Sorry if this has been asked before, but has a check list of the 100 been released at all? I’m trying to work out what I have missed, but only the Art Prints, Badges and Postcards seem to have the numbers displayed, so I’m not even sure if the Coasters are part.

I know that 79 seems to have been used twice, for both the ‘Allons-y!’ and ‘…Are Cool’ badges, so it’s getting hard to work out what fits where.

Also, was the Meta-Crisis Art Print supposed to be re-released?

    Many thanks

Hi Anthony (Formerly) @ FP, just wondering about the decision for the font of the 9th and 10th Doctor prints. I’m sure there’s an explanation I haven’t thought of. Would just be very interested in the BTS process. Were mock ups of the font using the 2005 logo made and didn’t look good?

Hey TKJ, truth be told it’s over a year ago now, I can’t remember why we didn’t go shiny oval for Ninth or fiery oval for Tenth / Meta. According to the files on my phone the original drafts always looked like this so it wasn’t a BBC mandated change during approvals.

      Some bonus development facts:

The War Doctor logo and fire effect based on Big Finish’s War Doctor font: https://images.app.goo.gl/LJJn2PyiTCRh6GQx9

Fugitive is First’s logo mixed with Thirteenth’s.

We hadn’t seen the new logo when we finished up the Curator. Luckily, as I doubt we’d have had approval on it otherwise! That logo was created to give an autumnal feel to the Fourth Doctor’s.

The hardest logo to make work was the Seventh. That handwritten “Doctor” was the problem. I think we eventually just about made it work!

I’m so disappointed with the 60th so far. Can only hope they’ve been saving it up for the latter part of the year, with the actual date and new specials. We’ve had less merch than ever, we should have had an extra Collection set, some reanimated episodes, way more figures. Instead this stuff from Forbidden Planet – still, Forbidden Planet and Big Finish seem to be carrying the torch for the 60th, so got to give them that credit!

Can’t believe the range has come to an end it seems only yesterday that the 1st Doctor line up was revealed. Huge props to the designer for the prints as they all look so stunning especially with the vortex, companions and villians all present. Obviously I couldn’t collect everything but I will be very happy to display all 4 postcard sets whenever they get released. I only wish that the Curator was included in postcard set 2 as opposed to the meta crisis doctor as David gets 3 placements in that set but its a small gripe at the end of the day.

Can’t wait to see what’s in store for 15th doctor merchandise.

I’m sure my sample of the set had the Curator in it, but not the Fourteenth Doctor so it’s possible one was switched for the other.

There’s plans to do a ’50th anniversary of the 4th Doctor’ range – so maybe the Curator is being held back for that set?

The Curator Postcard is in the Doctors Postcard Set 1 making 9 postcards each for Set 1 and Set 2.

Aha! There you go! I know nothing – nothing!

I’ll ask FP if they can update this web listing to make clear he’s included: https://forbiddenplanet.com/387036-doctor-who-the-60th-anniversary-diamond-collection-postcard-set-celebration-set-i/

Will there be pin badges for the modern doctors, similar to the badges produced for the classic doctors?

I’ve pitched a few ideas to Titan, so maybe?

I’m not in the loop on anything to do with the upcoming specials or the next series, but I think this is probably where the next monster enamels will come from. The push, rightfully so, is on the new now that the 60th range has concluded.

Would have preferred and bought the badges without the text . The artworks rather good though.

Agreed – I would really have liked classic monster badges without the text. It’s the monster designs I like, just on their own without words. Sorry Anthony, I know… everyone’s a critic! 🙂

Ha! No worries Jason Z. We did one without text (Bok) but FP’s Directors asked for text to be added onto the rest. So we did try!

I was gonna be good and not buy anything but that 13th pin was very tempting, crazy how it fell into my online shopping basket

As if we’ve reached the end of this range already! I’ve certainly enjoyed it. My wardrobe is nice and full with new shirts and a few sweatshirts, and all the art prints are lined up along the top of my wall.
My cups of tea are proudly contained in my “you were expecting someone else?” Mug, and my coffees in my 2nd Dr mug (yes, im that sad to have different mugs for different beverages) And I’ve dotted the pin badges around my action figure collection.
Cheers to Anthony and others involved in this range, and for the little behind the scenes bits of info along the way.
I do have one more question tho…Will we be getting the 14th Dr in this range?

Aww, thanks Judooning. This is the point I stepped off and left FP, so a bit happy-sad seeing the last of my stuff finally all now ‘live’.

I think moving forwards it’s all about Fourteenth and then Fifteenth Doctors, but rightly so.

(Although… I’m still asked for opinions every so often – so there might be a few surprises in 2024; and I’m still crossing my fingers we get to see the Eighth Doctor “Bring Me Knitting” quote realised.)

For those interested, the approach to the “Celebration” designs was to create a contrast to what Titan did for each Doctor in 2013. They were white shirts, big montage of Doctor, monsters and their Doctor number. We skipped around in order a little bit, never sure if the budget would stretch to all the Doctors (remember this was a time of high inflation and economic uncertainty) – so I think we designed in this formation:

      1st — 2nd — 12th — 4th — 3rd — War — 8th — 9th — Fugitive — 13th — 11th – 10th – 5th — 6th — Meta — 7th — Curator — 14th

We did it this was, opposed to sequentially, as if the budget had been pulled midway through we could justify allowing the process to continue to ‘fill in the gaps’. After all, if 15/18 were finalised, we may as well complete the set…! Luckily the plug was never pulled.

Of course War, 12th, 13th and Fugitive weren’t part of the 2013 releases, and it was fun finally updating 8th and 11th with new end dates too (as neither stated 2013 before).

Quote designs were almost always done at the same time as the ‘Celebration’ designs.

The creative process started in Sept 2021, with the final design landing in June 2022! Hence why I would occasionally shout off on here if somebody accused these designs of being lazy or mocked up overnight!

I definitely enjoyed the more specific designs this time for episodes and quotes. I think my favourite is the Impossible Planet design followd by the 9th Dr “Fantastic” design. The 5th and 6th Dr designs also deserve a mention.
For the 50th stuff, I was basically still on a pocket money wage from my parents so was extremely limited in what i could buy. But now I’m lucky enough to be able to indulge in it all, so I’ve made the most if it this time.
Looking forward to 14th/15th Dr merch!

With the twelfth doctor coming out now ahead of schedule is everything being brought forward?

I think they are releasing in stores at around the correct times listed in the main body of this page – but web dates moved forwards. The items are all in-stock in FP’s warehouse and have been for a while, so it’s no issue from that side of things.

At a complete guess it’s because the RTD merch is starting to come out and get spotlighted now (the sonic, the Target novelisations, etc.) so they want the latter era Doctors to still have their moment in the sun before the attention is grabbed elsewhere. Again, just me speculating. I haven’t been involved at FP for 13 months.
