Peter Purves had Toby Hadoke on his podcast:

“You mentioned the myth makers in all that. We did a follow up with Maureen O’Brien, and you and Chris Chapman made it. We had a wonderful time when we had the entire British Museum to ourselves for several hours in the evening, which was well an absolute treat as well as being a very nice piece of work.

Yeah. I don’t know if we’re allowed to talk about that, because we’ve banked this documentary for a future release, but it’s not been scheduled yet. So I don’t know if that’s a secret or not.”

      Oh dear lol

      Francis White said the same

Toby’s comment of it not currently being on the schedule does suggest it’s a bit off even if there is a claim by someone over at roobarbs forum saying it’s currently being worked on. With some of the ages involved I wouldn’t be surprised if there is plenty of other things banked or in the process of being banked plus with the filming at the British museum that would be a lot of planning scheduling and clearance required. I imagine we will see the documentary by 2030 on season 3 at the latest even if there isn’t an animation planned for it.

Not sure what roobarbs is, but I maintain what I said on this forum in the summer regarding what Francis White let slip. Certainly lots to look out for in 2026 and beyond..!

As Gordon says, just because things have been filmed does not guarantee specific stories are coming in 2026.

Wow ! Thats a lot of information. Aren’t we lucky to have people like Richard to put all this together!? It’s building up to be one of the blu rays definitive collections. My only gripe with the fifth doctors run is that there isn’t more :(. I would love a couple more seasons but hey ho. The thought of a run of stories with just Five + Nyssa has always felt like a missed opportunity to me. Shame.

Just glad Janet stayed as long as she did.

I’m the exact opposite I wish Janet had left and Sarah had stayed. Nothing against the actresses but I just preferred nyssa over Tegan’s whinging!

Confirmed that the new Cbeebies spinoff animation will start production next year. Consisting of 52 episodes of 11 minute each (9.5 hours).

Obviously aimed at younger audience. Shame they can’t put the money towards the recreation of the lost episodes first.
Half of their productions would be the equivalent to DMP, (5 hours) or a third would be the same as Marco Polo (3 hours)..

Hopefully the new collections obtained by FilmIsFabulous contain some Who episodes.

What’s the possibility of a continuation of Destination Dalek? Love to see more adventures with 5. Even if did a full story in 10/15 minute segments.

These are totally different audiences working off of totally different budgets. The BBC don’t have some sort of “Doctor Who budget” they pay for things out of, this is being paid for by Cbeebies for Cbeebies.

    • Gordon

      December 17th, 2025 - 5:36pm

Completely different funding model and budget. Completely different producers. This is happening alongside the bbc studio produced missing episode dvd/blu ray animations. One isn’t effecting the other and vice versa.

    • Missyrules

      December 17th, 2025 - 6:18pm

I’d say pretty much zero chance of a continuation. Unless it’s a book or a big finish CD they won’t be making it. Far to expensive.

    • Gordon

      December 17th, 2025 - 7:58pm

I don’t even know how it could continue in a visual form. There is no more Davison sets due. Plus I doubt for various reasons there will be another season or even a 1 off of 5 and Tegan will happen. Plus where would it go on the releases? It’s obviously too late for any Davison releases and doesn’t really go elsewhere either.

Based upon the 2 documentaries on season 20 I’d quite like a Peter, Janet and Sarah travel and food comedy programme. They could even have some who folk as guests in some episodes. Doesn’t have to be in Europe. Places in uk.

      December 17th, 2025 - 8:35pm

I watched a good travel one Peter did with Christopher Timothy (they were both in the original all creatures great and small TV series) so I think Peter, Janet and Sarah on a TV travel series around the UK would be great Gordon

I assume they will offer a black and white option as well. Like the official animations they may be waiting till it’s complete to properly grade a black and white version.

Just seen. They wont start cataloguing until the new year and some of those cans do look corroded. I just hope what Doctor Who there is, are in good enough condition.

    • Scotel

      December 17th, 2025 - 3:11pm

Between the three collections there’s over 2000 films. For some context: during their pilot program they were able to process 500 films per month. Things will have improved since then and they have brought in a new archivist who is being trained under Sue Malden.

All this is to say, we’re still a few months off, but things are moving in the right direction.

    • Gordon

      December 17th, 2025 - 5:30pm

I would love to see the 35 mm red dwarf model filming footage that they uncovered for season 6. Doug naylor said on the season 10 making of that when he asked for any film he was told it was all lost. Shame it probably won’t get a release. They just released a complete blu ray box set so another release at this time is pretty unlikely.

