The 14th Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver Chrome Edition
Please be aware that counterfeit Sonic Screwdrivers are being sold on online market places.
The Fourteenth Doctor’s essential accessory is available now as an online exclusive!
Character Options is delighted to announce a brand-new exclusive for its iconic Doctor Who Collection, as the Fourteenth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver.
Heading into the 60th Year of Doctor Who it seemed entirely fitting that the Fourteenth Doctors Sonic Screwdriver was given an exciting exclusive unveiling to fans on the Doctor Who Booth at the San Deigo Show!
The limited-edition version boasts an exclusive ‘electro plated’ finish making it look like real polished steel and brass. It also boasts two modes of operation, Open and Closed, as well as five brand new and totally unique sound and light effects, with each accessed by a different button sequence. The Sonic comes in Regeneration style packaging with a sturdy mailer box.
Ensuring all fans have the chance to own this special piece, Character Options is delighted to confirm the latest Online Exclusive and for this Anniversary year, is this very same Special Edition of the Fourteenth Doctor’s new sonic device and is available for sale and immediate delivery now.
Al Dewar, Head of Product Development, commented: “Since the announcement of David Tennant’s return as the Fourteenth Doctor, I think it’s safe to say fans have been a wee bit keen to know much more about this as yet unseen iteration of the Sonic. Its look and function have been (rightly) entirely shrouded in mystery, and now with this Doctor’s essential accessory is officially unveiled, it’s a pure delight for us to confirm that in partnership with the BBC and Wolf Studios, we have been able to produce a really different and special version of this absolutely beautiful sonic.
“Having it ready for the start of the new series, I think is a genuine first in our history with the Doctor Who Brand and once again it’s with huge thanks to all involved that we’ve been able to achieve this.”

November 20th, 2023 - 7:55pmThere are 3 pages of scalpers on eBay, that’s around 180 screwdrivers.
Disgusting that this has become the norm.
Judooning
November 20th, 2023 - 9:18pmIt’s bad, but 180 screwdrivers out of thousands isn’t that big of a number really. There would have been hundreds/thousands of other genuine people who did get one, but we just don’t hear about it because they don’t comment etc. Scalpers seem like a huge chunk of sales. But in the grand scheme of things, it’s tiny.
It’s still 180 sonics too many tho of course.

November 20th, 2023 - 6:25pmTook me 90 minutes to order two one each for 2 mates of mine. This morning from 10AM sharp. Adding to the basket wasn’t an issue it’s just the 7 steps to actually pay for basket contents that’s the problem. And seeing how many are on ebay now it’s obvious the 2 per customer limit to stop or at least hinder the scalpers has not worked. Wether you pay by PayPal or your debit card there was a huge delay. Ridiculous. This Internet shopping is not all it’s cracked up to be. And we got to do this all again on there soon….

November 20th, 2023 - 3:57pmThis was definitely a ****show. They should have been more prepared and what queue goes from 45 minutes to an1 hour to 2 hours.
Doc
November 20th, 2023 - 4:13pmI absolutely agree that this should have been better handled, the queue thing is explainable.
The timer is based on an estimation of how long it thinks customers on the store will take, because the checkout crashed for the first hour or so, as PayPal thought there was a DDOS attack and wouldn’t let orders go through because of the sudden influx of orders at 10am, this caused people to stay a lot longer on the site, at the checkout, and so the timer fluctuated and added time in response.
Some sellers on eBay are expecting a delivery of 4 of these, so the anti-scalping was avoided in areas, 4 sonics on there for £130 each. Insanity.

November 20th, 2023 - 6:11pmAgreed I was waiting 13 minutes then finally get on but can’t order as it refused to let you select your country. Ended up giving up

November 20th, 2023 - 7:55pmCould they not have done a preorder, and then produced the required amount of stock? They’d already decided to scrap the initial limited number, so I don’t think it would have been dishonest for them to say something like, “limited to one more production run”?
Doc
November 20th, 2023 - 3:56pmDoes anyone know how many units were actually on sale today?
I expected them to go fast, scalpers selling them for £1K you see the appeal to them, nevertheless I must admit I’m surprised that they sold in 3 and a half hours, especially given that PayPal wouldn’t let anyone make an order for the first hour!
AB
November 20th, 2023 - 4:46pmDo you know how many the initial run was?
Doc
November 20th, 2023 - 4:54pmI don’t, but i’d assume the same size as todays. I wondered if perhaps they were numbered, but I don’t think so. It would certainly be enlightening to know.

Iain B
November 20th, 2023 - 5:24pm2 an half hours. Timer kept jumping up and down. The site was a joke
Matt Y
November 20th, 2023 - 5:53pmI bought two – as I knew the scalpers were going to be going in. It’s for someone who wasn’t able to get one today. You are welcome to buy if from me at RRP. If that helps. I don’t how it works on here as not a selling platform. And admin may not like this at all. My apologies to admin if this not allowed. Just trying to help someone out.

November 20th, 2023 - 12:38pmI was finally able to place an order but didn’t get an email confirmation. I did screenshot the order number on the webpage. Unfortunately, I was charged twice because of the website crashing. Not sure if that means I’ve placed two orders, but I won’t know until I get an email confirmation.
BinMan
November 20th, 2023 - 12:35pmTried twice. Confirmed the purchase but it hasn’t charged me for it or gone onto the confirm order page. Not sure if I should try again incase they charge for those failed attempts in the end
Andrew
November 20th, 2023 - 12:41pmI’ve tried 5 times with various devices and payment methods and it didn’t work. I’ve given up. All I wanted was 1 item…emailed their Customer Service with my observations.
Andrew
November 20th, 2023 - 12:32pmIt’s 7:30 am where I am in America. Tried waking up at 5 proper when it hit 10 over in UK, lost sone hope and tried sleeping after seeing the long queue, but fortunately waking up when I did glad to see the stock had survived for my order.
Exporting ain’t cheap, of course, if I did my Mary right I still would be paying $60 after shipping with this, so I made it extra worth it and threw in the Silurian set with my order. Two exclusives in one, even if it does drive up my cost further.
Andrew
November 20th, 2023 - 12:34pm*did my math. Phone autocorrect strikes again.

November 20th, 2023 - 12:15pmGoddit. Failed at cart stage once, got put back in a (shorter) queue, took it to checkout, through PayPal and back to order confirmation. Just the one for me, so I hope they’ve resolved some of the QC issues from the last batch.
Stick with it peeps. It’s frustrating as hell, but if you hang on for a bit longer it’ll (hopefully) be worth it. Brave Heart and Good Luck!

November 20th, 2023 - 12:13pmUpdate. After a very challenging morning, I finally got in and purchased.
Stay strong everyone.

November 20th, 2023 - 12:10pmWhen I pressed confirm order it took a while to load before it put me back to the main page with the item still in my basket which was weird. I wasn’t sure it went through and was about to order again just in case. Then luckily I got a receipt from pay pal confirming it. Which is weird because I paid by card…

November 20th, 2023 - 1:44pmAh! Have now received an unexpected confirmation email from character. (I’d heard they often don’t bother.)
Jon
November 20th, 2023 - 12:08pmGot mine ordered, after also being kicked off partway through trying to resolve a checkout issue. Not had an email confirmation yet, but Paypal shows the transaction .
This will actually be my 2nd one, as I succumbed and bought one when they appeared on eBay for £50 about a month back.
