This is amazing, but the main handle kind of just dulls the effect. I think to really like this you need the personalize set as well.

In that picture of the new screwdriver with the other ‘Build your own Sonic Screwdrivers’, the one on the left has got its two middle sections the wrong way round – the black handle section is above the switch section which does not work!
Just thought I would point that out!!

This is pretty cool on its own. Unfortunately this isn’t really “compatible” with the existing “Built Your Own Sonic Screwdriver” kit as they advertise.

This tip is designed sideways so it doesn’t fit correctly on the other screwdrivers. The second piece (with the button) is slightly smaller than the second piece of all of the other screwdrivers, which means the other tips will not fit on it.

I also wish they didn’t change the design from the prototype. It’s not bad, but because of these design flaws you’re limited to how you can mix them up.

This screwdriver does fit with the other parts why are you even saying it doesnt? I have tried it out with all the parts do i have a different version or something!

Mine, bought early in the toy’s release here in the united states, also suffers from the victorian era collar with the activator button being a nickel’s thickness too short. Being too short, the tip will not fit with any of the other screwdrivers with a core installed in it. With a core on, the tip will not fit fully into the collar to snap in place. I contacted Character Concepts regarding this flaw. They denied such a flaw existed. Which saddened me, as their customer service has been exemplary here in the united states until now.

What happend to the arm-worn TARDIS?! I thought that it would’ve been released by now? Can someone please get me out of the dark on this subject? Much appreciated. 🙂

Still awaiting release. May have been put on the back-burner for awhile?

Don’t really get it as I’m sure it would sell well. I certainly still want one!

    • John Smith

      August 20th, 2012 - 6:57am

I had my suspicions that they were going to give the arm-worn TARDIS the chop and cancel it’s release! That would’ve sucked! 🙁

I HOPE they continue with the Personal TARDIS. I also hope they don’t ruin the design like they did with this Trans-Temporal Sonic Screwdriver. The original design was brilliant. Absolutely perfect. Then they changed it and it looks…. weak.

I might actually make a video review. Mainly because I found some problems with it. It doesn’t fit correctly with the “Build Your Own Sonic Screwdriver” like it claims to be.

Also, in that second picture up there ↑ where it shows examples, the combination on the left is impossible. The configuration of those pieces makes no sense at all.

yes the new sound bit seems to just be too long to fit other emitter heads on

    • Edward WinterRose

      May 27th, 2013 - 4:35pm

The sound emitter isn’t too long. Comparing it to the emitter in the customize set, it’s the same length/ The victorian gold inlaid collar piece is too short by about an American Nickel’s thickness.

    • Edward WinterRose

      October 14th, 2014 - 1:44am

I can confirm the victorian collar is too short.

It’s not from a specific episode. Character Options have designed some ‘cosplay’/toy items (like this) themselves. So they are official merchandise, but you won’t see them in the episodes.