    • Duncan

      December 17th, 2025 - 6:04pm

I keep “forgetting “ that there may be some kind of news at some point. Not sure what to think, really. Some sources say just one episode has been found; others say more ! I guess time will tell.

If there are finds, I do hope they represent those “mysterious “ stories like Myth Makers, Massacre, Smugglers. Just a taste of what those stories were about would be fantastic.
      Here’s hoping, everyone.

And happy Christmas and best for 2026. Wouldn’t it be great to get some old Who and some new Who, as well ? I’d be happy with an animated Wheel.

    • Scotel

      December 17th, 2025 - 6:17pm

The collection that is in the process of being recovered has one known Doctor Who episode in it. The full contents of the collection aren’t known and won’t be until it can be fully catalogued so it’s possible there could be more but as things stand it’s one episode.

There are other collections they are aware of that contain Doctor Who material which is why you’ll be hearing mixed information. For now there is one missing episode in the process of being recovered.

      December 17th, 2025 - 8:37pm

Looks great based upon the clip used. More complex and looks a step up over wheel. Looking forward to whenever it’s finished. Mind you I’m still waiting for web 3 but I gather they paused that to go on to this but I’m no rush for it. With official and fan animations I’m sure we will get a full run eventually

Hi Gordon, after season 21, it will probably be either season 11 or 16, do you think after those 2 seasons, they will start with some of the 60s in 2027? Thanks

    • Scotel

      December 11th, 2025 - 11:40pm

There’s really not much choice in the matter. Carrying on as they are it will be 2027 or if the decide to do the Wilderness set that would knock the first 60s set back to 2028. Either way they are coming soon.

    • Tom Williams

      December 12th, 2025 - 1:08am

I think as gordan did comment that wilderness wouldn’t need a lot off work on it tbh but i think as he said if it wasn’t the case and a 60s came along we could see if it was animated wheel a season 5 one as I saw on I player was reconstructed version off episodes apart from 2 off them it would be amazing I admit too see that but wilderness wouldn’t make sense before 2028

    • Tom Williams

      December 12th, 2025 - 1:08am

      Would make sense auto correct

    • Gordon

      December 12th, 2025 - 9:35am

They got 4 options after the 2 remaining colour seasons get released. Assuming it’s correct for the next 2 colour seasons (I’m not completely ruling out a troughton surprise in autumn 2026)

1, carry on into the 60s. Think it’s the most likely. By the end of 2026 the next 2 collection sets should have been delivered and anounced. Hopefully we will all have 1 or 2 animations that may give us at least 1 “complete” 60s season to give them direction to where to work on next.

      2. Do a wilderness years set to give the animations more time. It’s possible but its a toss up whether they would do it then or at the end. Plus it’s unlikely to save an enormous amount of time due to the small amount of restoration work that era will need.
Most of that era is on 1” tape
      3. Go on to the new who era to give the animations more time. Think it’s unlikely as they just rereleased the first rtd era in 2023.

      4. Move on to something else or take a break to give animations more time. I think it’s unlikely

    • Duncan

      December 16th, 2025 - 3:14pm

Couldn’t we have more releases specifically featuring Peter, Janet and Sarah having fun and adventures ??? These features are some of my favourites. It’s good to actually be able to get a TARDIS team together. Thinking about the actors and characters that have sadly left us, but would have been great if they’d teamed up and had similar fun. Patrick, Frazer and Wendy. Jon and Katy and Roger. Tom, and Liz and Ian. 🙁
      If only …

Anyway, whoever came up with the fifth doctor and friends concept … well done ! Delightful.

    • Prof Horner

      December 16th, 2025 - 3:32pm

You may know Sarah Sutton is my favorite Doctor Who girl. I do think they missed a trick not having The fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Tegan traveling together on screen longer. Peter, Sarah and Janet are great fun together on the little journeys they go on these Blu ray boxsets.

    • Duncan

      December 17th, 2025 - 6:07pm

@Prof Horner – I love Nyssa/Sarah too. An underrated companion and a lovely person to boot. The fifth Doctor team on Behind The Sofa are great entertainment. I could listen to them for hours. I’m very fond of Janet but my soft spot is Sarah, who oozes charm and niceness. Really looking forward to their boating adventures:) and the Escape Room too. Janet is going to be hilarious in that.

