the 3 figurines Harrops are making from the same episode does include another Doctor.
It’s time they made a concerted effort to make at least all of the Classic Doctors if not all of the Doctors soon.

The Yeti has a fixed release date of 30th April and the edition size is 225.
Could be a wise choice considering how quick the Axon creature sold out.

I mentioned on Facebook that it should be the 13th since she’s the current Doctor.
      Bit odd if not.

That would allow me a break to save for the monsters. Seems odd they haven,t done one in a while though for those that want the Doctors.

@annonymous…… Yeah, its only a bit odd if they did make the “Cosplay Doctor”. They want to make money so it definitely won’t be her it’ll be a classic doctor!

Harrops have found their market, i doubt we will see anything “new series” from them for some time, if ever.
