February 3rd, 2014 - 6:28amwich one are you getting first?
Mattisthedoctor
January 30th, 2014 - 9:23pmpeculiar, it seems the fifth doctor sonic is selling better than the eighth doctor, judging by the higher price for the fifth on amazon and it is sold out on both forbidden planets, character is struggling to keep up with demand
Balakin
January 30th, 2014 - 10:10pmIt proves my theory that the Doctor makes the sonic cool and not the opposite and Davison’s Doctor was always really popular if I’m not mistaken.
Mattisthedoctor
January 30th, 2014 - 10:52pmYeah I know what you mean, the fifth doctor was slightly underrated in my opinion
Balakin
January 30th, 2014 - 11:25pmWell, after Tom Baker anybody would be underrated 🙂

Mumble5557 Online
January 26th, 2014 - 8:40pmDoes Smith’s extend like the original?! Got McGanns today, suprised it actually has the button, looks great.
GallifreyanKnight
January 27th, 2014 - 1:11amNo, it doesn’t extend.
JaffaCakes
January 27th, 2014 - 8:10amMumble5557, I understand the McGann screwdriver doesn’t extend, is that right?
McGann is the Doctor
January 27th, 2014 - 10:04amIn the movie it never extends/retracts
Balakin
January 27th, 2014 - 6:42pmYes it does, at the beginning McCoy pushes it down and it retracts.
the astronaut of death
January 30th, 2014 - 8:15amI’m dreading the laser release they will just put the sounds from the other sonic in and use the same light as others
I Froze Gallifrey
January 26th, 2014 - 4:16pmFor Wave 3 I’d like:
Second Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver
Sixth Doctor’s Sonic Lance
Romana’s Sonic Screwdriver
Amy’s Sonic Probe
Instead of the awful Series 3 which was shown at the 2014 Toy Fair.
the astronaut of death
January 26th, 2014 - 4:27pmI would love a sonic cane
the astronaut of death
January 26th, 2014 - 4:29pmMy wave 3 would be
Second doctor sonic screwdriver
Laser sonic screwdriver ( it is rather hard to find these days)
Destroyed 10th Dr sonic from 11th hour
Amy’s sonic probe
Sonic cane
Anonymous
January 26th, 2014 - 4:30pmYes I would love a destroyed sonic
I Froze Gallifrey
January 26th, 2014 - 4:47pmI don’t see how a Sonic Cane could fit into packaging this size, and knowing health and safety these days, a Destroyed Sonic will probable be a cut hazard.
the astronaut of death
January 26th, 2014 - 4:51pmWell the sonic cane dose not have to be part of the wave
And the destroyed sonic dose not have to be a hassard they just need to add a bit of paint and design that will make it look battered and the shape could easly be made safe
the eternal doctor
January 26th, 2014 - 4:53pmI would like the seventh doctors umbrella
the astronaut of death
January 26th, 2014 - 4:55pmI would like that but not sonic

January 30th, 2014 - 3:25pmWhy does NOBODY want a Colin Baker coat!? 😀
I Froze Gallifrey
January 30th, 2014 - 3:31pmTyke, McGanns Dark Eyes Sonic was made exclusively for Big Finish, so Character Options don’t have the rights to make it.
100000BC, because Colin Baker’s coat wasn’t sonic.
100000BC
January 30th, 2014 - 3:55pmWould have been handy after the loss of the real sonic.
CG
February 5th, 2014 - 12:37pmI wouldn’t mind a 6th doctor coat but the sonics in wave 3 I would like would be:
Sonic Lipstick
Sonic Lance (6th Doctor’s)
Second Doctor’s Sonic
and maybe Romana’s.
@ I Froze Gallifrey: They could make a sonic cane that was retractable (that pushed into itself) so it would fit into normal packaging but I wouldn’t really want a sonic cane anyway.

January 26th, 2014 - 11:30amI have reviews of all of these sonics (well my eleventh review is the original one-which is better) so please subscribe to my youtube for sonic reviews and other doctor who videos. I also do comic, movie and tv show reviews but they will be coming soon.

