June 5th, 2015 - 8:06amIt’s a shame that the Character figure designer looks like he isn’t going to be sharing anymore photos or news anymore.
I know I wouldn’t like it if I was working on these toys for a long time only to get put down by others, almost like Moffat’s Twitter. He is as much as fan of the show as we are and he would’ve been doing his best to make only the best toys as he possibly could within the marketing guidelines and restrictions as to getting them to sell. Not everything can be done to the tee. There’s being critical, and there’s being rude. We were quite fortunate that we managed to have a near direct link to Character and get exclusive images first thing during the last few years as some people into other toys from different companies didn’t have this privilege.

June 5th, 2015 - 8:59amway of the internet sadly, people have forgotten how to be civil. I despair sometimes at comments left, especially as those who leave them have no idea what they are talking about and think companies should revolve business plans around their personal expectations.
As per usual its the vocal few that spoil it for the others.

June 12th, 2015 - 7:17pmAlthough Al Dewar is rude to people who aren’t having a go at him, someone asked him if they were doing a figure of the Teller and he snapped at them completely.
Cyberman Bill
June 4th, 2015 - 5:39pmWhy were the pics deleted?
booboo
June 4th, 2015 - 6:03pmno idea, think i’m going to give up and just feature stuff when its officially announced.
Scousebadger
June 4th, 2015 - 2:50pmI’m a bad man, because I cannot see the pics
booboo
June 4th, 2015 - 3:06pmthat’s because they have all been deleted

June 3rd, 2015 - 12:30amBy the way i was having a chat with Al Dewar on Twitter and he confirmed that we will be seeing a new 5 inch scale 11th Doctor flight control Tardis with light up phone door (the sign that says “free for use of public”). It will feature the new interior from the snowmen too and a new lighter blue paint.
booboo
June 3rd, 2015 - 8:11amyes its in one of the comments somewhere
Toys us Exclusive in the UK
Although i’m puzzled as to why it would be the 11th and not 12ths
may be it because of the other Tardis alert thing
The Missing Doctor
June 2nd, 2015 - 12:13amWe need a 5 inch Missy and 12th Doctor so bad and an updated 5 inch Clara would be great as well
DoctorDan Alsop
June 1st, 2015 - 6:56pmPlease can we just get back to 5″ figures, they had better detail, and were more popular. And for someone like me that has collected for a long time, it just ruins collecting by changing the size.
booboo
June 1st, 2015 - 7:01pmtime and time again its been said the mass retailers don’t want them and they do want the 3’75” figures, that’s why its the current line and has been for 3 years.
you will get more 5″ figure but no company is going to revolve their necessary business plans around individual expectations
Kyle Newell
August 22nd, 2015 - 9:43pmI agree, I miss the 5inch figures, I know some are still releasing but there normally exclusives and are expensive, why are retailers not wanting 5inch figures anymore?, theyve ruined my childhood of collecting & I hope they bring them back
Kyle Newell
August 22nd, 2015 - 9:46pmAlso these 3.75inch figures look terrible &, who really wants to waste there money on them? They would make 10times the amount of money if they just bring 5inch figures back, weve missed out on so many characters thsr would be awesome in 5inch scale!
booboo
August 22nd, 2015 - 10:01pmno they wouldn’t, that’s why they stopped in the mass market 5″ in the first place
Kyle Newell
August 22nd, 2015 - 10:25pmWhy werent they making much money booboo? :S
booboo
August 23rd, 2015 - 11:06ambecause the mass market 5″ line relied on substantial orders from the large retailers and costs were increasing
with the loss of Woolworths, which was the only high street stockists in virtually every town and some other big names “dropping out” there was simply not enough orders to make the line viable any more.
with the lack of orders from series 6 the line was already dead and existing orders were made up of variants as there was not enough demand to warrant more investment in new figures.
Character opted for a cheaper, smaller, safe line which are doing fine.
retailers are not fans, they want what market trends and price points demand at the time.