So with this set featuring both Tales of the Tardis Earthshock and The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot I wonder what other new who material could be included?
This is what I think could be included

An Adventures in Space and Time (possibly both versions but if only one I would prefer the Gatwa version)

Twice Upon a Time, probably the least likely but still possible

Night of the Doctor will almost certainly be on the Wilderness Years set

Remaining 5 Tales of the Tardis eps altho Vengeance on Varos is gonna be awkward to find a home for

Surlely Adventure in Space and Time would be on the S1 box set. Being it’s the origin of the show.

Twice Upon a Time would be on s4 box set. Being it’s the first regeneration and links tenth planet with power of the Daleks.

Night of the Doctor agreed be on Wilderness set.

Could see Time Crash minisode being on s21 set.

Be good if they did a box set for Tales of the Tardis stories. Obviously Mind Robber would go on s5.

    • Whofan44

      December 11th, 2025 - 9:42pm

Well Time Crash was already on the s19 set. I to would like a box set of Tales of the Tardis but I think its unlikely now.

    • Gordon

      December 12th, 2025 - 10:22am

Adventure in space in time could fit in either season 1 or season 4 and twice upon a time could appear in season 4.

The night of the doctor appeared on the 2016 tv movie blu ray release so it’s pretty much a given for a mcgann era wilderness years set.

I can see the likes of vengeance on varos and curse of fenric tales of the tardis appearing on the wilderness years Set. They are both chronically set after their tardis times. Mind robber is probably season 6. Time meddler could go on the savages or the bonus disc of season 3 (if there is one) as the bookends are chronically set after savages. The three doctors one could go on either season 11 or wilderness years. There isn’t really an obvious place as Jo doesn’t appear in season 11 and didn’t really do much in wilderness years either and Clyde isnt a classic who character either.

There is also the new sea devils 90 min release. It’s due to go on the war release but depending on how quickly season 11 is out(might be seen as as too new to be included elsewhere) it may get held back for the wilderness years.

    • Whofan44

      December 12th, 2025 - 10:29am

I would not be surprised if the new Sea Devils update does not end up in the collection sets. I am also assuming the colourisations will be included as well. I had initially been against that due to future colourisations not being included as they missed the set release but given it does not currently seem like we are getting another I am fine if they include them.

    • Prof Horner

      December 12th, 2025 - 11:50am

If they push the boat for the last Pertwee season as have the last Davison, we could have at least a 8 disc boxset for season 11. That would leave room for the new Sea Devils and tales of the Tardis Three Doctors. Of course a lot of the budget will go on Invasion of the Dinosaurs , both restoring episode 1 to colour and hopefully new Dinosaurs . I wonder if we may get a 90 minute version of Dinosaurs along with the Planet of the Spiders one. would love a Troughton release next autumn.

    • Gordon

      December 12th, 2025 - 1:13pm

I would say monster of peladon needs a cut down omnibus more than dinos. Also I’d like to add a recut of death to the daleks so at least the cliffhangers make sense

    • DPHill

      December 12th, 2025 - 4:12pm

I think season 1 for AAISAT as s4 will be packed with discs and probably bot much wiggle room, its obviously got stuff across hartnells whole era but tells the story of the shows creation and could fit s1 very well

Agreed night of the doctor is definitely going on a wilderness years set if and when

Also i really do think your placement of Tales 1,6&7 are good places to out them, if ever they do new who, they could simply feature the new scenes from tales instead of the whole thing on a sixtieth boxset

As for 2, an S6 bonus disc, mind robber itself or even wilderness as well

For tales 3 seen as clyde is in it, it could go on an SJA boxset if ever they did that, pipe dream in a way though

I think youre both right Prof and Gordon about s11

    • Rob

      December 12th, 2025 - 9:23pm

      1) Twice Upon a Time isn’t a Hartnell story. Adventures in Time and Space is a doco drama and has a reason to be on a Hartnell collection

      2) it’s piece of garbage

    • Amypondfan

      December 12th, 2025 - 9:48pm

It has the first doctor and has events set around tenth planet. I think it qualifies regardless of quality. If you don’t like it I’ll give the same advice to those that grumbled that the ncuti footage was included in the pyramid of mars tales of the tardis. Don’t click on it or watch it

    • Rex F

      December 13th, 2025 - 12:41am

They’ll include Twice because it’s already cleared and so it’s an easy/cheap/lazy way of adding content for just a few pence per set in royalties (even though most people who care will likely own at least one HD copy already).

