Doctor Who The Fourth Doctor Anthology Paperback

Available to order from www.forbiddenplanet.com and www.amazon.co.uk

When Doctor Who Weekly launched in 1979, it was the inimitable Tom Baker incarnation of the immortal Timelord who graced its very first comic stories.

Now, Panini Comics is proud to present the complete collection of Fourth Doctor comic strips, taken from the early years of Doctor Who Weekly and Doctor Who Monthly! Featuring 16 wild and witty tales, this collection sees the Doctor encounter robotic centurions, deceptively furry and cuddly space tyrants, deadly psychic vampires and a whole lot more!

So do we know if this is a one off or if they’ll be doing collections of all the Doctor’s comics soon?

So does this have anything new that wasn’t in the Fourth Doctor volumes Panini’s already released? It doesn’t seem to, but maybe I’m missing something.

Does anyone know why they always miss out Timeslip? They put it in the 5th Doctor anthology collection last time, and now it appears to be the 17th missing story this time around.

James, are you sure it’s missing from this collection? That’s strange. Can’t think why it would be. It was a different artist, wasn’t it? Got a feeling it was Paul Neary. Could be wrong. Rights issue? But then it has been reprinted before, as you say.

Let us know if you find out anything.

      GREAT NEWS!!

Timeslip IS included in the new Anthology! Just heard it from DWM HQ. So unless another has been dropped that should be the complete original 17 story run. Don’t quote me on that just yet though.

Happy times and places, indeed. 🙂

Love the prominent placement of Beep the Meep on the cover.
Obvious why, particularly with the timing of the release, but I like seeing that kind of thing.

To be fair, it’s an anthology of the original run and deliberately so. I’m more than happy with that.

Phil, I’ve been thinking the same. If DW fans can’t get those strips reprinted, rights issues or not, then no-one can! They deserve an outing after all this time.

As for the DWM TB strips, I’ve been praying for those for years now. The out of print original graphic novels are extortionate.

Can we all let DWM know we want the back up strips out?

Hooray for whoever got this moving. Just hope they’re B&W originals. The IDW colour collection was shocking.

Is this going to be in color, b&w, or a combination?

Am wondering if the Iron Legion is the one piece of content I have purchased the most times.

One volume would be nice though…

I hope they re-release the Seventh Doctor and Eighth Doctor comics, I wasn’t able to get A Cold Day In Hell or Endgame.

Would be so great if they could release the Alan Moore back up strips for the 60th

Would love that but I get the feeling they are going to slot them into reprints of material we’ve already bought. Like the two dalek books each having one uncollected story in.

I just think if I keep mentioning the back-up strips at any available opportunity then maybe they will be published or adapted into one of the Bad Wolf spinoffs. Its classic Who-fan cause and effect thinking – wish for it enough and it surely must happen! The evidence that Alan Moore would agree to publishing is at best tentative. He appears to be selling his insights on writing via the BBC Maestro platforms, something that feels like he is open to earning opportunities. However, he is more emphatic than ever about disowning comic books. Understandable, and very liberating creatively for him, but sad for the rest of us…

Phil: One of his strips is in the upcoming Cyberman collection, so it looks like he’s relaxed his stance. I’m assuming it’s because DWM is all Panini now rather than Marvel UK, who he had the issue with originally.

Could this be why we haven’t got that 2nd 13th Doctor graphic novel? Maybe the plan is to re release all the stories in these anthologies ending with a full 13th Doctor one.

So this isn’t a complete collection then? I thought there were more than 16 4th dr stories?

There are 17 stories in the original comic and monthly magazine run not 16. Then there are three stories from the 1990’s as well. Oh well, saves me money I suppose

I wonder if one has been missed off or if its just an error in the listing. Won’t be the first time an initial listing has had inaccuracies.

24/25 if you include the yearbook comics

This anthology set should have been hardcover editions
