Didn’t receive a despatch email but my #214 & #215 issues have just been delivered. Styggron Figure is so good – worth waiting so long for.

Seems as though some have recieved their Skaak and Styggrons after all this time. Maybe now they can play catch up to the subscribers who have been waiting for Issues 207-212 or at least start listing in shop. With any luck the Cleaner bot and junk console should just be around the corner then we will be back on track leaving Issue 216+ for the end of August onwards.

Yes, I received issues 214 & 215 this morning. But I still think EM needs a good shake-up in their communications and customer service departments.

Just had this email from Eaglemoss.

    Dear Peter,

We are sorry to inform you that due to multiple issues impacting our supply chain, your next issues of the Doctor Who Figurine Collection are currently not available for dispatch.

Our subscriptions team are working hard to resolve these issues and we hope to be able to resume your regular shipments, soon.

As a means of apology, we have created an exclusive 10% discount code for our online eshop. Use the code TAKEYOUR10* to save 10%. We hope this will go a little way to making up for the disruption to your collection.

We will be in contact as soon as we have an update, however please feel free to contact us via email at [email protected] if you have any questions in the meantime.

    Kind regards,
The Doctor Who Figurine Collection team.

If we get the cleaner or junk console this month it will feel like a triumph. May and were still not up to date. Last i got was styggron but still no servo. I got the take your 10,theyve been sending a fair few of those out. I don,t even subscribe. They know where they can shove that.

I got that email on Friday and sent a reply to them.

I wouldn’t mind a delay if it wasn’t that these figurines have already been in the shops over a month ago. It’s ridiculous. If the next rare Dalek isn’t amazing, I will be cancelling and buying from the shop, and asking for a refund on the 6 or 8 issues already paid for by that point.

I totally agree with you, The Werewolf. I’ve been a loyal subscriber since issue 1, but it seems to count for nothing. I get so annoyed that the figurines I am waiting for have been available in the shops for over a month or more. It’s ridiculous, and about time Eaglemoss starting fulfilling the subscriber orders first. Like many others, it’s just the rare Daleks that are keeping me from cancelling my subscription.

Fantastic if it does go to 250. I will need a lot more space though!! Another year will take us to about the 8 1/2 year mark. What an achievement . Any news about the next rare dalek?

nothing has been said officially (although it rarely is to be hoenst) but I’m seeing 250 being mentioned around.

As we are so close to 220 an official announcement either way would be nice

    • the ergon

      January 11th, 2022 - 9:01pm

Yes 250 is the rumour but lets face it they surely wouldn,t commision a new editor just to oversee the remaning last half dozen or so Issues.

    • Doug Who

      January 11th, 2022 - 10:57pm

I’d be more than happy if it was extended to 250. It would be fantastic to get some more of those classic figurines like Styggron.

However if the regular series does stop at 220, there’s no reason why more can’t be released as per the Star Trek Ships series. That would still require an editor and anyway they would still need to fill any vacancy even if was for just a few issues.

I really hope it does go beyond 220 though!

Think we might see Eve of Daleks Dalek figure with new gun and arm. Would be easy figure to do plus goes along with the aim to produce figures of all Dalek variants.

As people are discussing Neil’s successor further down the comments, I thought I should pop in and say hello. I’m Mark Wright, and will be stepping in to the enormous shoes left by my friend Neil. Neil has done an incredible job steering the collection through many years, and I only hope I can match his passion, love and attention to detail that has made the part work what it is. He has frequently gone above and beyond in his work on the Collection. For that, we should all be very grateful.

I’m delighted to be coming on board, and I’m not entirely new to the world of Doctor Who or the Figurine Collection. Thanks to Neil, I’ve written the accompanying mags for most of the Figurine specials going back to the first TARDIS special. For Eaglemoss I also edit issues of the Star Trek Starships Collection.

Elsewhere in Doctor Who I have been writing and producing for Big Finish for over 20 years, I spent several years as an editorial assistant for DWM before moving over to co-edit the Doctor Who: The Complete History part work. I still write features for DWM and co-wrote the Who-Ology miscellany for BBC Books back in 2003. So I am very well versed in all things Doctor Who.

Right now I’m getting to grips with what we have coming up, and I’m unable to talk about what the future may hold for the Collection. I hope to pop in and out of here from time to time, so do say hello.

For now, thanks for all your support of the Collection, it’s very much appreciated.

