slitheen-special

All the figurines are carefully produced in 1:21 scale, and cast in a specially formulated metallic resin before being painted by hand and individually numbered.

The specially formulated resin and high quality sculpting allow the figurines to reproduce an incredible level of detail right down to the mesh in the Silurian Warrior’s uniform and the controls on Davros’s console.

Each figurine recreates a specific moment from the TV series in loving detail and every sculpt is based on detailed study of the original production photography, props and drawings.

The collection features several different versions of the Daleks and Cybermen allowing you to trace their evolution over the years.

This is the definitive Doctor Who figurine collection.

Has that been confirmed or are you just guessing it?

It’s almost certainly special 3 (and failing that we can pretty much guarantee it’ll be in number 4) but I have not seen anyone confirming this. If it has then please provide a source because it is not on their facebook page or on the editor’s twitter account.

There’s your answer then. Probably a load of nonsense. Unless you’ve heard it from Neil Corry or Eaglemoss, don’t trust it. Of course, that doesn’t stop it being true, just that this person isn’t actually confirming it, its just speculation.

A better way of saying it is that it is likely to be the Face of Boe, not that the Face of Boe is the next special.

ok here is some really good things they could do for special issues
    Dalek Saucer
    K-1 Robot
    Kroll
    Giant Krynoid
    Drashig
    Cyberking
    Judoon Ship
Also, what a Yeti and an Adult Wirrn be large enough for a special issue? I’ve heard somewhere that a Wirrn has be announced.

      March 29th, 2014 - 5:57pm

Somebody claimed the Wirrn was being considered for issue 24 instead of the Morbius Monster, but as we know now the whole order was shifted and the original poster didn’t source their claim so I wouldn’t believe it.

It could happen but I wouldn’t presume it as a fact.

    • The Werewolf

      March 29th, 2014 - 6:20pm

It can’t because Issue 24 was confirmed by Eaglemoss as the War Doctor

    • The Werewolf

      March 29th, 2014 - 6:20pm

Also yetis are big enough for special as they are similar sixe to slitheen.

    • Anonymous

      March 30th, 2014 - 11:42am

I know it isn’t coming in issue 24, that doesn’t mean however the rumour was true and then changed, it could be the claim was always nonsense and the Wirrn was never planned for that slot and could come later on.

    • KirbyForce1

      April 1st, 2014 - 2:20am

I agree with Robot K1, but none of the others. They’re all meant to be in scale with each other remember.

    • Anonymous

      April 1st, 2014 - 2:10pm

They aren’t all meant to be in scale, the Emperor Dalek is already off.

Some of the specials will be out of scale that’s how it will work, most will be in scale but some of the much larger characters will be reduced (although still be bigger than a conventional figure or special).

I think we can straight away say your list has a big flaw in it and that is the First Doctor.

They are never going to be bringing out three different versions of the “same” character. They ran a Marvel figurine collection, over about 250 figures only two distinct characters were ever given a variant and even then both case had a very definite reason to release it that distinguished it from the original version, so for example if it was the Eleventh Doctor the Ganger Doctor would be possible, but giving him a fez or purple coat would not.

    • The Werewolf

      March 29th, 2014 - 1:19am

But he only said the First Doctor once. He said the First Daleks and Cybermen too. In fact issue 19 is the First Dalek.

Doctor Rules has however forgotten the most important classic figure – The SEA DEVIL!

      March 29th, 2014 - 12:25pm

Oh sorry, I’ve just seen so many of these lists like that the second I see the words “The First Doctor” then see the words “The First…” my mind immediately fills it in. My apologies.

However, the Cyberman they were looking at was The Moonbase, not Tomb of the Cybermen. They are very similar but they are different. The First Doctor is also likely to be so far down the line it is unlikely they know which costume they are going for. They were trying to figure out which costume they would pick for the Fifth Doctor not that long ago.