    • Rob

      December 13th, 2025 - 7:54am

I don’t speak for everyone. It’s fine if you like to watch it, personally it’s probably the worst story of that era for me. Yes worse than the guitar playing, sunshades on the top of the tank in medieval times scene.

Not only does Moffat make the first Doctor cringe worthy he brings back one of the dullest companions in years in a terrible written way.

I don’t think they should waste the disc space or printer ink on this travesty.

I’d imagine you could include both via seamless branching but with the enforced cuts on the broadcast gatwa version due to the an unearthly child situation I’m not sure if it’s an easy switch

Gordon, Planet of the Spiders episode 5 and 6 could do with recuts for the cliffhangers and reprise. I believe episode 5 should have ended with the appearance of the Queen on Sarah’s back.

      December 17th, 2025 - 10:53am

It should say as Smith at the end, as this is how it was originally broadcast (even if it looks like he’s hovering above the console and it’s terrible CSO), it needs to stay that way. I’m not for changing or altering original material from how it was originally shown.

Does anyone else have an issue with tales of the tardis looking like the badly encoded iplayer version. Feels like missing frames. Noticed it on the season one set as well. I assume a straight transfer but surprised it wasn’t given more attention as it is very off-putting. Especially since it only affects the pyramids section not the framing material. Anyone have any insight regarding this?

    • Gordon

      December 21st, 2025 - 12:36am

The tales version was filmised for broadcast which may have been the reason why it looks different

My guess for this range now is

    Early 2026-Season 21

Late 2026- Season 11, let’s hope with allot of work on Invasion of the dinosaurs

Early 2027- Season 16, hoping for a wide range of new special effects on this one

    2028
    Seasons 1 and 6
These are the most complete b/w seasons and includes stories unlikely to be annimated due to commercial viability so with Polo and Pirates reconstructed like the crusades.

Marco Polo- fantastic story but an animated historical would be a hard sell to the general public
    Reign of Terror- already annimated
Space Pirates- Weak space opera and of Little sale value to the BBC to make an animation in cost relative to return teams
    The Invasion- already annimated

Wheel in space is on I player and I think is reconstructed aswell but only ep 2 and 6 is still the same this would be a help boost for them episodes if they wouldn’t animated it in time

    • Chris

      December 9th, 2025 - 11:16am

True but Wheel is at the end of season 5 so that could be after 1 and 6 as well would complete season 5 reconstructions

      December 9th, 2025 - 11:27am

I’m starting to think we might get 16 first before 11. I did hear the running order all depended on scheduling as well as giving the fx folk a breather after 21. Chris chapman is editing a big starry biog for the one after 21 and it was majority filmed in 2023. There really isn’t much people in 11 that would be for a big starry biog. Considering one of the people he’s currently editing is Tom if it’s for the same thing I’d guess it’s for 16 and a Mary tamm biog. Considering the amount of people she worked with I could see that one being quite starry. Mind you I’ve also heard a few whispers that we might be getting a troughton next. We shall see

Marco Polo has a lot of name appeal in the same way that myth makers has appeal with the Trojan horse. Marco Polo is a challenge to animate due to it having a ton of locations characters and costumes. It’s also 7 parts and way more complex than evil (the other 7 parter). If it gets done I expect it later on and maybe post season 1 depending on how quickly the animation schedule moves

I think space pirates will get animated. Whether or not in time for season 6 to be released is another question. It’s still a gap that needs filled regardless of how much value the bbc sees in the story and there isn’t telesnaps to work off. I’m sure it will get a photo recon at least but it will be harder to do so.

I can see wheel getting animated ahead of season 5. Even if they didn’t the recon will probably be newly created. The one on iPlayer doesn’t use the surviving clips

I do think we will need a completed season via animation sooner rather than later for it to be included in sets.

Unless there is a break being planned after 16 and 11 they got about a year maximum before they have to start restoration work officially on another black and white release Obviously a wilderness years set could buy some more time but at most it’s 6 months and even then the wilderness era set really wouldn’t require a huge amount of restoration work

    • Prof Horner

      December 9th, 2025 - 12:31pm

I do think that after the colour seasons are out of the way there will be a longer gap between the release the seasons. Say we got season 6 in November 2027 with the next one in say July 2028 and then March 2029 and so on. It Will all be down to what Film is Fabulous recover and the animations which order the sixties seasons are released.

    • Scotel

      December 9th, 2025 - 6:52pm

I very much expect they’ll still be on the six month schedule. If they take longer on a set that will drive up costs and you’ll have people complaining (not to mention the complaints over it taking longer which already happen when the sets are on a reliable schedule).