People may the big mistake of thinking Character sell to the public, they dont, they sell to retailers and retailers don’t want you wont get.
its all very simple really
you are getting the collectors line which i hope will give us “core” figures and a few surprises (as in the caretaker) but as we have seen it comes at a price.
Kyle Newell
August 22nd, 2015 - 10:27pmI thought (along with millions of others) that the 5inch scale was amazing, so why did they not make much money?
booboo
August 23rd, 2015 - 10:50ammillions? more like a few thousand
Kyle Newell
August 22nd, 2015 - 10:35pmDo you think we will ever see a full range/series of 5inch doctor who figures again?
The paternoster gang
May 31st, 2015 - 3:39pmI’m really liking the Missy figure. It seems like a good year for doctor who 3.75 figures and doctor who merchandise in general. I’m hoping soon we will get pictures for the figures in the 5 inch collectors line.
Thatchos
May 31st, 2015 - 3:52amI’ve gotten to the point where I’m just gonna stop speculating, sit back, wait, and go with whatever CO and UT bring us. π

May 30th, 2015 - 12:53pmPeople that keep asking for a 5″ Twelfth Doctor. It’s been said by the Character designer plenty of times it’s not going to happen. I know that he has said things that later turned out to actually happen, but with something as big as a current Doctor, wouldn’t you have actually heard something about it by now? Since the 3.75″ change, the 5″ range now only focuses on Doctor’s Who past (1963-2013), not its present. It stops right at The Time of the Doctor, as you can tell from the packaging.
booboo
May 30th, 2015 - 1:23pmwhat you have to remember is this 5″ collectors line is new and moves on from anything that has happened in the past
Its going to need a “bigish launch” to create awareness and get people on board.
I can virtually guarantee you if it contains a 5″ 12th Doctor they are not going to come right out with it just now.
Jdog
May 30th, 2015 - 3:46pmI understand what you’re saying. I’d personally love to be wrong but that is what I thought was the reason all this time. Since the “Some Doctor Could Contend” hint, I assumed the only 5″ Doctor that would come out this year would’ve been The Eighth Doctor from The Night of the Doctor for SDCC being based on a past story, but I only recently remembered that we had The Other Doctor set, and it would be a bit strange.
booboo
May 30th, 2015 - 7:27pmof course we dont if if UT will carry on commissioning their own 5″ exclusives for SDCC as they have in the past
time will tell
the astronaut of death
May 30th, 2015 - 4:20pmI think we will get a 5 inch 12th doctor .
Anonymous
May 30th, 2015 - 7:47pmI can’t see UT stop doing 5 inch figures….. Mainly due to how well they sell.
Wholords2
May 31st, 2015 - 6:15amWhen someone asked him about SDCC he said “some doctor could contend” so perhaps we are getting one!
Jdog
May 31st, 2015 - 8:55amI assumed that was going to go towards the Eighth Doctor from The Night of the Doctor. If we’re lucky, the Black Series might feature Clara and a Cyberman, both from Series 7.
Doctor Who Crazy Ross
June 1st, 2015 - 8:40pmWouldn’t mind seeing these in a 5″ collector range:
β’12th Doctor with swappable shirts, sonic, swappable jacket (for caretaker jacket) and swappable arm for spoon.
β’Missy with swappable head, umbrella, device, and open umbrella
β’Cyberman with swappable Danny Head, swappable Cyberleader head, removable chest plate and smoke/fire beams that can attach to the feet.
β’8th Doctor with gauntlet and sonic
β’Clara with bag accessory, small tardis accessory, siege mode tardis accessory

May 30th, 2015 - 10:54amis missy 3.75″ or 5″ ? I cant tell lol
matt9982
May 30th, 2015 - 10:56amShe’s 3.75″ π
DannyTheNerd
May 30th, 2015 - 11:00amThanks!
