July 17th, 2014 - 1:15amRecently I’ve wanted to get a classic sonic screwdriver, but I can’t decide. Should I get the wave 1 Fourth Doctor’s sonic, or wave 2 Fifth Doctor’s sonic? I’m a big fan of both, especially season 18 4th Doctor, and I can’t decide.

July 5th, 2014 - 7:04pmHi guys, just picked up the Wave 2 10th Dr Sonic. I had thought for quite some time that the 10th dr had the same Sonic throughout since 9 (so I thought the 10th was just a repackaged version and skipped to 11 (Matt’s) then).
Can someone tell me, as the 10th Dr sonic I own has 4 sound FX. And it’s been said 2 are classic who sounds, what does each sound represent. I get them as props and as such I always note e.g. sound 1=scanning, 2=hacking/lockpicking etc.
What are the 2 classic FX used for?

March 18th, 2014 - 10:42amI REALLY want them to release a 2nd Doctor sonic, a Re release of the Sonic Lipstick, a Sonic Blaster , and the Dark Eyes Sonic. They released an eighth doctor comic figure so I don’t see why they can’t release a big finish sonic.

February 12th, 2014 - 6:51pmCan anyone confirm whether or not there is some kind of indication on the packaging about the sounds?
I just bought what appears to be a Wave 2 10th Doctor Sonic on Amazon (since BBC is sold out). All the reviews agree that it has a blue LED instead of the UV light (and no pen attachment) but the reviews are half and half on the sounds(some say it makes 2 sounds, others say 4).
I’m just wondering if there will be a way for me to tell before tearing the package open in case I need to return it.

February 6th, 2014 - 10:40pmHopefully Character have sorted the faulty sound chip problem considering they’ve used it in this wave
drjakyoung
February 6th, 2014 - 3:07pmWait, how come some versions of the 3rd and 4ths screwdrivers come with 4 sound effects, when others come with 2? I have seen reviews of all the releases of the screwdrivers, and they all have different sound effects.
Balakin
February 6th, 2014 - 5:02pmAt one point they put a different soundchip into all the sonics (including the 10th and War Doctor’s). Donno why. It’s not marked on the packaging or anything, seems totally random.
drjakyoung
February 6th, 2014 - 8:11pmSo it’s rolling a dice on weather you get a certain sound chip or not? 🙁 I really wanted the one that came with 4 sounds but it only came with 2!
drjakyoung
February 6th, 2014 - 2:49pmJust wandering, which 4th dr sonic is rare? The one with the 2 sound effects, or the one with 4?
cool guy doctor
February 6th, 2014 - 1:25pmIt’s going to be the same as the other 11th doctor sonic “not realistic”
Run you clever boy

February 5th, 2014 - 10:11pmHas anybody else notice that the light at the top of 11’s Sonic Screwdriver is missing in this picture?

February 6th, 2014 - 7:22ami think its just the angle of the picture…

February 17th, 2014 - 2:16pmIt’s not missing when you get the toy (for reassurance) it is just the prototype pics 🙂
GallifreyanKnight
February 5th, 2014 - 9:48pmI’ve heard rumors that the Wave 2 release of the 10th Doctor’s sonic, comes with a blue LED instead of a purple UV LED, and that the black cap at the end is permenately glued into place.
Is that true?
anon
February 6th, 2014 - 10:53pmI really hope so
Doctorwhofan561
March 1st, 2014 - 8:56pmit is true but it has the john hurt sound chip so it has the classic noises as well but it never made them sounds in the show

February 5th, 2014 - 4:22pmI know its not on this page but how do you know when a 3rd doctor sonic has classic sounds? I’ve heard that there are some from the re-release that have ‘The Sea Devils’ and ‘Inferno’ sounds.
TheBritishCupOfTea
February 5th, 2014 - 6:33pmThe re-release 3rd Doctor screwdrivers all have classic sounds
ZygonTerror
February 5th, 2014 - 7:01pmOh really, thanks for the information!
The Other Scarman
February 5th, 2014 - 7:27pmYa I thought it was weird they had 10th doctor sonic sounds on the 4th doctor sonic!
GallifreyanKnight
February 5th, 2014 - 9:43pm@TheBritishCupOfTea,
That is technically not true.
I got my 3rd Doctor sonic when Wave 1 first hit the shops, and it only has Tennant-Era sounds.
Balakin
February 6th, 2014 - 12:59pmI think now all the 4th and 3rd sonics should have the classic sounds, the previous releases should be sold out now.
GallifreyanKnight
February 6th, 2014 - 2:41pmBalakin, I wasn’t talking about the versions of the 3rd and 4th Doctor sonics that were exclusive to Forbidden Planet a few years back.
I was talking about the Wave 1 rereleases from last year.
I bought both my 3rd and 4th Doctor sonics when Wave 1 first came out. They only have Tennant-Era sounds.
And I know for a fact that I’m not the only one that had that problem.
ZygonTerror
February 6th, 2014 - 3:47pmJust sharing my experience today. I bought one of the re-releases of the 3rd doctor sonics from wave 1 and it didn’t have classic sounds which was unfortunate but I really like Jon Pertwee and his Doctor so I’ll make do.
Balakin
February 6th, 2014 - 4:59pmGallifreyanKnight: I know, I was talking about the 2013 releases. I bought my 4th sonic in October and it has the classic sounds too but my friend’s 3rd sonic has just the modern sounds and she bought it in august. I thought the first wave of WAVE 1 sould out by september and they made some new ones but with different sound chips, but it seems that it’s not the case judged by ZygonTerror’s comment above me.

February 5th, 2014 - 3:29pmWhat is the difference between these ones and wave 1?