There really isn’t that much that requires an extensive amount of time be dedicated to it. Of course any of the sets would benefit from more time but there’s nothing requiring it. Having more episodes didn’t get Season 2 any more time and absolutely won’t apply to Seasons 3, 4 and 5 (which between random episodes caught up by the animations as well as so much being missing are probably lighter on the required workload than any colour season meaning more time and money for extras).

    • Gordon

      December 10th, 2025 - 2:19am

I suspect they could balance the time frame of the 60s restorations out over 2 years even if they don’t plan on releasing them at that speed. Restore season 1 (34 episodes) followed by season 4 9 and 5 (19 eps combined) as the majority of the surviving episodes on season 4 and 5 were already done for the recent 2018 -2022 dvd and blu ray releases.

Season 3 and 6 could get done over another year. 37 eps for season 6 and 15 for 3. Bear in mind g4 and toymaker is already done for 3.

53 picture restored 1 year and 52 the other.

Surviving Episodes blu ray ready through animated and remastered releases:

G4: airlock plus surviving 400 dawns clip

      Toymaker: episode 4

      Savages: surviving clips

      Power: surviving clips

      Macra: surviving clips

Evil: ep 2 plus surviving clips

      Abominable: ep2 plus surviving clips.

Enemy: Not got a blu ray release but still blu ray ready through the 2018 remaster.

Web: 1,2,4-6 done for blu ray

      Fury: surviving clips

Both faceless ones and underwater menace didn’t get their surviving eps worked on for the animations

What surviving eps still needs to get worked on:

Season 1 picture restoration remaining (34):

Pilot and an unearthly child (5 eps)

The daleks (7 eps) (some of it was worked on for the daleks in colour)

      Inside the spaceship (2 eps)

      Keys of marinus (6 eps)

      The aztecs (4 eps)

      The sensorites (6 eps)

The reign of terror (4 eps) plus 1 min of surviving clips from 4 and 5.

As mark ayres will also tackle audio for missing episodes he has 7 eps of Marco Polo and an extra 2 reign eps to tackle (43 in total).

Season 3 picture restoration remaining (15):

Myth makers: about a minute of poor quality clips

Dalek masterplan (3 eps) plus a couple of minutes of clips

      The ark (4 eps)

      The gunfighters (4 episodes)

      The war machines (4 episodes)

Again Mark has a bit extra audio to do (33 episodes in total for s3)

Mission to the unknown (1 ep)

      Myth makers (4 eps)

      Masterplan (extra 9 episodes)

      Massacre (4 episodes)

For galaxy 4, celestial toymaker and the savages they are already done for the blu ray animation so I doubt much work will be done for those.

Season 4 picture restoration remaining (9):

Smugglers 45 secs of sensor clips (I believed it was cleaned up for the missing believed wiped colourisation)

Tenth planet (3 eps) plus surviving clips in 4

      The highlanders 10 second clip

      The underwater menace (2 eps)

      The moonbase (2 eps)

      The faceless ones (2 eps)

As the audio was remastered for the animations mark hasn’t got to deal with faceless ones or underwater menace. Also an audio restoration had been completed for highlanders for a power bonus feature but it was left off due to space so I’m counting that as done. In total it’s 16 mark needs to do:

      The smugglers (4 eps)

      10th planet (an extra ep)

      The moonbase (2 extra eps)

Season 5 picture restoration remaining (10):

Tomb of the cybermen (4 eps)

      The ice warriors (4 eps)

The wheel in space (2 eps) plus 2 short clips

As for audio mark has 16 eps as he has an extra 6 eps because of the missing warriors and wheel eps

Season 6 remaining picture restoration (37)

      The dominators (5 eps)

      The mind robber (5 eps)

      The invasion (6 eps)

      The Krotons (4 eps)

The seeds of death (6 eps)

      The space pirates (1 ep)

The war games (10 eps) though some of it was worked on for the in colour release

As for audio an extra 7 eps with 2 invasion and 5 space pirates also needing work (44)

To recap it’s 105 eps needing picture clean up and 152 audio eps needing work in the black and white era. They have been averaging around 52 eps a year so I think the picture restoration could hypothetically get done in that time frame. The audio would probably take a bit longer but it’s an achievable figure over 3 years. We should have everything restored by 2029 at the latest even if it’s not out plus animations could knock counts down and recoveries could change the number

