Doctor Who Series 13 Flux/Revolution Of The Daleks Soundtrack CD

Debuting at Halloween 2021, Flux was the first Doctor Who series in 36 years to tell one complete story across its entirety, rather than self-contained episodes. Jodie Whittaker returned for her third and final season in the title role. This three CD set features the score for Flux spread across two CDs and includes a bonus disc, the New Years’ Day special broadcast in 2021, Revolution Of The Daleks.
Segun Akinola is a composer for film and television who has strengthened many projects with his musical acumen. He is most known for his music in the latest series of Doctor Who, starring the first female Doctor, Jodie Whittaker. Segun’s work is a key immersive tool for showrunner Chris Chibnall and series directors to establish the many adventures the Doctor and her friends travel on. These include the impressive 80s influenced electronic score for The Tsuranga Conundrum to the heart-wrenching Demons of the Punjab which utilised specialist Indian musicians and orchestra, all recorded at Abbey Road Studios. He also scored the critically acclaimed Doctor Who VR experience, Doctor Who: The Runaway.
Segun scored Sundance 2019 favourite The Last Tree, which was also recorded at Abbey Road Studios. This is Segun’s second feature film collaboration with director Shola Amoo after A Moving Image, and it earned him a Discovery of the Year award nomination at the World Soundtrack Awards. A BAFTA Breakthrough Brit 2017, Segun’s other work includes scoring BBC Two’s landmark four-part series Black and British: A Forgotten History.

October 4th, 2022 - 4:22pmThey don’t tend to sell out before it’s released and I have not seen the price drop, from the few I have had on pre-order over the years. They might drop the price a couple of pounds later on, but not for a long while after release. They do charge £3.99 shipping.

September 28th, 2022 - 2:03pmI’m usually tempted by most things Dr Who, but it’s the money that holds me back. I’ve just recently given in and pre-ordered the Zavvi Fourth doctor with 10% discount. I’ve been holding back a bit this year with my spends, as I have a feeling next years 60th anniversary there will be a lot of merchandise I’ll be wanting to get.

I’ve only just bought Zavvis Tom too, since someone mentioned on here you could now pay in 3 installments from PayPal. (To make it more affordable).
I Wanted that version of Tom for years but he was always around £500 to £800 on Ebay when I looked.
Tried Using the “Split-it” Payment TWO years ago when he first went on pre-Order with Zavvi but they wouldn’t accept Debit Cards.
Anyway, “Woo Who” I’ve finally got one.

Im sure quite a few company’s I order from only charge around £2.99 for a DVD or Blu-ray. (Including Amazon).

September 29th, 2022 - 6:41pmGreat to hear that you have bought it Coleman, and that you also have pre-ordered the Fourth doctor from Zavvi. Hopefully we will get him in October. I pre-ordered a couple of weeks ago when there was 10% off with code. I prefer this version of Tom to the new one from Season 18 from Big Chief. Silva Screen do charge a bit more for postage, and yes £3.99 is quite a lot. They usually package it better than Amazon though, having ordered other soundtracks from Silva Screen over the years.

September 27th, 2022 - 8:00pmWe still haven’t had the Classic Soundtracks for The 3rd & 6th Doctor in the Classic Soundtrack Wave. I’m pretty sure the reason why we haven’t had another one since The Sun Makers/The Visitation release (all the way back in 2020) is because Mark Ayres has been too busy with The Collection releases. What I do know is that the choices we’ve got are very good:

Segun’s music has been excellent. I am a huge fan of Murray Gold’s music as well and all the other classic who composers. We still need Series 10 to come though.

September 20th, 2022 - 3:49pmI’ve really enjoyed Segun Akinola’s music, in places I’ve been reminded of Tangerine Dream and more classic Doctor Who soundscapes, much prefare this to Murray Gold’s orchestral scores. Look forward to buying the Flux CD.

September 20th, 2022 - 6:04pmCouldn’t agree more. Not a fan of the orchestral US movie-style scores ‘that tell you what to feel’ myself. For me Segun’s scores are much closer to that ‘Who’ soundscape. I like his arrangement of the theme too and how it works with the titles.
Don’t usually buy these as I would never listen to them but this might be an exception!