      Hi Mark,

Welcome! Great to hear from you and hope you enjoy chatting on here when you get the chance! Hope you find this forum a pleasant and friendly place (it is usually!)

As I’ve said to Neil before, the Figurine Collection is by far and my favourite range of ‘Who’ merchandise and where else would we get a Mandrel or a Navarino! Just fantastic!

Goos luck with your editorship with the magazine and please pass on thanks and best regards to Neil.

Best wishes for 2022 and looking forward to more of these brilliant figurines.

It’s always great to hear stuff (Straight from the horses mouth so to speak) rather than just hearsay. I think that’s why alot of Fans really appreciated Neil keeping in touch with us.

      Hi Mark,

Just wondered if at some point in the future EM might consider running a series of Doctor Who Spacecraft, for example:-

      – Sontaran spaceship (modern design)
      – Angstrom’s ship
      – Hesperus from End of Time
      – Spaceships from Nightmare of Eden – Empress & Hecate
      – Jagaroth spaceship
      – Shuttle from Invisible Enemy
      – Spaceship from Terror of the Vervoids
      – Captain Jack’s Chula ship
      – SS Madame De Pompadour
      – Dalek Saucer and other Dalek designs
      – The Ark in Space / Nerva Beacon
      – Various Cyberships (Revenge craft, Cyber shuttle – silver nemesis, cybercarrier – ascension)
      – Judoon spaceship
      – Tsuranga

Please sort out the mess that eaglemoss is at the moment. Had no subs issues since August even though stores have had deliveries of newer figurines. Last issue received was 203. Complain and we get a different excuse every time. They are quick enough to take money. My patience has run out and very close to cancelling subscription. Have also been sent wrong items that I’ve ordered from the shop. Eaglemoss is a joke at the moment

    • booboo

      January 13th, 2022 - 11:58am

Saw your comment on Facebook, we are nothing to do with Forbidden Planet, nor Eaglemoss for that matter and neither we or anyone else here should have complaints thrown at them to be hoenst, that’s not what we are here for.

      Hi Bob

Sorry to hear your frustrations, but I’m afraid that’s not something I’m able to answer to. I’m purely editorial and have no link with the sales and customer side of things I’m afraid. All I can advise is that you keep trying with customer services. Sorry that’s not very helpful.

      Best wishes,

I do apologise if I upset anyone. That was not my intention. I think that the collection has been mostly fantastic and have been a subscriber since day 1. But it is frustrating that some of us have had nothing since issue 203 and there are some fantastic figures after that. Customer services just replied with missed the delivery run will be in next delivery which also did not arrive. There is a few of us in the same boat I know. Anyway I do hope all this eventually get sorted and the collection gets another extension

I don’t suppose Mark knows if anyone at Eaglemoss is pushing for a range which has a proper crack at ALL of Gerry Anderson’s series. We get all these American series being covered but barely a glimpse of stuff produced by the master of quality homegrown British TV effects – Fireball XL5, Stingray, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, UFO etc ….so far just a half hearted attempt at three Space 1999 eagles which were far from the best examples of the craft on the market.

That’s a good list Ergon, and it goes to show just how many more possibilities there are despite how well the range has done already.

I’m keeping my wishlist to a minimum these days, but I can’t help but keep my fingers crossed for the following:

      Eaglemoss
      1. Mara

      Warlord Games
      1. Master (Dhawan) and Cybermaster x2
      2. Skaak on horseback and Sontaran warriors x2
      3. Skithra Queen
      4. Kerblam Man x2/3

      Character Options
      1. Master (Dhawan)
      2. Master (Ainley)
      3. Lucie
      4. Tegan
      5. Nyssa
      6. Adric

Yes Tim with something like Doctor Who as long as they continue with the series were always going to see the finishing line in the distance but its a very slow reach to completion.
Looking at your list i think its more likely youll achieve your wish with something like Warlord and character with their exclusive variety.. I,d love to see your painted warlord version of Skaak on horseback.
This year has got to be the year we are in with a shout at getting those Fifth Doctor companions which in turn could mean costume Variations for Tegan and Nyssa. My next most wanted as far as companions are concerned.

No Krarg, Ergon. Oh you do disappoint me! 🙂

P.S. Kandy Man is mostly painted now. Few details to finish (metal bits and the ‘frosting’) but we are definitely getting there. Looking not too bad even if I do say so myself. Maybe another week and done!

