Dr Who Figurine Collection #1 The 11th Doctor

Figurine Collection 01 The Eleventh Doctor

Celebrate 50 years of Doctor Who this fantastic new figurine collection. The series draws from every era show and includes all eleven versions of the Doctor plus his greatest monsters.

All the figurines are carefully produced in 1:21 scale, and cast in a specially formulated metallic resin before being painted by hand and individually numbered.

The specially formulated resin and high quality sculpting allow the figurines to reproduce an incredible level of detail right down to the mesh in the Silurian Warrior’s uniform and the controls on Davros’s console.

I’m thinking about subscribing, but I’m not sure about whether or not to get the extra plinths and binders. Are the plinths worth it for all the extra you pay over the course of the subscription? I’ve also seen mention of potential special issues, will these be available to non subscribers? Just weighing up the pros and cons before I take the plunge :).

Decided to go out and buy a pristine copy of issue one from the shops bearing in mind the card backing etc. Could not believe the variation in paint-I am sure Matt Smith would not have liked some of them.

anyone worked out yet just how many figures there could be?

      400-500?

    • WouldYouLikeAJellyBaby

      August 30th, 2013 - 2:56pm

That would take much, much longer than 3 years to collect…

    • Anonymous

      August 30th, 2013 - 2:58pm

Well there’s 26 magazines a year, more than 26 potential figures are introduced per year so potentially it could go on forever.

Other things like the DVD Files will have a finite lifespan because they are getting the material for 7 DVDs a year, but are releasing 26 a year so they’ll hit problems four or five years from now.

    • WouldYouLikeAJellyBaby

      August 30th, 2013 - 3:02pm

With that many Issues they could release every companion in all of their different costumes from different episodes including The Doctors (Hoping they will make Second Doctor in Fur Coat and maybe Dark Eyes Eighth Doctor plus Eleventh Doctors with Fezes, Stetsons, Tophats, Deerstalkers etc.

    • Anonymous

      August 30th, 2013 - 3:08pm

It’s a bit unlikely. Variants like that are very rare (their Marvel range only had two in the entire eight year run, both as special issues rather than in the main run).

    • Anonymous

      August 30th, 2013 - 4:06pm

Although, with their premium subscription system I guess it is possible for them to include another lot of figures after the Daleks, maybe some special Doctor variants or something along those lines.

    • HornsOfAzal

      August 30th, 2013 - 12:16am

Please not minor incidental human characters…if we have to have humans at least major characters like the Brigadier and then not until we have the classic aliens that aren’t being produced anywhere else….

    • MasterKasterborous

      August 30th, 2013 - 8:49am

To be fair Vastra and Jenny aren’t minor characters though I would like some more older figures.

    • Anonymous

      August 30th, 2013 - 10:23am

I’m sure there are plenty of older characters to come. Looking at the line-up the first ten issues are entirely from the most recent three Doctors.

However, when you look at the “coming soon” list out of the seven characters, five are from the original run. I get the feeling they’ve filled up the first lot of issues with modern characters to draw in the younger fans because they are only likely to buy the first few issues anyway. The collectors will stick with it.

If you really want something, post a wishlist on their Facebook page.

    • booboo

      August 30th, 2013 - 10:25am

i wonder if they will publish a fullish list of planned figures, they have with start trek ships

    • Anonymous

      August 30th, 2013 - 10:41am

They probably will but I hope they don’t. If they release too much information and offer themselves no flexibility we could be looking at up to three years before we see anything to do with the Twelfth Doctor.

Star Trek has the advantage of only having one movie every few years. Doctor Who pretty much has a series every year with lots of characters included.

    • Anonymous

      August 30th, 2013 - 11:37am

We don’t know what they are bringing out, at the moment they have revealed 17 figures and that’s it. They have rough plans for 80 figures and some specials, but we have no idea what they will be other than what they have announced and what they have said they are looking at.

For all we know the Yeti may very well be coming out, we just need to wait and see.

I keep imagining beautiful replicas of the v-ship, minnow and beta dart from space pirates done the same way…. So many classic ships and I dont think we’ve ever seen any of them – bar the sontaran globe – released in kit or model form….

    • Trenzalore

      August 30th, 2013 - 12:06am

Dosen’t mean we are not getting them, this collection could go on for a while, it could easily do most of the first doctor era monsters.

    • HornsOfAzal

      August 30th, 2013 - 12:28am

Assuming they produce more than 80 its going to be at least 2 and a half years before a yeti comes out it’s not on the list the only Hartnell and Troughton aliens listed are dalek/cyberman variants and an ice warrior….even then its not all the cybermen……

    • HornsOfAzal

      August 30th, 2013 - 12:52am

My maths is wrong…I should have said 3 and a half years …I’ll be well on my way to 60 then…if Im lucky….if we’re all lucky….

    • Anonymous

      August 30th, 2013 - 10:02am

It’s not on the list? The official list has 17 figures on it and NONE of them are Hartnell or Troughton characters.

I’m presuming when you say “the list” you mean that booklet with pictures of monsters in it that came with the first issue (which only contains about 40 characters, and some of the already announced line-up isn’t included in there).

Besides, the Yeti are such large characters they will almost certainly be in a special issue alongside the range, not within the main range.

    • HornsOfAzal

      August 30th, 2013 - 11:46am

Presumably you didnt get the list of planned characters……

    • Anonymous

      August 30th, 2013 - 12:01pm

You presume correctly, because there is no such thing.

If you have such a list would you kindly share it with us, because so far I’m getting the impression your “list of planned characters” is the fold-out from the “Series Guide” in issue 1.

    • Doctor Who Crazy Ross

      August 30th, 2013 - 1:48pm

If I’m right, there are around 47 figurines that have been confirmed & there are 80 issues…. so there’s still 33 figurines to be confirmed (but by the time that these figurines are released; they might be based on the Capaldi era).

    • Trenzalore

      August 30th, 2013 - 1:54pm

Where did you find the information about 47 figures being confirmed and what are they? From what I have heard there are 10 figure we know of plus another 9 doctors therefore 19 figures.

    • booboo

      August 30th, 2013 - 1:59pm

they are talking about the images in the leaflet for each doctor, i wouldn’t call it confirmation at this stage though

    • Trenzalore

      August 30th, 2013 - 2:05pm

Oh right, I agree that is not confirmation, nowhere does it say ‘those pictures at the front is what we are going to release’ I thought they were just there to look nice. I seriously doubt they will do a Vervoid any time soon, dwm once got a complaint for putting it on their front cover because well… never mind. And a Terelptil I don’t think they will do that any time soon. I think they are just important monsters from that era as the title is ’50 years of doctors and monsters’

    • Anonymous

      August 30th, 2013 - 2:37pm

The figures that have been officially announced are

The Eleventh Doctor (The Pandorica Opens)
      Davros (Journey’s End)
Cyber Controller (The Age of Steel)
      Weeping Angel (Flesh and Stone)
      Silurian Warrior (Cold Blood)

I can’t believe how much the Matt Smith figure has changed between the test issues to the general release, the test one looks so scrawny. The face on the new one looks a lot better. I decided to get the general release one because it looks a lot better than the test one (And at £2.99 it was no big loss). I did have to shop around my local area to try and find the one with the best paint job though. 🙂