I wonder if this ends up with the Collection Sets moving onto New Who as a secondary option for when they get to the B&W Seasons, as they already have had a few Blu-Ray Remaster in the last few years, but as the collection sets are would allow past cast members to talk about their time in the show (Chris Eccleston in Conversation would be fascinating and as honest as the Michael Grade one from Season 22) if possible, they could find the ending originally intended to be shown to Press for POTW before Ecclestons Departure was announced the week following Rose’s Broadcast…

The Comic Documentaries done for all the first 8 Doctors, now expand to the Panini Comics 9-15 and beyond as well as exploring the IDW and Titan Comics Runs. Behind the Sofas with Season Stars and Classic Doctors/Companions…

Christmas Invasion with Option to show Born Again as a lead in to it.

Feature Length versions of 2-Parters (eg like the 2015 broadcast of the Series 9 Opener.

Whilst it may not be much, it would give the restoration team some more time to get the B&W episode Blu-Ray Ready

      Mike

I agree doing Modern Who would give team more time to restore/animate 60s sets as more work to be done. Be good to watch the 2 and 3 partners as one mega story. (Bad wolf/Parting of the Ways, Utopia/sound of drums/last of the timelords, and family of blood/human nature as examples).

What was the original ending of POTW?

Would they do them in chronological order? Or pick a best season best Doctor to start like they did with Classic Collection did with S12.

    • Mikk89

      December 13th, 2025 - 1:55pm

@james when they were filming Parting of the Ways, it had been discussed that Eccleston was leaving withing the production team, but in an effort to keep it a secret, they filmed an ending in which the 9th Doctor scans Rose and finds that she’s dying amd starts rushing around the console, wether this would have tied into the Christmas Episode or not was not confirmed as it wasnt a guaranteed success, however when it got leaked on the news that Eccleston was leaving the show at the end of series 1 barely a week after episode 1 was broadcast, they just used the final ending in the broadcast episode. Would be great if they could find that ending and include it.

I expect others will pop up as well:

The time meddler can go on the savages as it’s set after Steven leaves.
The mind robber can go on mind robber or after war games on season 6
The three doctors could go on either season 11 or the hypothetical wilderness set
Vengeance on varos could go pretty much anywhere on a wilderness years set
Curse of fenric could go on a wilderness years post 1993 content (it’s set after dimensions)

    • Bob

      December 8th, 2025 - 3:08pm

I’m guessing that The Time Meddler will be on The Mission to the Unknown disc since there should be a lot of room compared to the others which will be full.

I’m also going to make a guess that the Season 11 boxset will have The Three Doctors and the new edit of The Sea Devils on the same bonus disc.

I surprisingly enjoyed this version of The Sea Devils considering how I’ve not been too keen on the other Bad Wolf edits. The only thing I really missed was the opening titles, perhaps they could reinstate them for this release.

    • Bobby Davros

      December 9th, 2025 - 3:09am

Vengeance has nothing to do with the wilderness years. If Earthshock can go in this release then they have no excuse for not including Vengeance as well given its a 5th and 6th Doctor boxset.Hell, it’s only two stories away from S21.

    • Gordon

      December 9th, 2025 - 8:49am

It doesn’t fit chronically to put time meddler on mission as the bookends are set after Steven leaves. Plus I’m sure mission will probably have a bunch of masterplan material attached to it. The sea devils is due to go on the war between the land and the sea. Depending on when season 11 is due out it might be seen as too soon to be included.

The bookend events of the varos tales is set after peri’s original time so it doesn’t fit chronically in season 21. It fits chronically to put earthshock in this as it’s set after Tegan left. It doesn’t really fit in the wilderness years set either but seeing as I can see that release being a mop up exercise for things that don’t fit elsewhere it’s probably the best considering the circumstances.

I’ve noticed that the 5th Doctor’s sets are the only seasons that have been released in order. Unlike the other Doctors box sets. Can’t believe we started with 4th Doctor’s season 12 back in 2018.

Here we are nearly 8 years later nearing the completion of these sets with a possible 3 more sets at least. Season 1, Season 11, and Season 16. I do believe they might throw in Season 6 at some stage as it only has 7 missing episodes.

I don’t know much about the rumour of an upcoming Patrick Troughton box set. Is it a box set that includes all of the 2nd Doctor’s surviving episodes giving the Blu-ray treatment passed off as Seasons 4, 5 & 6. Then they might do the same with Hartnells surviving episodes again passed of as Seasons 3 & 4. I would be happy with that as some of the animations I have already on Blu-ray.

