Doctor Who Mission to Magnus 6th Doctor Audio CD
Available to order from www.amazon.co.uk
Nicola Bryant reads the novelisation of a ‘lost’ TV story for the Sixth Doctor and Peri.
“Is it the Doctor I have drawn to me?”
The TARDIS has been pulled off course and sent hurtling through space and time. When it finally stops, Peri is amazed to witness the Doctor’s transformation into a cringing coward.
The takeover of the TARDIS by the school bully from the class of the fourth millennium on Gallifrey is only the first of the Doctor’s problems. On the surface of the planet Magnus more of his old enemies are conspiring to trick the planet’s all-female rulers.
The Doctor and Peri have to foil a plot to freeze the entire world and wipe out most of the population.
Nicola Bryant, who played Peri in the BBC TV series, reads Philip Martin’s novelisation of his own television script, planned but ultimately unmade for the cancelled 1985 series of Doctor Who.

July 20th, 2025 - 2:11pmI remember thinking this was such a shame it never got made for TV, then I read the book, and eventually heard the Big Finish audio play. Urgh. I think it was probably a good thing that it wasn’t made…

July 20th, 2025 - 2:14pmAye, I do kind of think Michael Grade’s timing was a little out. If he’d given it another year he could have cancelled the show and had no comeback. The original Season Twenty-Three was not up to much really.

July 20th, 2025 - 2:23pmThe scripts would have probably been amended although considering saward was in charge of script editing then he probably wouldn’t have bothered fixing the issues.

July 20th, 2025 - 5:23pmShame the Robert Holmes final story, working title: ‘Yellow fever and how to cure it’ was never finished.

July 19th, 2025 - 1:46pmSuch a shame we missed out on the ice warriors returning in 1986 (when this would have been broadcast) but I think the story would have needed work! The storyline reads more mid seventies than mid eighties. I do enjoy the book, in fact I’m halfway through reading it again now, and it’s fun but definitely flawed

July 18th, 2025 - 9:01amThis is based on the original cover published in 1990 the big finish cover was 2009. I like the original cover but this version makes the characters stand out slightly more.
