The picture shows the DVDs in a box set but i’m also seeing the DVDs in a normal DVD case. is this right or are they copies?

I’m also wondering if I bought a fake. The one I bought was very cheap (£7+shipping) although it was new and still sealed. The case has a 5051561042966 bar code. The keep case has to be sled out to the top or bottom of the surrounding cardboard hull. There is no lenticular picture. The keep case is the milky kind of transparent plastic. The back of the inlay is white. Apart from the four cards shown above, there are two leaflets – one listing the contents of the DVDs and one promoting BBC calendars and diaries. The folded paper with five pictures shown above is nowhere to be found.

The sentence that greets you after inserting the DVD is the same that was used in the series 10 dvd box set, except for the word “ten”, which has been replaced by someone else’s voice saying “eleven”. Other than that the DVD menu looks genuine.

Can someone point me to where I can get the DVDs in plastic cases rather than the cardboard boxed set?

I’m not a huge fan of series 11, but I still bought the DVD to continue my collection. Plus whilst I don’t consider any of the stories in series 11 to be 10/10 classics, I did enjoy ‘The Ghost Monument’ , ‘Rosa’ and ‘Kerblam!’, So I wouldn’t mind watching them again.

Got mine this morning. Nice looking set. It’s not the best series but it’s not the worst. Plus it might be one of those things that’s better after a second viewing.

With my usual great judgement, I pre-ordered this from HMV and paid immediately via PayPal which meant I couldn’t cancel. Anyone else in this position? They’re still trading as far as I know. But I haven’t had any email saying it was being sent out yet.

They won’t be sending anything out at present as they aren’t getting in stock to send away. Hmv have until the end of Tuesday to find a buyer (it looks doubtful tbh). You should be able to file a claim with PayPal though I’m not quite sure how you do that.

Just want to update my personal DVD guide and go to print now, rather than wait for Jan 14th…

Turns out there is a good reason the special isn’t on the series release. It’s not part of series 11. Chibnall said no old monster in series 11 and there weren’t. The special however has confirmed the presence of an old monster. It’s a separate story from the series so it’s not on the box set. It really doesn’t matter that much. There are far more important things in the world to be concerned about! I’m so looking forward to getting these two releases, there series and the special. Great stuff.

Behind the scenes featurettes (like what?)

Closer looks(so those 4 minute clips on YouTube)

Four brand new audio commentaries(Why the HELL is it 4? Not even half the series & I bet we won’t have the four leads on one)

Selection of art cards exclusive to the release(that’s a nice excuse but I’d rather more behind the scenes stuff)

DVD/BD cover is presented in an exciting lenticular format. (Wow how dull)

    Not worth whatever the price

Well it’s only very few because the RTD era is only on 4 Series and the Specials, which had a commentary for every episode.

It’s something that always disappointed me about the Moffat era releases.

I’m in two minds right now. I have had the steelbook on order for a while, but now i feel i want this version, what with it being lenticular, and nice foldout case and more artwork. I suppose i was hoping for painted artwork peices for the steelbook. Ahhhh i don’t know what to do!!!

Well, usually we have the christmas special with the next series.
It’s a bit ridiculous that we have to buy it apart.
In 2009 we haven’t just one special so it didn’t surprise me to have a separate release.

      December 15th, 2018 - 12:31am

Not with different Doctors or when the show has a total revamp. Twice Upon a Time truly belongs with Series 10 than Series 11.

    • Nicholas Payne

      January 11th, 2019 - 9:40pm

It’s not. It’s only Series 11 (“The Woman Who Fell To Earth” to “The Battle Of Ranskoor Av Kolos”), with “Resolutions”, like “Twice Upon A Time”, is getting it’s own release (I don’t know why they wern’t included in the Series 10 and 11 sets respectivly)

No new year special! Bit annoying but at least it will be out separately. As this is 14th January the new year story will presumably be late January or early February.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Stop releasing the Box Sets without the Special! I understand the BBC want to maximise profits and release the Special separately. They could have easily released the Special in January and then followed up in March with the Full Box Set. I’m getting a bit ticked off having a shelf full of Box Sets, followed by a Single DVD that just waste’s space.

I hope so, rather than wait itnto be included on the series 12 box set which probably won’t be out until late 2020. But the minutes listed only seem to make up the 9x50min episodes and 1×65 min opener of the series.

It’s a small thing, but I love they’ve used the shot of Jodie as the Doctor as the top of the spine, as opposed to something like that circular ‘Who’ logo. It looks really cool and I hope it makes it onto the final version. I’m imagining the cover will be different, perhaps a future promo image with the companions as well?

Uk airdate August bank holiday weekend or there abouts

But as there are only 10 episodes they may split the series again I guess.

As actors these days dont like do to much. Hartnel would have just laught at how little time they spend making the show these days.

We know that it will be airing in October because that is what they announced at the WW showcase some months back. As they were selling it to broadcasters from around the world I very much doubt that they would change this date now.

    • TigerMan1995

October meant shipping the series to other broadcasters not the BBC’s airdate for BBC One, BBC America, BBC Canada, and ABC.

I genuinely think a lot of DW fans and collectors won’t feel a need to see the episodes before knowing whether they want to add this to their collection or not. [That’s pretty true for a lot of SF/fantasy ‘Franchise’ fanbases, I imagine]. That might sound daft but for some, this will be about adding to a collection as much as buying the ability it gives you to watch the episodes themselves. You can usually pre-order the steelbook formats of the new Star Wars movies the very week they hit the cinemas nowadays (I certainly was able to order Solo steelbook blu-ray before it opened!)

    • Leon Kerr

      June 20th, 2018 - 12:16am

Then wait – but loads of tv shows and movies go up for pre order early. Including previous DW sets.