    • The ergon

      January 9th, 2022 - 3:17pm

Well i,m glad your enthused and optimistic doug. I really am dragging my feet. If its a fine a specimen as you say, its going to be a tough act to follow but i want my own kandyman and it will get done but its going to have to look as good as i can get before or if i put on collections. (I think you will get some very pleasing comments) or it goes pride of place in my cabinet..
P.s: i had a feeling youd bring up the krarg but its just slightly out of my most wanted collective radar. Maybe save that for the 60th anniversary list. Theres plenty for mark and his team to be getting on with from my list alone. I was slightly remiss not including a chumbley. So easy to miss something and goes to show we are a long way yet from fulfilling our completist dream.

When i first started The kandyman around the same time as you and coleman doug, there was a lot of stop -start, a tortoise and the hare race so to speak. Now you say your version will be completed in a week or so, suddenly i,m hearing the mission impossible theme. Thats what procrastination does.

    • Doug Who

      January 9th, 2022 - 10:44pm

      Hi Ergon,

Mine sat unfinished for months and months and I came down with some bug after Christmas so I think just sitting around feeling rubbish made me take up the modelling tools again. I have never felt SO ridiculous glueing loads of tiny balls to the head! Utter madness!!

I just did a wee bit everyday and suddenly yesterday seemed ripe for painting. Now that’s mostly done the end is in sight – if I can find the right kind of wire! All I did today was varnish the top part of the body. You’ll get there. I’m sure you’re more than halfway there?

Looking forward to hearing what others have to say! You might all hate it!

    • the ergon

      January 10th, 2022 - 10:50am

If its anything like your last customs i,m sure it will be superb. Actually there is an alternative to gluing tiny balls which i found time consuming and that is by using round shaped cutters all way around the head. varnishing is great for bringing out all those vibrant colours but its not ideal for polymer. I used a little coloured clay for the body and works just as good and i went for a ceruleun blue enamel paint for the head and looks the right shade as it does in some scenes rather than light blue like some opted for but we all have our own ways of doing things.
looking forward to seeing it when complete. Then after a much deserved sabbatical will you be resuming with anything new? lets face it if you can achieve The Kandyman, nothing is off the table.

    Reply
    • Squall

      January 8th, 2022 - 6:43pm

Neil Corry dismissed a Foamasi for imo very silly reasons, basically for looking like itself. He always seemed to have an issue with non-humanoid blobby sort of aliens. Hopefully the new editor is more open-minded and will give us a Foamasi, Slyther, Plasmaton, Krynoid Macra & all the other creatures nixed for spurious reasons.

    • booboo

      January 8th, 2022 - 6:52pm

Or he could be worse and people get nothing that fits their future expectations.

Neil did more to get this collection to where it is today than people can possibly imagine.

Doubt the new guy will interact like Neil did either.

    • Doug Who

      January 8th, 2022 - 11:12pm

I’ll really miss Neil’s interactions on here. He didn’t have to engage with us. It felt like there was a direct connection between the makers and the fans and that’s a rare thing. His good humour and patience were very much appreciated…and he liked my customs!

As Booboo says no one did more to get this collection to the amazing place it is today.

I would still like to see a Foamasi though! 🙂

    • SamWho

      January 9th, 2022 - 6:05am

I didn’t know he was leaving that’s a great shame especially as some people don’t seem to realise the efforts it must take to make hard unusual unique aliens that are probably harder to get commissioned in the first place let alone have a model that works and can be made on mass production
Neil should definitely be thanked for all the hundreds of figurines he’s got made to make all the fans happy to finally have in their collections

I’m sorry but I do have to agree with Squall about the Foamasi reason for not being made is quite silly.
I won’t mention names but I can clearly remember the quote about not doing the Foamasi because it’s just an head on a big green sleeping bag and wouldn’t look good.
Browsing on the internet I’ve seen a couple of custom CO scale Foamasi (that have kept true to their origins) and they look Superb as figures.

    • booboo

      January 9th, 2022 - 12:09pm

Neil’s tongue in cheek descriptions are well know if you follow him on twitter, and its shame people are now name calling over one figure.

    • Doug Who

      January 9th, 2022 - 1:45pm

Indeed Booboo. Some ‘Who’ monsters didn’t look good on screen to say the least so thinking about how to do them or whether to do them at all will take time and thought. You certainly can’t take them too seriously! Remember Neil always wanted to do the Taran Wood Beast, which was hardly a triumph on screen.