write on my google plus what reviews you want to see and i will do them no questions asked
GallifreyanKnight
January 27th, 2014 - 1:26amI reckon you should do a review of the Wave 2 release of the 11th Doctor’s sonic, just so people can see for sure what has been removed from it.
I mean, most of us here knows what hhas been changed, but there are also members here that don’t, aswell as people on YouTube.
It would be cool if people had a definitive review, just so they know which version to avoid.
The Monitor
January 26th, 2014 - 8:11amAside from the extremes of semi-bespoke $4000, sonic screwdrivers have ranged, in proper high-street shops from about £1-2 (equivalent value for one that is free with DWA) to £250 for an MFX replica.
A sonic for £10-£11 can only be so good. They look great in their packagaing and that is where mine will stay.
My only concern is one of clarity over the release of a seemingly identical screwdriver in marginally revised packaging that is generic to all four screwdrivers.
CO website comparison suggests a 0.005kg weight difference -pen related?
Joe Roberts
January 23rd, 2014 - 10:58pmWell, that leaves the Second Doctor sonic screwdriver. Does anyone think the Second Doctor sonic screwdriver is more or less likely to be released?
Balakin
January 23rd, 2014 - 11:27pmThat was an Ever Ready pen light, nothing more or less, off the shelf, and that’s it. It is so slim, I don’t think a sound chip would fit into it even if somebody started to make those.
The best option would be if Ever Ready started to reproduce those but I don’t think they care too much about DW or any other merchandise. As for a plastic toy version: it would be a stick with a led, without sound. Not the most attractive toy to sell. But that’s just my opinion.

January 23rd, 2014 - 8:57pmThanks for those reviews. 🙂
It’s really strange that C.O didn’t use the sound chips from Wave 1 for these, as they have Classic era sounds on them.
Guess that is something for the modifiers to sort out then. :p

John Lumic
January 31st, 2014 - 9:10pmJaffaCakes, the ninth doctors sonic on my channel is the one from 2005. I think i said that in the video. If i didn’t i apologise, sorry. And thanks for the nice feedback guys. Please subscribe for more

January 23rd, 2014 - 4:52amDoes anyone know what the packaging differences are between wave 1 10th doctor’s and wave 2’s? Does it say wave 2 on the new one or is it the exact same packaging as wave 1?
Daniel
January 23rd, 2014 - 4:54amalso has anyone from the United States ordered one of them from forbidden planet? How much was the shipping? I’m from california and looking to buying one online. But if it comes to equal around the 29.99 per in the states then I might as well just buy from U.S. sellers.
Balakin
January 23rd, 2014 - 10:12amIsn’t http://www.forbiddenplanet.com a US seller and don’t they ship from the US? There are Forbidden planet’s in the US too, so they must have stock there too where you can order from with a reasonable shipping price.

January 23rd, 2014 - 6:19pmDifference is a yellow square saying wave 2 on the front 🙂

January 23rd, 2014 - 6:48pmthank you so much. I am one of those weird collectors that needs to have all the versions so it’s good to know that there is a difference between the two lol Thanks

January 22nd, 2014 - 8:21pmwith the eighth doctor screwdriver do we consider the bullet or the flat bit the front?
JaffaCakes
January 23rd, 2014 - 4:21pmFlat bit, I’d imagine, like Tom Baker’s
Balakin
January 23rd, 2014 - 4:39pmIn the tv movie it’s out of focus when McCoy uses it but in Night of the Doctor McGann holds the bullet to the dead Cass when he is scanning her.
When the Doctor opens the door earlier, the sonic is out of focus but he puts his thumb on the emitter and I assume he wouldn’t put his thumb on the pointy bullet.
Mattisthedoctor
January 23rd, 2014 - 5:18pmOk because I think the bullet is on the same side as the button for the eighth

January 19th, 2014 - 7:46pmBut I just can’t stop comparing stuff like the 3.75 figures to stuff like the tenth Dr tardis play set of the eleventh Dr figure set and wondering how did we get to all the stuff we have now
booboo
January 19th, 2014 - 7:55pmBig retailers saw it as an old line and stopped ordering in the quantities needed to make it viable
Character had loads planned, a second 11 Doctors set for a start
3.75″ figures are a “toy” line and doing fine for what they are
If retailers don’t order we don’t get it

January 19th, 2014 - 8:22pmHmm I imigane a rather alot of people would have not go it as there has already been one

What are the chances of that booboo?

January 19th, 2014 - 9:26pmYeah it’s all got to pot now, with character’s reputation in tatters, I mean I could go on all day about it but it all started when that 4th doctor with overcoat hat the completely wrong waistcoat and crivat, oh then there’s the 3.75 range, oh god…*hits his forehead with his palm in frustration*…And I really,REALLY,REALLY!!! hope we get a Capaldi!

January 19th, 2014 - 10:55amWhere is the button on the 11ths? Is it on the leather part?
TheRedCreeperTRC
January 19th, 2014 - 11:54amYup the first two are. There are three buttons:
a small button to make the light & sound effects
a big button to extend the head
a big red button on the bottom to make the effects when extended

January 19th, 2014 - 6:44pmAre you talking about the re-release? I thought that one doesn’t extend???

