Just recieved mine, the hinges with the cases are broken on about 75% of the cases, which is poor for a product costing this much. Spoke to BBC shop who said send it back but I would have to pay postage and then reclaim it via receipt….very very very poor service, and has really dampened the excitement I had when look forward to this set 🙁

Received box set yesterday – delight at early delivery soon faded as found top of box was ripped plus one of the disc boxes was also damaged. Pre ordered via BBC Shop, no bonus disc plus they will not replace until damaged item received back even though they have my credit card details as security should item not be received back. So no birthday present for my son!

    NOT HAPPY

Hi, whats the quality of the first 4 seasons like. Reading alot about slowdown because of the compression caused by upscaling? The disc mix-up sounds like it was only meant for US, so be interesting to hear what the BBC say. Ordered mine ages ago but not been emailed to say it has been released yet, although showing it has under my account. I really hope this set is not a turkey 🙁

Update from BBC re missing bonus disc on complete 1-7 box set (They have removed details of the extra disc now)

You had a reply booboo ?

      Dear Paul,

I apologize for any confusion caused by the wording on our website. We are currently looking into the problem and can assure you we will have a resolution to it ASAP. As for the Bonus Disc, the material is actually found across the discs in the Complete Specials box please refer to the insert to find the location of each of the special features.
      We apologize for any inconvenience

Hmm – I spoke to Ben on Saturday and on the phone he said he would be checking the discs themselves as he suspected they were included spread over the set (specifically the Tennant Specials set) – a few hours later he emailed to say he hadn’t found them. My set just turned up so I will be checking later – but the thing above about checking the insert for listed extras and what discs they’re on is baloney – the ‘Complete Specials’ set insert lists exactly the same extras from the regular set.

I notice the BBC Shop website has now removed the bit about the exclusive disc from the listing too! Have sent them another email to see what they say. I’ll be returning the set if the content is not there and am seriously considering importing the US set instead.

A few early reports regarding the UK set by several posters on the Blu-Ray.com forums are saying there’s no bonus disc, unlike it was advertised (including on the BBC’s store), and unlike the US set.

    Can anyone confirm this?
Very poor showing, if this is true.

      @Jaketorwho Thanks.

Unbelievable. I don’t understand why the US releases of BBC products are given the red carpet treatment, and their home country releases are treated as an afterthought.
      Don’t they want our money?

From HD series that get DVD-only releases in the UK, but get BD releases in the US, to the recent trend of Doctor Who releases missing of features from the US counterparts, this is getting absolutely disgusting. They even advertised this on the BBC shop, and the press release! How could they remove these from the UK set?

No bonus disc here. Makes the whole set kinda pointless…. and naughty bbc for heavily advertising it. I got rid of single disc “A CHRISTMAS CAROL” cos of proms 2010

I like the covers for series 3 and 4 but not for 1 and 2. Also I think they should have kept the original 2005-2010 logo instead of the classic logo.

At first I was excited because I saw that this version did not contain the universal remote that the North American box set contains, so I assumed that would mean this was much, MUCH cheaper.

But it’s actually slightly more expensive…

    idk…

Excellent, was waiting to see how these would be presented etc. Great to see they are all in these cases with great artwork, rather than cheap card cases that don’t last 5 minutes. Ordered mine via BBC shop with 10% off so about £150, or £21.50 a season (for all 7, and to pre-order season 7 alone is about £35. Although people are saying this is overpriced, I think its pretty good value, although if you own the previous blu ray releases maybe not so
