today on ebay i found a usa seller selling all five figures brand new in box separate from the discs my birthday is coming up early next month so gave in and bought it. cost me £47.62. on the main listing page it says no custom fees yet the next page warns me they may be custom fees so if i’ll end up paying more later is questionable.

Ebay UK add on the fees, so you’ve already paid them. The UK VAT collection model for marketplaces is pretty much the same as the EU one.

That is way to expensive nearly £300 it would take me a year to save up for it, plus reading the reviews on Amazon, are not great, but than again it’s not made in the U.K. Even if the UK. decided to bring this out it would probably be double the price especially if they only made so many limited edition. But a think they would take care of the packaging to be sure it would not have any bad faults or bad reviews. Also they know collectors like myself, like to display their collection in order so I think they would make the cases individually like they have already done with the Series 1 – 4 box sets. But how many times is the BBC going to release these are fans going to buy what they already own for a few extras not included on the previous releases, that’s the BBC double dipping been going on since the VHS, and DVD releases. And they know as soon as they announce its limited edition very few thousand made fans will want it no matter what.

blu ray has no region lock (even if it states otherwise, they can be played anywhere)

Beef that’s not true. 4K Blu-Ray should always be Region Free except for a couple rare ones where the studio “accidentally” locks them

sorry to say bluray does have region locks

Dave and beef thanks but I don’t know which one of you is right. Have any of you tried the discs?

According to the packaging they’re region 1 anamorphic ntsc dvds… RIP quality control. For what it’s worth, I’ve seen posts elsewhere about people setting their players to region A for at least some of the discs.

Rex F thank you for that. I have since heard that for some reason series 9 is region locked but most discs aren’t. Not sure why. I have an LGBP250 player. According to Google search it’s region free. It says that when I google search it but I can’t imagine such a low end player being region free without modification.

Just seen a review on Facebook and it’s pretty disappointing, flimsy outer case, dvd cases not blu ray and no information as to what is on each disc decided to cancel mine

Had briefly ordered it, it after seeing a YouTube video unboxing I cancelled mine. Looks cheaply made, and the disc art is boring.

Yes me too. Main reason for wanting it was for the Titan figures but for that price I’d expect a better quality product.

Yes, I’ve just seen the you tube video and the set looks awful with loose discs and the Jodie Whittaker set was broken. I think a lot of these will be returned to the supplier. It’s like the manufacturer could not be bothered to make something good because they knew the fans would buy it any way. Even if they had put each season in a separate case and put some better artwork on the discs it would have been an improvement and not too much effort needed to do it. Such a shame it could have been great but just looks like they’re milking the cash cow again

Yeah, if the set had been better made, I would have gotten it, well better made and still at a decent price anyway.

Not interested in this as I already have the steelbook éditions. Artworks are great though. I’ll probably buy standard editions of S01 through S04 to replace the steelbook discs IF the new remastered version is good.

I purchased a copy of this from Amazon.com and I live in the U.K. so it is possible to get this if you live outside the USA. Keep looking on the site as they are putting up copies every so often

I can’t remember where, but I swear I’ve seen a picture of this set but with the current 60th anniversary horizontal logo on it instead.

You kinda have, there is a Blu-ray version of Series 1-4 and Specials being released in the U.K. but with the newer logo. Kinda hoping they release them all here in U.S.A. as single boxsets too (1-4 and Specials / Series 5-7 and specials / Series 8-10 and Specials / Series 11-13 and Specials) with the same artwork. Seems like a win if they’re only doing 6000 complete boxsets in the U.S. Especially considering the complete Doctor Blu-ray sets here cost an arm and a leg. They already sell DVD sets here for the individual Doctor’s with wrap around continuous covers… these would be even better!

I don’t think I mind missing out on this. “complete” sets are outdated as soon as the next episode is out.
I suppose this would be useful for someone who hasn’t already got these on DVD/Blu Ray.
The set does look nice so I imagine it will be enjoyed by whoever buys one.

This is still the complete new who boxset even after the new episodes. The new episodes are considered a new show. BBC iplayer lists it as Doctor Who (2005-2022) and Doctor Who (2023-). The new season is being called season one, so this is technically a complete boxset.

“[O]nly 6,000 available… this Blu-ray set is an essential for any Doctor Who fan”. Eh? There are only 6,000 fans now? Or do I misunderstand the meaning of the word “essential”?

With the artwork on this (9+10) being virtually the same as the UK release of S1-S4 – do we think the UK will get a separate release of 5-13?

Just my opinion, of course, but…

I don’t think anyone from the UK gets to complain about non-access to stuff in their country. Compare stuff the UK has gotten that has never had a release in North America to stuff that is exclusive to North America. And I’m including content like Tales of the TARDIS, the 60th anniversary concert, etc. Then there’s the wait times. We still have to wait over 4 months for the Season 20 blu ray.

the only complaint I have ever had is that I wish for the New Series, we had anything as Comprehensive as “The Complete (Name of Actor Here) Years” Boxsets in UK Form… they only made David Tennant’s Complete DVD Set Exclusive to BBC Shop in the Early 2010’s… but having looked at how US Fans have been treated (ie. The Collection Releases not including the Booklets from the UK/Australian Release, and an Extra Missing from the First Tom Baker Set due to clearance issues

Yes we do, there’s plenty of material/merchandise produced in conjunction with US – originated franchises that we either never get to see or have to pay an extortionate markup and/or import fees to get hold of. I see very little sympathy or solidarity from US fans of those franchises in those circumstances; indeed the prevalent attitude tends to be, “Huh, it’s OUR show, why should foreigners get a tailored/exclusive release?”

Doctor Who is a franchise produced by a broadcaster funded mainly by the British licence – fee paying public, and funded SOLELY by said public for most of its existence. We ABSOLUTELY should get priority/preferential treatment; that’s LITERAL, legitimate entitlement according to the rules of reciprocity.
