the bbc special version is described as a slipcase, so am i right in thinking this artwork will be under the slipcase?

    I adore it!

Really quite dissapointed in this, it looks nice but the cogs are far too animated, as for the “featured” characters around the Doctor, it urks me that the Missy image is a screengrab and the Dalek and Cyberman are promotional photos for “Asylum of the Daleks” and “Nightmare in Silver” rather than being specific to this series. I like the inclusion of Danny though and Capaldi looks lovely as usual. I’ll be getting the limited edition anyway, so this doesn’t bother me

This is ok! But i think the cogs look to animated! I know they are but i want it to look more real! And it needs to be darker! Just shows me that the dark tone we were promised has not even been brought to the merchanside, let alone the episodes.

We can probably also assume this will be the uk cover to, as the artwork the Aus and the UK has been the same from series 6 and 7!

I wonder how long before Capaldis story’s start to find their way to the ‘dvd files’ collection..I think their boxes are just a little more in keeping with the style of the BBC’s classic releases…never bothered with Eccleston’s ,Smith or Tennant…but Capaldi’s is the first ‘new who’ Doctor who has interested me enough to want his DVDs… but Id prefer the stories individually boxed….

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the new series episodes were also released in the style of classic DVDs? Maybe the under side of the covers could be a classic cover or something. 😀

I always assumed that the volume editions from Series 1-7 were supposed to be a way to continue on the “classic” DVDs, but it seems that the 2014 redesigns of the box sets are now meant to be in favour of those.

I’ll be honest, I don’t like it. I like the gold colour and the idea of cogs with character’s faces inside them, but Clara’s pose just looks wrong in my opinion. I think if a different pose was used, probably with Clara facing forward, it would look great.

Wow! I love it. Personally I would have liked it they were a little more faded rather than completely solid and also a bit darker but the rest makes up for it.
Wonder if they’ll use any other materials other than card.
Just hope it is a good size as it feels like the box sets are getting smaller (if you have all the box sets lined up like me its really annoying)

So there’s not gonna be any individual volumes? Or will the set contain the volumes like Series 6/7 did? Because I prefer the volumes and if they stop releasing them it’s gonna be a bitch for my kinda collectors

I don’t see there will be individual volumes. Due to this being the first full season to start in the Autumn, the BBC is maximising on the Xmas market in November when the previous box sets have all generally been released

I think the Missy cog should be pushed to the outside like a border, then they could fit more cogs and monsters in…
thats just me being picky, but its very nice

Yes – now this is what I call a DVD cover. It has meaning, references to the actual series, a DIFFERENT Capaldi image for once, and… clock works! Very happy this has been updated from that rather terrible TBC one.

Best one yet, even if it has no teller, skovox, Sherwood robots, the half faced man, spiders or a mummy. Just Daleks and cybermen

They aren’t going to put every villain on the cover. It would be cramped. They pick the two most iconic or the main villains on the series. The ones that people recognise and so pick the DVDs up for. When was the last DVD cover that had a ‘monster if the week’ on the cover?

Answer – there hasn’t been one.

I can’t quite work out whether I think that’s gorgeous or hideously ugly… I think I’m erring towards the former, but one thing’s for certain: that font used for “the complete eighth series” is totally wrong for Doctor Who. It’s too plain!
