Doctor Who The Church on Ruby Road DVD

Available to order from www.amazon.co.uk

The Doctor Who Christmas special is now available for fans to pre-order on DVD and Blu-ray.

Fans can add this year’s festive episode, The Church on Ruby Road, to their at-home collection following it airing on Christmas Day.

The Church on Ruby Road will see the Fifteenth Doctor Ncuti Gatwa take control of the TARDIS and meet new companion Ruby Sunday, played by Millie Gibson, for the first time.

Long ago on Christmas Eve, a baby was abandoned in the snow. Today, Ruby Sunday meets the Doctor, stolen babies, goblins and perhaps the secret of her birth…

Little is known about Ruby Sunday as she was abandoned on Christmas Eve as a baby. Now living with her mum, Carla and grandmother, Cherry her world is about to be turned upside down when she encounters the Doctor and the two set off on their first adventure together.

Alongside Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson is Davina McCall who will be playing herself as she joins the cast alongside Michelle Greenidge as Ruby’s mum Carla, Angela Wynter as Ruby’s grandmother Cherry and Anita Dobson as Mrs Flood.

Doctor Who’s Christmas special, The Church on Ruby Road, airs December 25th at 5.55pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, and streams on Disney+ globally outside of the UK and Ireland.

Starting to get more than a little annoyed that the last couple of DVD releases have only got on the back covers: ‘INCLUDES BONUS FEATURES’ but no actual listing on what is there? It can’t cost that much to print on the inside cover a list of features or even just a leaflet listing these details?

The quick turnaround is probably to blame. It is daft, but if they added detail at the last moment it would probably need a further round of approvals by half a dozen people (who don’t really care that much and can’t be bothered to hurry up).

There are loads of companies who don’t list the extras on the back of DVD or bluray. The BBC are no different to big companies out there. You find out what the extras are when you put the disc in!

I’m more surprised that people still buy DVD’s. Especially when it is available in HD.

That and you might as well wait for the complete season set later in the year.

How come none of the usual places expand on the TAO acronym? I’m never any the wiser, and I’ve only seen it used by one person here.

They have just done it again with the ‘Daleks In Colour’ 2-Disc Set. No inside cover & not even a booklet to cover this release. Extremely disappointing!

Why is it disappointing? It’s just a booklet and remember most of the new who releases never had booklets. None of the individual releases had a booklet. All the inside covers used to have was a list of the tracks from the scenes. Then they stopped and it was photos or just a blank interior. The daleks is more of a new who release than a classic series one. I’m not getting it as it wasn’t any good – (doesn’t mean others can’t want it or buy it it, just that I didn’t rate it. We don’t need a booklet. It is not important.

When they release the full series DVDs, I hope they leave the Christmas Specials out, put the first three episodes on the first disc, then the next three on the second and the two part final on the third.