    • Doctor Rules

Grey Dalek (Genesis of the Daleks)
      Zygon (Terror of the Zygons)
      Sutekh’s Mummy (Pyramids of Mars)
Morbius Monster (The Brain of Morbius)
The Decayed Master (The Deadly Assassin)
Voc Robot (The Robots of Death)
      Scaroth (City of Death)

      Vervoid
      The Seventh Doctor
      Special Weapons Dalek
      Imperial Dalek
      Emperor Dalek/Davros
      The Destroyer
      Ancient Haemovore
      The Eight Doctor

that give us 41 clasic figurines, which is excellent becasue that is half of the colletion! I hope this is true!

      March 29th, 2014 - 2:18pm

You’ve just taken most of this out of the leaflet in the first issue haven’t you? This does not mean the character is getting a figure or even being considered, or ever will.

Again I’ll address you towards their Marvel collection (although this time this one does apply), they had a similar leaflet and many of the characters were never released or considered.

      March 29th, 2014 - 5:56pm

Well the list almost perfectly matches the leaflet. I can only see a couple of exceptions. The thing that really confirms that is the fact the list says that Cyberman is from Tomb and not Moonbase as the leaflet had a picture from Tomb, yet the early draft list had Moonbase listed.

There is no way it is going to be 41 out of the 80 figurines unless things have changed pretty drastically since that early draft and all evidence so far is that just the order has been shifted. If anything I’d expect less of them to be in the set due to new episodes

I was suprised by the ‘nicely’ painted one in smiths ( the other had had someone heavy handed slapping on the reddish brown paint and looked horrible) So I purchased it…. does look rather good despite my dislike. Hope they decide to do a yeti or better yet both varieties of yeti with as much detail…

Not fond of the Slitheen as a monster character on Doctor Who (Far too childish looking with all that silly farting as well) ~ But kudos to the stuntmen & the show for the realisation of the character’s in the episodes.

I actually like this figure: The way it lunge’s forward with the claws splayed out & it’s size is quite impressive…

A technologically advanced speices that hasn’t invented nail clippers…. you have to laugh – the slitheen must be the fattest, wobbliest, ungainliest predatory creature ever to have come out of sci fi….. fortunately when the transformation from ‘rubber suit’ to cgi takes place it can move like a gazelle…and they criticize classic monsters..

Just a slightly off topic. I’ve made a little calculation, it says me that Capaldi goes out in September, twenty-something-th of August for the suscribers. If each issue talks about an episode, and I don’t think they talk about Time, because Capaldi is in Time for 30 seconds, Can we expect a Capaldi’s debut for middle summer?

Look at the list, Capaldi has been pushed back and is not in the first 30 and changed several others. Christopher Eccleston now occupies the spot that Capaldi originally had.

I made the calculation with the Excel list. There said: Eccleston-Issue 22, Capaldi- Issue 27.

      24 War Doctor

      26 Scarecrow
      27 9th Doctor
      28 Morbius Monster

Really hope a classic special is next…. I cant understand why the slitheen has been released as a special they weren’t considerably bigger than humans in the episodes.

I think a War Machine or Arcturus would be ideal as specials.

Personally I regard the Slitheen as one of the worst and most ludicrous monsters to appear in Doctor who and the infantile ‘farting’ comments were feeble too…..

I want K1, it was my first Classic serial and I’d love have a figurine of it, K9, of course, I love it. Alpha Centauri, Eldrad, the Mara, the Atraxi, the Krafayis, the Yeti, a little Adipose, Mr Sin… and I think that I should stop here, or this message is going to have more lines than a dictionary.

They have a questionnaire up on their website listing potential specials (given experience with other magazines they’ve produced the general result of these is to determine the order to release them in rather than whether or not to make them).

If they take it from this list, the possibilities are:

      The Face of Boe
      K-1
Sarah Jane Smith and K-9 (double pack)
      The Beast (reduced scale special)

I’d be more inclined to go with the first two though, and almost certainly the Face of Boe given the heavy modern focus they’ve given the range.

      imagine full size beast figurine

    • Anonymous

      March 27th, 2014 - 4:48pm

Full size? I doubt it would even be possible to make one without a huge team working on it and a very long time scale. Even in this scale it would probably be about six feet tall so reduced scale would be absolutely necessary.