Then they will probably do the new series, for the 11th, 12th, 13th, the 14th, and 15th Doctor’s could be as one complete box set. But am.not bothered about the new series too much as I have them all on the Blu-ray format and they best they can do is more special features.

So unless by some miracle they do manage to find the missing episodes of the remaining stories that are missing we know there is at least one of two that Film is Fabulous is believed to have found. But yeah I would be happy with the existing episodes from classic series on these collection sets on Blu-ray. I did hear a rumour that since of the missing episodes that turned up in 2013 Marco Polo was one of the find but was too badly decomposed to restore the episodes and they have been back with the BBC since 2013 and are hoping that the restoration team can one day restore the episodes. I don’t know if that is true but it was a rumour I heard on a You Tube video a while ago, but you know what these youtubers are like just click baiters.

I do think film is fabulous will come through but I suspect it will be a single digit figure of missing episodes.

That’s just the thing with Marco Polo it has baffled me as was it several countries got this story and not one episode exists so if Film is Fabulous the episodes that have been found a think that would be good if it’s at least one of two from Marco Polo. I just don’t believe that this story has gone forever I believe it is one of or more of the countries that it was distributed to have it somewhere and will be found one day.

Just wonder when they get round to Season 11 Pertwees last if they manage to get Invasion Of The Dinosaurs part one restored to full colour this time as it failed the colour test for the DVD release. It was an option to watch it in a pale colour attempt of the story.

What do you mean Tom by the Wilder Years? What would that contain as there was only the Paul McGann TV Movie, The Comic Relief The Curse Of Fatal Death, bbci version of Richard E Grants Scream Of The Shalka. Before the reboot in 2005.

We most certainly getting a full colour version of dinos 1. It’s already been said It will handled similarly as the colour restoration as ambassadors with the big difference it’s only one episode they are tackling.

There is way more stuff for a wilderness years set that just what you listed plus it can feature new and old extras that there wasn’t a place for it (who Peter 2, doctor who forever, search out space plus the four to doomsday and keeper of traken footage that turned up after s18/19 came out). 1 disc minimum would cover content 90-95. 3 discs minimum on the tv movie. 1 on 97-2000 era ie doctor who night 98/99 etc. 2-3 on the early 2000 animations and 1 on the 40th and the lead up to the return. 8 discs minimum

You have to remember Andy that all the stories sent out abroad had destroy orders attached to the deals. The films were either meant to be destroyed in situ or returned to the BBC and were destroyed there. That is why surviving episodes are increasingly rare. Yes, episodes may be out there but its extremely likely that many are lost forever whatever we might hope.

      December 9th, 2025 - 11:07am

The other thing to note about Marco polo although it was sold to many countries. Most of these sales were suppressed feild prints (they were cheaper and better for countries with older equipment generally) later in sales bbc enterprises did a recall of all its suppressed feild prints, junked them, and produced full feild prints to replace them but it looks like they were only sent put to a couple of places. I haven’t got the exact numbers to hand but it was something like the pool of possible prints went down from around 8 to 2/3. Its believed this recall is the reason why Marco hasn’t turned up as its early sales were likely all returned and junked unlike the later ones but because so many places had already shown it they didnt require many of the newer prints. Its a really sad realisation if its true and sadly makes a lot of sense. My hope is that when they did the recall and dump, some avant film collectors liberated them from the pile for fif to rediscover

Done by a lot of the team that did the new Blake’s 7 effects and season 25. (Richard Ashton, Chris Thompson etc) . Chris Thompson says on his CT design and illustration Facebook group:

We took a break for a couple of seasons, but we’re back, yeeting bits of plastic across a room for Doctor Who Season 21!

Almost 470 shots (More than half of which are in Warriors of the Deep alone) across 5 stories.

New models built by myself, Titan Studios 3D and It’s An Ashton.

A new Myrka designed and built by Chris Stephens (you’ll see more of it later)

And a new Magma Beast courtesy of James Burgess.

And of course, my Himbos of the Deep. Andrew Clements, Connor Flanagan, Ben Page and Ryan Wade.

I’m also quite pleased that the ‘Tales of the TARDIS’ omnibus of ‘Earthshock’ is being included, as I think that one was one of the strongest entries for that series with the framing sequence featuring the 5th Doctor and Tegan. I wonder if this one will included the 2003 optional updated special effects?