Doctor Who Crazy Ross
May 29th, 2015 - 10:30pmI don’t see why they cant just have a two parallel ranges at the same time, so like a 3.75″ range and 5″ range with all of the same figures but in different sizes like the hobbit did.
I know it would be very expensive but it would be worth it for them.
Sam Richard Bentley
May 29th, 2015 - 10:33pmBecause the 5″ aren’t wanted by retailers! That’s why we can’t have ‘parallel ranges’ – why would they bother spending money of figures that retailers won’t want, and therefore won’t sell?
Doctor Who Crazy Ross
May 30th, 2015 - 1:23amMaybe online retailers such as bbc shop, forbidden planet etc should have them as online exclusives!
Sam Richard Bentley
May 30th, 2015 - 1:42amBut that won’t make enough money for them to produce the figures as a proper line. A lot of people don’t like online shopping. If everyone did online shopping, then there would be no one commenting about not finding toys in certain stores anymore.
A select amount of special figures is the best you’re going to get. IF they were to do a parallel series, the figures would be very, very expensive, both 5 and 3.75″.
Anonymous
May 30th, 2015 - 5:21pmI think you are very much mistaken, even with online shopping it can be a nightmare finding certain items.
Sam Richard Bentley
May 30th, 2015 - 5:27pmI’m not ‘very much mistaken’ of anything. I was using that as an example of evidence that some people do not use online shopping. Not enough people would buy a range of toys solely off an online retailer for them to keep up a running, parallel series of both 5 and 3.75″ figures!
booboo
May 30th, 2015 - 6:17pmTrue enough
I would be interested to know the on-line / shop sales ratio on the previous FP exclusives
I wonder how much of the population as a whole do not live near enough to a FP for example and have to order on-line
shatner
May 29th, 2015 - 8:14pmAfter 4c wave will we get other characters like mis delphox and her pet or robin hood or is that it for series 8. Best present for my birthday was seeing pic of missy. also will we be getting classic 3.75 figures like terileptils or candy man or Jamie or adric if so how long please? its so exciting seeing your prototypes. Thanks .
Grand Moff Moffat
May 29th, 2015 - 8:47pmThat would be “fantastic”.
Cyberman Bill
May 30th, 2015 - 2:09amMost likely there won’t be any classic Who figures for a long time! π
booboo
May 30th, 2015 - 10:47amI think it really depends on people buying into it
This is essentially and reinvention of the 5″ line but aimed at collectors, so just a small start but if successful who knows where it could end up
the doctor
May 29th, 2015 - 7:52pmwhat is the dalek behind missy
The Foretold
May 29th, 2015 - 7:45pmI like the idea of a “Black Series”. It’s a way of getting brand new figures out without having to re-release them to make ends meet. A figure would cost a bit more, probably around Β£20-Β£22, but it means it’d come with a bunch of accessories and it wouldn’t be re-released in the future as a way to afford the production of a brand new figure.
I can imagine a Twelfth Doctor figure with sonic screwdriver accessory and a couple of swappable torso pieces for his different costume variants.
Grand Moff Moffat
May 29th, 2015 - 8:43pmNo Silurian π
I wasn’t surprised, the 5″ is dead.
booboo
May 29th, 2015 - 8:45pmnot quite, looks like there is life in it yet although it mauve some time before you see anymore classics
Exterminator
May 29th, 2015 - 6:46pmThat missy figure is looking great. The detail on the 3.75″ figures just gets better and better.
For any doubters out there, take a look at the Avengers Age of Ultron figures in that scale, they’re just awful.
Anonymous
May 29th, 2015 - 6:04pmSo please don’t bite my head of for asking as it is probably obvious but is am I true in saying that is to be a collectors series with UT of new who 5″ figures? And if so does anyone know if they are new people or just rereleases?
booboo
May 29th, 2015 - 6:22pmperfectly valid question
The Collectors series is actually a Character initiative, but will no doubt be sold in USA by underground toys.
