In space, something can hear you scream. And that something is coming.

On her first adventure in outer space, Ruby learns that the universe is bigger, more colourful, and crazier than she could ever have imagined. She also learns that even the Doctor can feel afraid – and that certain nightmares are all too real…

A new voice to Doctor Who fiction, Alison Rumfitt, presents the Target novelisation of Russell T Davies’ first space adventure for the Fifteenth Doctor and Ruby Sunday, as played by Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson.

Interesting choice of author, given her usual style!

Just looked and yes it may seem strange but there are quite a few authors over the years who have a background in dark horror writing who books. Mark Morris who did the wild blue yonder target is well known as a horror writer. Even more keen on reading this now!

I won’t be buying any of these as I do not collect the Targets but the covers are wonderful. They give strong nostalgic “kids books in the 70s” vibes without just copying Chris Achilleos’ style. They feel like their own thing, which they haven’t before.

The target books and the DVDs are pretty much all I’m interested in now. These have been on order since they were first announced!

Bookcollector – I do actual think the Target books are terrific. But I sold my collection 20+ years ago and I don’t think I could buy the new ones without that impulse pushing me to hit ebay and get all the old ones too!! Can’t afford the space or the money haha. But I don’t blame anyone for getting them, they are terrific.

Love these new covers. Pleased this one is being done as I think it may work better for me as a book. I haven’t rewatched the series yet as I’m waiting for the DVD but this one is one I wasn’t sure of. I think they babies mouths freaked me out! Looking forward to these books.

Not sure if I like the pick, but Space Babies makes sense as it is kinda direct sequel to Church. I also expected them to do the finale as they generally liked doing the “big” episodes, but now I am thinking they probably didn’t want any leaks, so the plot of the finale is very much guarded and the novelisation of that story will come a bit later.

Not if the initials of the author on Amazon, ‘AR’, are meaningful. Maybe they aren’t, though!

suspect DWN 1-3 are new target novels to go with Church

These may be new target books linked to season one. Church is the target paperback so I think these are as well. Was hoping for a target version Fraser Hines evil book as well but they might announce more or more older stories (ie before the new series) books separately to these.

      Hi all.

If these were new series Targets, it would seem odd then for Ruby Road to be an outlier in Jan 2025. While 3 of series 1 get the Target Branding before His opener.

I’m hoping if continuing the new who vibe its about time we had some more 9th Dr ,11th Dr and 13th Dr stories out there. An interesting one would be Power of the Doctor . But any 9th Dr story would be welcome .

Yes I expect Evil of the Daleks Target to be one as a new/Classic

Maybe it’s The new An Unearthly Child by Nigel Robinson

Amazon haven’t altered the old date yet, on the official penguin site its been changed to 8/8/24 same as DWN 1-3

These are definitely new Target books, and the second one is “Rogue” novelisation. Now question if remaining two will also be Ncuti related (just like they released the 60th novels) or will it be something from New Who Doctors.

Didn’t Anthony Reed write a new novelisation of The Horns of Nimon that was planned as an audio only version but got cancelled? Saw “AR” and immediately thought of Nimon.

I think you are thinking of nigel Robinson. As far as I can find there is no mention anywhere of an Anthony read version of nimon.

Sv7 I’m pretty sure all three are going to be season one (14) stories. Fits in with church coming out.
