Clara and the Doctor: Linked through time in the most impossible way!

Clara ‘Oswin’ Oswald: The Impossible Girl. She and the Doctor first met on the Dalek Asylum planet where she claimed to have been fending off Dalek attacks for a year, making soufflés – where did she get the milk and eggs? Oswin agreed to deactivate the forcefield around the planet, but when human the Doctor went to rescue her, he discovered the terrible truth. Oswin wasn’t a girl any longer, but actually an insane Dalek who, unable to cope with her conversion, had retreated into a fantasy world. Oswin fulfilled her promise of helping the Doctor, telling him to “Run. Run, you clever boy, and remember…” They will meet again… and again.

impossible-box_twinfinal580

The Doctor, appalled by his inability to save Amy and Rory from the Weeping Angels, retreated to Earth and hid himself and the TARDIS away from the Universe. Another chance but ill-fated meeting with Clara Oswald in snowy Victorian London pulled him out of his solitude and set him back on a new adventure…. to find the Impossible Girl!

Set details:

Presented here in the Impossible Set, together but apart, are the Eleventh Doctor in his iconic Victorian frock coat from The Snowmen, and Oswin Oswald, the Impossible Girl, in her iconic red dress from Asylum of the Daleks.

imposs5801

The Doctor’s outfit features his top hat and jacket with fur and brocade detailing. Oswin’s outfit is a one piece red dress with her soufflé-making accessory belt.

imposs5802

The set is presented in a unique double sided foil embellished SDCC collector pack with ‘peephole’ Dalek eye window on one side and a Victorian winter vista on the other.

The 11th Doctors head can be swapped with the aged 11th Doctors head from the Time of the Doctor set.

Fascinating. Wonder if the head on the Doctor figure is removable? That way you could combine it with the Time of the Doctor set to make a screen-accurate elderly 11th Doctor. = )

Whoops – that was meant to be a new comment rather than a reply to this specific one. Apologies – I know what I was saying didn’t have much to do with your post!

The Eleventh Doctor Figure from The Snowmen also looks Great though, wondering if we will see a Time of The Doctor Version of this Figure, unless they have included an Alternate Waistcoat and Bow Tie Piece as an Easter Egg?! Not an actual one! LOL! If not, I spy with My little Eye that we could be seeing a Twin Pack of that and a Nightmare in Silver Cyberman in the Future?

Also, because this Figure previously only existed as an Unarticulated Prototype if Character and Underground Toys have paid to have The Second Doctor in Fur Coat Figure Articulated so that it could be Released as a Figure? I don’t want to get people’s hopes up though. There are so many possibilities of Variants for Clara now that they have Released an Oswin Figure of her, a Name of The Doctor, Bells of Saint John and Hide Variants of her to name a few.

would surprise me at all if the see fur coated troughton and a yeti now

expected the unexpected i think from now on

    • WouldYouLikeAJellyBaby

      July 30th, 2014 - 7:31pm

Agreed, otherwise if Character and Underground Toys didn’t see the 5 Inch Figures still making Money they wouldn’t have made more.

      July 30th, 2014 - 7:32pm

They did say a yeti would cost to much money to make

As it is just big chunks as plastic

      July 30th, 2014 - 7:35pm

Yes, but they said the same thing about a Victorian 11th Doctor and look at what We’ve got? I think we should all by now that nothing is what it seems with Character and the supposed “Dead 5 Inch Line.”

For everyone who dose not like the fact that in the TOTD figure the aged 11th Dr head dose not suit the body We can now just put that head on this body

It is dose not matter about some bowtie

And the head on 11 may not be removable in this set…

    • the astronaut of death

      July 30th, 2014 - 7:15pm

Yeah but that’s how custom figures are made most of the time there is a way to remove the head even if its not made that way

So I imagine we can still do it

To be honest I’m not happy with either of them. They look like bid bang pow figures (well the 11th doctor does anyway) and when it comes to display you can’t display the TOTD episode or DOTD episode because of the clara variant and the head of the 11th doctor I can’t say anything, I don’t know what to say. If anything I’m disappointed at most. And finally £30, £30. First they give us the TOTD set which honestly is better than this and it’s £30 so that £60 if you buy both. Im really happy with getting the odd 5 inch figure but this is just rushe

I’ve still got Asylum Dalek, Genesis Dalek and Tenth Doctor from 3.75″ Wave 3A to catch up on, plus the Dalek Ship, not to mention the upcoming Time of the Doctor and Asylum of the Dalek sets…I’m gonna have a LOT of money to save!! 😆

This really feels random on Character Options’ part. Ah well, can’t really complain too much, everyone finally get’s a 5″ Clara, and a new variant of 11. Now maybe we can get a jacketless 11th from Journey to the Center of the TARDIS and I think everyone will have their fill of 11th variants.

      July 30th, 2014 - 7:17pm

Well that too, but they had the opportunity to do that quite easily during the Series 6 run of figures, All they had to do was make a new jacket for the Stetson 11th Doctor. Not too hard.

Given that there is also the Time of the Doctor set, I may pass on this if there is a normal Clara figure released. Two fairly obscure costumes in one set or two more recognisable costumes in separate sets – I’d rather have companion Clara than an alternate Clara (if you know what I mean) and I’d rather have 11 in a version of his regular 7b costume than a [fairly similar-ish] costume only worn in two stories and my money (particularly after recently buying 4 classic figures and a DVD box set) doesn’t stretch as far as buying every figure…