The Primords, Monoids, Navarino have all made fantastic figurines and weren’t the best designs ever shall we say. Basically Neil was right – the Foamasi had great heads…the bodies…well not so great! Speaking personally, there’s only been one real disappointment in the collection and that’s Aggedor, which (and I stress for me) was too far from how it looked on screen.

My most wanted figurine is the Krarg, which is basically a lot of triangles stuck together over a flared trouser suit!

    • Popplewick

      January 9th, 2022 - 10:21pm

Theres a custom foamasi somewhere on google which is superb, basically the foamasi is a large chirruping chameleon. The same goes for that strange Masterplan delegate which always reminds me of a chess piece someone knocked up their own eaglemoss styled replica and it was brilliant. Just a little skill a little determination and some imagination like our very own Coleman’s masterpiece Menoptra. If this new guy can try and secure the rights to produce a Peter Cushing figure it’ll be a significant achievement in my book.

    • booboo

Pretty sure a studio canal licence will have to come with some serious number crunching from the powers that pull the purse strings for effectively very few figures in comparison to other licences, i would be all for it but the numbers would have to significantly add up for EM.

The figurine collection was never ultimately down to just one person as some people seem to think but several different levels.

@ Squall: Well , they *do* look like green duvet covers with netting thrown over. So there 🙂

    • Doug Who

      January 16th, 2022 - 1:32am

Think of poor June Hudson, Neil. All that work experimenting with new fabrics and it ends up looking like a green duvet 😉

If you see this I just wanted to say thanks for all your hard work on the collection, and taking the time to chat with us (sometimes equally hard work)

Good luck with all you do in the future and do pop in on here if you have the time and inclination!

The Foamasi was superb when you saw it’s claws, or it’s eyes or it’s tail. Then what a disappointment when seen in it’s entiriety. However it was the main monster of that serial ( the Leisure Hive itself should lead a set of classic Who buildings ) and still looks superb as a figurine as at least one fan has shown out there. The scene where one of the creatures persues Stimson smashes his glasses and ultimately looms out and attacks him is excellent.

I’ve been gagging for a Seer, it’s the only plausible way to represent Underworld. And they have a great look.

Well if they got their finger out and started the Who vehicles series Ive been waiting so long the Minyan P7E rated as one of the best classic space craft and would be worthy of being reproduced like one of Eaglemoss Trek Starships……

      January 7th, 2022 - 12:03pm

Watch this space! I have an idea about how to approach the Anti-matter entity! Not sure if it will work but I’m going to give it a go…

    • Squall

      January 7th, 2022 - 11:05pm

The Sorensen Anti-Man would be the way to go for sure. Hope they get round to it!

    • The Werewolf

      January 8th, 2022 - 2:20am

I don’t think it would be physically possible for them to do the Anti-Man on its own as that red translucent thing as a figurine at all.

Re The Werewolf, It would be Anti-Man in his solid Mr Hyde form, not translucent red obviously as that wouldn’t be possible

Always said there should be a set containing armed humanoid soldiers – an Earth empire soldier from ‘Frontier’ a Skybase soldier from the Mutants a Morestran crewman with one of those rifles and a Skonnon soldier from Horns of Nimon.

      Hi Ergon,

Yes, I got some wire this morning although it’s a wee bit thicker than I thought!

I have a tiny paintbrush which may do for the spiral eyes. It might be easier to use a pen however! Still got the hands to finish. Taking ages and I’ll be glad to get this one done!

The fendahleen should be released first and the fendahl core as portrayed by Wanda should be released as the following issue.

    • the ergon

      January 6th, 2022 - 6:30pm

yes Doug the hands and the eyes especially at such scale are the most difficult. Its all that minute detail. i,d like to finish him soon myself but i need to be in the proper frame of mind. I was just wondering how i,m going to complete 2 i,d started. Its just little things like the features and not wanting to miss anything out before i mould. I,m going to mould the plasmaton i did last year as a bit of the paintwork on that is fading. My days have been pretty hectic and i,m determined to pencil in some free days to complete these and galvanise myself so i can get back into it this month. No rush on your part. I,ll look out for your announcement when completed.

    • the ergon

      January 6th, 2022 - 9:30pm

It helps if you dont have shaky hands, have self doubt and low frustration tolerance like myself either doug. I,m getting in preparation, just the other day, I painted a tiny black dognose on my primord and i dont know how but i managed to do those question mark lapels on sixys shirt from the recent Two Doctors set which were conspicuous by there absence. So its put me in good stead for when i attempt those Kandyman eyes again if nothing else.
