Doctor Who Royal Mail Stamps Now On Sale
Doctor Who Stamps Now On Sale
With thanks to eulogy…
The stamps are available for purchase online at www.shop.royalmail.com
The stamps feature each of the Eleven Doctors – from William Hartnell, the first ever Doctor, to Matt Smith, the current Time Lord – depicting all the actors who have played the role on the BBC over the last five decades. The stamp designs see the face of each Doctor appearing out of the iconic swirling screen idents, made famous by the opening credits of the TV show.
In addition to the 11 stamps featuring the Doctors, a five stamp miniature sheet will also be available.
In the centre of the sheet is a stamp featuring the Doctor’s space and time travelling machine, the world famous Time and Relative Dimension in Space or the TARDIS as it is more commonly known. The remaining four stamps feature some of the Doctor’s most famous foes; a Dalek, a Cyberman, an Ood and a Weeping Angel.
Andrew Hammond, Managing Director, Stamps and Collectibles at Royal Mail: “We are delighted to be able to celebrate this remarkable 50th anniversary. These stamps pay tribute to the brilliant actors that have played the Doctor over the years as well as the adversaries that helped make the show so popular.”
Fiona Eastwood, Product Development Director, BBC Worldwide Consumer Products said: “The Doctor Who stamps are the perfect way to mark and celebrate the 50th anniversary of this much-loved programme. The collection is really impressive, and I am sure they will delight all Doctor Who fans.”

March 26th, 2013 - 8:41pmBought the first day covers and postcards last week and got the stamps today. Fixed them to the covers and posted them to myself so that they get the Cyberman/Dalek postmark. Also makes them worth more. Gonna get the prestige collection so that I have some unspoiled but not sure whether to order it online or whether to wait a fortnight until I can next get to the nearest post office that sells them (the post office I use isn’t stocking the prestige collection, it’s only the larger ones). Might just order it online; I think it’ll be easier.

March 26th, 2013 - 6:57pmIt was certainly a challenging day trying to get stamps today. I managed three post offices during and after work. All 1st day covers had been reserved for “collectors”; sadly these days there are more eBay traders than collectors buying these things.
Most shops sold out quickly; so must have been quite a phenomenon for Post Office workers.