Its new and a different way of moving forward, I expect everything to be new figure wise to be honest.
If its supported well the it can move forward to greater things.

May 29th, 2015 - 7:21pmThank you
Professor Black
May 29th, 2015 - 5:29pmWhat is this collectors series I keep reading about? is it genuinely going to happen?
booboo
May 29th, 2015 - 5:46pmyes
looks like it will start with “contemporary” ie new series figures and if successful i suppose its possible some classics may find their way into it but not for some time.
From a business point of view this makes entire sense and the best way to get it established before moving forward…
the astronaut of death
May 29th, 2015 - 7:28pmBooboo do you think they will be 5 inch?
booboo
May 29th, 2015 - 7:31pmi think so
the astronaut of death
May 29th, 2015 - 8:27pmSo is this just a way of bringing back 5 inch figures ? Will we be getting capaldi and new series stuff???
booboo
May 29th, 2015 - 8:29pmyes although don’t know what’s planned as such
don’t expect loads of figures to start with though
The five doctors
May 29th, 2015 - 4:50pmMissy looks good!!!
Nicholas
May 29th, 2015 - 4:20pmSo the upcoming 5″ line is ‘Nu Who’ stuff only. No classics are in development. Hopefully it means a 5″ Capaldi and Missy are coming
DoctorRiverTARDIS
May 29th, 2015 - 4:50pmhow do you know that there are no classic in development?
booboo
May 29th, 2015 - 4:53pmbecause he (Alasdair Dewar) has said so
DoctorRiverTARDIS
May 29th, 2015 - 4:53pmnevermind I just checked al dewars twitter
Grand Moff Moffat
May 29th, 2015 - 8:46pmReally? None???
(Sighs) Who in the world will I display the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Doctor ( from Seeds of Doom and Robot) with?
Honestly, why not release at least a couple classic figures?
Sure as heck that Sarah Jane, Jamie, Romana, and a Silurian would sell.
booboo
May 29th, 2015 - 8:48pmsell yes, but sell enough no, seems like the USA and Aus markets are poor on the classics
However the collectors series may be a way forward
CG
May 30th, 2015 - 12:14amI’m afraid Booboo is correct. Even though I am in Australia and pick up every figure set I can and I love classics, they don’t seem to sell that well. We have tonnes of Doctor and Dalek sets left as well as some really old sets like Ttime Warrior set and Peri and Sil still floating around. Here in Australia, on the other hand, Titans go crazy and people seem more interested in Doctor Who books and DVDs rather than figures and other merchandise.
When the 4th doctor regenerated arrived just before Christmas as well as the holographic 10th doctor, I bought them up really quickly as to not miss out but at my particular store, hardly any have sold.
Anonymous
May 29th, 2015 - 3:21pmThe 3.75 line is what it is…not convinced its any more successful (other than being cheaper to make), as I never see them in the shops…but no point complaining now – that’s all CO want to do and that’s fine. However, what I really want to hear about are the UT 5 inch exclusives….that’s worth getting exciting about! What are UT up to these days…are they still in business?
booboo
May 29th, 2015 - 3:25pm3.75″ is doing fine, if it wasn’t they wouldn’t be steaming a head with more and more figures
UT now have numerous licences of which Doctor Who is just a very small part, things are coming just have to be patient for a month or so yet
rusty
May 29th, 2015 - 2:58pmAl dewar posted a pic off a classic 5 Silurian and a 3.75 missy
booboo
May 29th, 2015 - 2:59pmwouldn’t get your hopes up on the Silurian
Doctor Paradigm
May 29th, 2015 - 3:12amWhat about that Danny figure in his Cyberman version that was hinted with the presentation of the latest wave? Is it going to hapen? ‘Cause I’m really looking forward for it! A set with him and Missy would be just awesome…!
Wholords2
May 29th, 2015 - 7:52amIt’s supposed to be in wave 4C so hopefully at the end of this year
