Doctor Who Target 2022 The Androids of Tara

Available to order from www.amazon.co.uk and www.forbiddenplanet.com

“Why is your first impulse to reach for your swords and never a screwdriver?”

The Doctor and Romana’s search for the fourth segment of the all-powerful Key to Time leads them to the planet Tara, where courtly intrigue and romantic pageantry employ the most sophisticated technology.

Within hours of arriving, Romana is mistaken for a powerful princess and the Doctor forced to dally with robotic royalty – and both are quickly embroiled in the scheming ambitions of the wicked Count Grendel. Finding the segment of the Key is easy enough, but escaping with it in one piece will prove an altogether more colourful affair…

Oh what?! The new logo has been used and looks a little lost on the book… Oh well, we had the seventies logos, eighties etc… Just looks out of keeping with the rest of the recent Dr Who target books… Seems odd to be using this logo especially as it will be redesigned again for the new Doctor…

Not by the author they won’t – he died a few years back. I suppose they could get Tom, or maybe John Leeson, to sign some?

I know this is the style for the Rarget books now, but this feels a bit meh. It coukd never beat the horgeous Original, but ….

I dont remember Mary Tamm as a punk with a mohican ☺

Thats because she hasn’t got a mohican. its a figurative depiction of her face inside the key to time segment as the story revolves around her and her Android clone.

I wish the logo at the top was more consistent with the rest of the novels

There will no doubt be another new logo soon. The logo has always changed. My target collection features 7 different logos with variations between the individual logos for colour, size etc. It doesn’t make any difference.

What irritates me is that the first ones rereleased in 2012 had a cream colour background and the later ones had white. If you put them together, the cream ones look off white and age discoloured next to the white ones! Just my OCD I guess

Just wondering, but why are they re-releasing the Androids of Tara and The Stones of Blood? Would have thought re-releases like Planet of the Spiders, Robot, the Doomsday Weapon, the Dæmons or even The Sea-Devils would have been re-released instead of Androids and Stones

Technically this is a new novelisation as the original version was by Terrance Dick’s. I presume that this is manuscript that David Fisher wrote for the audiobook release – or perhaps a cut-down version of it.
