Doctor Who: The BBC Radio Episodes Audio CD’s
Released on 07/04/2011
A special slipcase containing each of the Doctor’s full-cast BBC radio adventures: “The Paradise of Death”; “The Ghosts of N-Space”; “Exploration Earth – The Time Machine”; “Slipback”.
Also included is the 1975 made-for-LP audio adventure ‘Doctor Who and the Pescatons’ and the 1994 spoof ‘Whatever Happened To…Susan?’.
Jon Pertwee, Elisabeth Sladen, Nicholas Courtney, Tom Baker, Colin Baker, Nicola Bryant and Jane Asher are amongst the cast.
The Paradise of Death
Fitting seamlessly into television continuity between The Time Warrior and Invasion of the Dinosaurs, this made-for-radio adventure reunited the classic cast of Jon Pertwee, Elisabeth Sladen and Nicholas Courtney with television producter Barry Letts.
When a horrific and inexplicable death occurs at Space World, a new theme park on Hampstead Heath, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart and UNIT are called in to investigate.
The Doctor is highly suspicious. Just who controls the Parakon Corporation, the shadowy organisation behing the running of the park? What is ‘Experience Reality’? And what are the limits of its awesome powers?
The Ghosts of N-Space
The Brigadier’s ancient great-uncle Mario seems unsurprised by the spectres which haunt his even more ancient Sicilian castle. But when the Doctor comes to investigate he finds himself with a danger as great as any he has ever encountered.
Is the answer to be found in the past, in the corrupt alchemy of the black-hearted sorcerer, said to have been walled up for his evil deeds?
Written specially for radio by Barry Letts, and starring Jon Pertwee.
Or must the Doctor – and the faithful Sarah Jane Smith – brave the realm of ghosts and face the very fiends of hell?
Slipback
Colin Baker, Nicola Bryant and Valentine Dyall star in this BBC Radio 4 adventure, digitally remastered onto CD for the first time.
Following a spot of uncharacteristic intoxication, the Doctor wakes to find that the TARDIS has materialised in the service duct of the Vipod Mor, a huge craft which is itself floating in deep space. Furthermore, the console has detected Time spillage: someone is tampering with Time!
Such experimentation could not only damage the Space/Time continuum, but destroy the past and future history of the Universe. The Doctor and Peri board the craft to investigate.
Time experimentation isn’t the only illegal activity being conducted on board. A number of valuable works of art have been stolen from those planets which the craft has visited, and two rather suspect policemen are patrolling the ducting in search of the intergalactic art thief. The Doctor is soon interrogated about the secrets of Time travel.
So who will stop the spiteful captain cultivating and unleashing a killer disease?
Exploration Earth
The Time Machine was recorded and broadcast in 1976, the third of four instalments in a BBC Schools Radio programme. The TARDIS travels 4,500 years into Earth’s past, and the Doctor and Sarah witness the very beginnings of the planet. As the ship takes them forward to different stages of the planet’s development, they encounter Megron, the Lord of Chaos. Earth is under his control, and he intends for chaos to reign ever more…
