None, I’m looking for a larger clearer image of the cover. I tried looking through the Diamond Previews website but couldn’t find anything. I know it’s featured in their printed catalogue but don’t have any access to that. I also tried London Concrete & couldn’t find anything there either.

Just been looking round the net and the best results come from a paint called (Krylon premium metalic chrome finish) in a spray can gives about beat results for a believable chrome finish.
Two coats usually for indoor use only.

I think the Raston robot should be brought Back into Nu Who and be the main Villian in one of the new stories.
Would be interesting to see how the new Doctor coped with this formidable foe.
Don’t know if anyone would agree?

Do you think it was intentional to release this and the impaled Cyberman side by side in issues? I like the idea of having a couple of issues one after another that relate to each other.

i was watching destiny earlier and i thought exactly the same. Maybe next would be a great idea to release that gooderson Davros with sphere alongside a movellan. They would cover more story characters. How cool would it have been to have had the blue faced Android after the Borad. That ships sailed.

Love it. Also surprised this one took so long. Maybe there’s hope for Heironymous yet. Shame they’ve gone for an inaccurate shiny all over paint job when only the face should be shiny but nevermind.

Not 202 / 203 but you need to check to see if you paid for the Angel and if so send in a photo of the payment as there was a glitch and they couldn’t tie payments to accounts so you may not get it otherwise.

look for £21.99 around mid June

The Raston Warrior Robot was one of the best parts of the Five Doctors episode, wiping out that unfortunate squad of Cybermen with ease…So many fans of the EM collection will be pleased this figure is finally being issued.

I remember the awesome ‘zip!’ sound effect when it activated.

Sorry. I rushed my comment. Iwas thinking of those androids from earthshock. Same costume design.

    • The ergon

      August 26th, 2021 - 3:20pm

What i should have said jrt was five doctors twinpack unless something big is already planned for that story. I wouldn,t mind a full set of those moved by borusa on that death zone ‘replica’.

    • JRT!

      August 26th, 2021 - 6:25pm

    • Rex Farrel

      August 26th, 2021 - 8:42pm

The Five Docs pieces still exist, so in theory a perfect set of 3D scanned replicas could be released. I wonder if they could be done for the price of a Harrops figure each? I’m also surprised no one has done a Yeti statue replica, officially at least, molded off an original. Seems a no brainer, but it hasn’t happened for some reason. (Fancy starting a business, booboo?)

I have a feeling this will be a 5.5 inch figure in the Five Doctors B&M Set or The Earthshock set painted black using the same sculpt as the Voord and Sensorites

Wasn,t there a material that could have been used to give the face a shiny metallic look for more accuracy. I can be pedantic when it comes to missing minor details but i still love it and it was one that just had to be in this collection.

      August 26th, 2021 - 5:08pm

I seem to recall Character had a similar problem with the Silver nemesis Cybermen that is just wasn’t possible with a mass produced item

    • Rex Farrel

      August 26th, 2021 - 9:30pm

Vac Metallisation/Metallization is the process. The first post here explains how it works and the issues with it: https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/chroming-explaining-hasbros-current-lots-or-nothing-approach.985214/

The metallised parts need to be on one sprue for the process, separate from non-metallic pieces. You then also have to apply perfectly transparent plastic thinly over the top.

    • Coleman

      August 28th, 2021 - 11:51am

Rex is right it’s called Vac metallization. Kenner and Hasbro used it all the time for their C3POs Chrome gold look or TC14s silver chrome look but if you look at these same figures over the last Ten years or so, theyve stopped using this process stating it’s much too expensive now. (And that’s for a 15 pound 3.75 inch figure).

    • the ergon

      August 28th, 2021 - 12:18pm

So what do they use as an alternative if they were to manuafacture a C3PO figure now?

    • Coleman

      August 28th, 2021 - 3:21pm

Hello Ergon, the last ten years Hasbros been manufacturing C3PO, etc both in 3.75 and 6 inch scale theyve just used a gold paint, but it as the same sheen as this Raston robot figure. It’s not very realistic compared to the gold chrome finish the Vac metallization used to produce.
Fans have been complaining to Hasbro about bringing Vac back for years and years but to no avail.

    • The ergon

      August 28th, 2021 - 5:13pm

I remember the original 1977-1978 star wars figures and as i recall 3Po had a plastic metallic face and body and R2 had the same and stickers for its circuitry. It was a metallic shiny finish. I,m sure thet could have found a cheap plastic for the raston face mask. Im going to see if i can source something that might work to attach.

    • Coleman

      August 28th, 2021 - 5:32pm

Yes, that’s about the only way Eaglemoss could have done it, used a separate piece of plastic for the face, Vac Metalised it then glued it onto the head later.
They have done similar things before, by attaching plastic parts to the metallic resin such as on the vashta Nerada and Cloister Wraith.

    • Coleman

      August 28th, 2021 - 5:47pm

Ergon, I wonder what Doug Who used for the Brain of Morpho base, it looks like a proper chrome silver. (Don’t know if it came like that or he painted it?)

    • the ergon

      August 28th, 2021 - 6:43pm

Thats the only problem i have with it. It resembles one of those lead armature men you use for making figurine sculpts with or like those metallic metal men mobiles/ stress toys you used to beable to buy. The faceplate/ mask is what gives it that distinctive look.

    • the ergon

      August 28th, 2021 - 10:09pm

i,d be a bit wary of spraypaint unless it was for a wider or larger surface. Might consider using mirror chrome touch up.