January 19th, 2014 - 7:20amDid the 10th SS get a sound update from the original?
aquestion
January 19th, 2014 - 1:45amconsidering the 11ths screwdriver is cheaper that the non wave 2 issue of it does any one know the difference i’m tempted to buy is all but from photos it looks like it might not extend and might be a tad smaller as well
StetsonDoctor
January 19th, 2014 - 8:22amI think it is the same size but doesn’t extend.
You can still find the 2010 Elevens Sonic quite cheaply Online

January 18th, 2014 - 10:45pmseriously why re do the 10th drs sonic AGAIN they could of released the more creamy ninth dr version instead of the same old terrible 10th dr one. its remarkably inaccurate anyway!!!!

January 18th, 2014 - 5:26pmSorry if this has already been answered, but has the 10th Doctor’s Screwdriver changed actually at all?
StetsonDoctor
January 18th, 2014 - 8:35pmI saw it quickly today, It doesn’t look like anything has changed.
I thought that wave two was originally going to have a ‘Ninth Doctor Sonic’ so maybe they changed it or something?
I don’t know…
Alexanderop
January 18th, 2014 - 9:17pm10th’s Sonic doesn’t have the pen on the bottom, meaning the cap is fixed. I would personally think that an improvement, I lost the cap on my tenth’s ages ago.

January 18th, 2014 - 4:32pmDO NOT BOTHER WITH THE CLASSIC SCREWDRIVERS. I HAVE BOUGHT BOTH. 5TH HAS 11TH SOUND EFFECTS AND THE 8TH IS NOT TELESCOPIC AND HAS THE 11TH DOCTOR SOUND EFFECTS.
DO. NOT. BUY!!!!!
doctorpond393
January 18th, 2014 - 4:42pmYou’re actually surprised about all that? Have you bought classic screwdrivers before? None have had the classic sounds.
Balakin
January 18th, 2014 - 4:47pm8th has the 11th sound effects in the Night of the Doctor and he hasn’t used the telescopic function in that episode, so it is screen accurate enough, from that episodes perspective (the sonic had more screentime in Night of the Doctor than in the tv movie).
But with that intention, nobody should buy either any of the classic sonics aor the War Doctor sonic, because the sounds are wrong in all of them in way or another (all versions contain effects which shouldn’t be there).
Balakin
January 18th, 2014 - 4:49pmdoctorpond393: the latest release of the 3rd and 4th sonics had the classic sounds with the modern sounds too (so 4 effects and they are circulating), But they put the same chip into the War Doctor sonic and the 10th sonic too.
Mattisthedoctor
January 18th, 2014 - 4:57pmnah, still gonna bother
ThePandoricaOpens
January 18th, 2014 - 6:14pmI am aware that previous classic screwdrivers did not have the classic SFX aswell. I bought them in the hope future releases would correct this. My issue is the fact that they have the sound effects on a soundcard for the other Doctor Screwdriver already, and yet they haven’t bothered to insert that card into the new classic releases. It would be a simple enough job, and i wouldn’t mind paying more for it either.
Dalek 95
January 18th, 2014 - 6:57pmThey’re not even out yet it’s on pre order and there was only 1 8th dr sonic for sale on eBay that you probably did not win but even if the classic Sfx have been replaced it doesn’t mean to say the product is bad I collect them for how they look and feel and how they bring out a true collectors inspiration for what they like not about others opinions putting them off the product just think about what I’ve said thank you.
Dalek 95
January 18th, 2014 - 7:00pmSorry they are out. but the eBay one the user who bought it said he was very happy but in my eyes it was a true collectors piece I don’t care about the sounds though but I do see your point but still it doesn’t bother me at all

GallifreyanKnight
January 18th, 2014 - 2:31pmI hope that the following applies to these new toys:
5th Doctor sonic: “Classic” era sound effects.
8th Doctor sonic: “TV Movie” sound effects.
10th Doctor sonic: Blue LED instead of purple UV LED.
11th Doctor sonic: “Red setting”, as seen in “Cold War”. “Blue setting” as seen in “Journey To The Centre Of The TARDIS” and “Closing Time”. Ability to use the button on the handle to activate the effects while the sonic is in it’s extended mode.

January 18th, 2014 - 1:02pmis the fifth doctor’s one pull-down like the fourth’s or a button like the eighth’s?
GallifreyanKnight
January 18th, 2014 - 2:26pmThey’re both going to be “pull-downs”, like the 3rd and 4th Doctors sonics were.

January 18th, 2014 - 2:51pmMultiple people are confirming that the 8th sonic works with a button, so only the 5th is “pull-down”.

January 19th, 2014 - 11:42amIt seems that it depends on where you live. I’ve seen 2 people on this site saying they saw these in the Nottingham Forbidden Planet (but my friend went there yesterday and friday too and haven’t find any(and she’s a whivian too, so she knows what to look for). But today I saw and 8th sonic on ebay (with a real photo, not with promo pic)so somebody was able to buy these, no doubt.