If anyone is interested. Talking Pictures are showing the 1979 series The Omega Factor Staring Louise Jamison tonight at 9,05pm . A very spooky series that fell foul of dreaded Mary Whitehouse.

The press release spends a lot of time discussing irrelevances I will never have any interest in watching, but fails to answer the most important question: Will The Twin Dilemma finally get the isolated score it was denied on the DVD‽

I imagine it won’t if they are just porting over the extra features from the DVD. We have a making of at last and Sixth Dr escape room.

The first of those two things you mention fall within the “irrelevances I will never have any interest in watching” category.

And this wouldn’t be the first time isolated scores have débuted on a BD release.

Wow ! You can almost see a Tractator on that cover. Looks like Frontios has been somewhat overlooked.

All stories are represented well on that superb cover ,and the tractator is in the middle at the top of them all! , i don’t call that being overlooked, especially with the main internal art being from frontios itself.

If anyone has been overlooked, it’s the Gastropods!

      Tractator is right there.

Watch the video, its good but Frontios barely gets a look in and I agree Twin Dilemma doesnt seem to exist… Suppose the taste of the sellers will take preference though.

The internal art is Frontios-inspired – the booklet housing flaps always have a scene depicting the regulars and the TARDIS inspired by one story in the season, and this time it’s Frontios (with the TARDIS in bits). There’s also loads of clips from Frontios in the trailer. I don’t think it’s particularly overlooked – which I’m happy about, it’s a great story imo

Clay – my favourite Davison story. Everything about it is superb. Pity Peter didnt get another season as he found his feet. Lots better than his other two seasons.

Just got my copy ordered. Since Rarewaves proved pretty good when I got the Season 13 set, I thought I’d use that site again, since the 10% coupon means it’s slightly cheaper than on Amazon!

I notice that, that the inclusion of the Sixth Doctor’s debut story, ‘The Twin Dillema’, is getting very little acknowledgment in the trailer and on the cover-art. It’s definitely mainly focused on the 5th Doctor. I imagine it’s because of Twin Dilemma’s infamous reputation as the worst story of the classic series.

It looks like both Doctor’s faces appear on the disc tray art, and the light behind Davison on the cover obviously represents the regeneration that awaits him. But I agree, it would have been nice to have a small but obvious nod to Colin on the actual cover. Will be interesting to see what eventually happens for Season 4.

The Tardis console page might feature Colin on the floor. Or he’ll feature on the back cover.

This is though a 5th doctor season with only one 6th dr story. Naturally the cover will reflect that. I seem to remember Gordon, I think, mention on another collection that the team had said this would be a davison only cover and that season 4 would be a troughton only cover.

    • Rory, the original you might say

      December 5th, 2025 - 4:59pm

@bookcollector, yup, it’s been mentioned a few times that the creatives have confirmed there would only be one Doctor on the cover for both this and S4, and it would be the one with the majority of episodes in the season.

‘The Twin Dilemma’ is far from the worst story of all Classic Who. All of Season 24 (minus ‘Dragonfire’) and a few Season 17 embarassments are far worse than Colin’s debut story.
I am hoping and praying that an isolated score option of Malcolm Clarke’s music is available for ‘The Twin Dilemma’ as it was never an option on the DVD release, no explanation given!
They gave an isolated score option for the dreary dirge like incidentals of ‘Arc of Infinity’ and ‘Terminus’ but ‘The Twin Dilemma’ was elbowed!!

The Twin Dilemma isn’t the worst story of the classic series far from it! Maybe the post regeneration stuff was a little ill judged but even as a 10 year old viewer I knew the Doctor would come through in the end! It’s maybe a little unfortunate that it comes directly after Caves of Androzani. Most stories will look run of the mill after that!
The Twin Dilemma is a solid enough story a good 7/10 in my book and it’s got Kevin McNally and Maurice Denham in it!!

Kind of want to see Big Finish Do and Audio Sequel about the Doctor fighting the Daleks on Trion, spinning off from the mini-cliffhanger

I’ve enjoyed everyone of these releases and will continue to do so, I look forward to the completion of the entire Classic series, don’t think I’ve really complained about anything, yes their getting a bit pricey, but so much material and history in there.

And the quality is far in excess of what we’ve experienced from decades gone by, they take pride in mancave all lined up, waiting for the grand finale, just hope I reach that age!

I’m looking forward to this. Even if it does include one of my least liked Who stories. Planet Of Fire zzz. So dull.

In a season containing the twin dilemma, the planet of fire looks like a classic lol
