I’d say this will gain some new interest and sales will rise, given the Rogue appearance. Paul Cornell stories always good anyway

Richard E Grant appearing in the montage of the doctor’s faces in ‘Rogue’. A lot of people might only discover this quite good dvd because of that

Indeed. I’ve just ordered it from HMV as its still in stock there. Never seen it before. It was in stock yesterday on Amazon but is now suddenly out of stock so I think you’re right. Definitely going to go up in sales.

It’s okay. Grant is decent but it takes time for him to really get into it. The plot is good but I find it jumps around the scenes to quickly at times. I prefer the novel to watching it. Although it does feature David Tennant uncredited!

I think that when The Great Intelligence goes into The Doctor’s timeline, he causes the Doctor to regenerate into Richard E. Grant, the Shalka Doctor. Who then gets older and becomes John Hurt.
If that were true, then I wouldn’t mind Moffat fiddling around with established Doctor Who history.

my theory is that the 8th doctor regerated into the shalka doctor but somtime after the events of this he broke the promise and he no longer thought of that incarnation as the doctor so when he regenerated again he thought of that as the 9th, if you look at it the shalka doctor looks a bit like a younger john hurt

Looks okay, I think the caption for ‘starring richard e. Grant’ is too big.

It’s not the best cover in the world, but I’ll still buy it.

I saw interesting tweet from outpost skaro where they said: who thinks scream of the shalka is a red herring for a surprise enemy of the world DVD release?

Could this be an hint that enemy of the world might be getting announced for DVD release?

So they think BBC Worldwide would market an item and allow every retail site such as Amazon, BBC shop etc etc etc to take pre orders and in some case money for it only for it to be a red herring?

Has anybody noticed that Amazon has this listed twice – one at £15.24 other at £19.99 – both region 2. Does anyone know if there are 2 versions of this coming out-a collectors edition?

      What do you lot think?

I watched this when it came out, but last night I just went onto dailymotion and watched it for nothing. Personally, Richard e grant is better at the great intelligence than his Dracula-doctor. The angles were also really messed up

But after the events of The Name of the Doctor, when the Great Intelligence stepped into the Doctor’s time stream (as played by Richard E Grant) and this Doctor is voiced by Richard E Grant and is modelled on Richard E Grant, then this could now be considered as a canon adventure in which the Doctor/Great Intelligence embarked on a whole series of adventures. Maybe he was influenced by Clara to do good! 🙂

A better theory is that the john hurt doctor first regenerated into a Richard E grant Doctor, but events in the time war being wibbly as they are the events causing the regenerating were undone and when john hurt doctor regenerated again it was into Eccleston doctor. THe timeline with Grant Doctor became redundant and he all but faded from time but the Idea of him remained…the idea became the Great intellence.
Why else would he be so intent on destroying the doctors past and future

Maybe getting a bit too fannish here, but i’ve always seen this as the timeline that was supposed to be if the Time War hadn’t happened. It does have more of a classic series feel to it, you could say this was the true final end of the classic series format.

A separate release, since it’s not really part of continuity within the series.

I wonder if they’ll also do the 6th Doctor web-cast story ‘Real Time’ as well on DVD. The one with the Cybermen with red eyes.

It is actually being sold as part of the classic releases, even if it doesn’t follow the new series continuity.
