I think this might be some kind of linked series as there is a 3rd Doctor one listed for July called ‘horrors of war’s. Possibly a second doctor one in June?

I’m guessing this is meant to be some sort of arc about the whole “Doctor of War” thing mentioned in Twice Upon a Time.

I have to say, I’m really excited about the fact that the BBC are using Sara Kingdom as one of the Companions, considering she only achieved companion status through expanded media.

With her appearing in this and Mrs Wibbesy in that Fourth Doctor Audio, I’m hoping we get more interesting Tardis team dynamics. It’d be nice to see Three with Liz and Jo.

Am I the only one who would have liked this to have been an actual novel? That image would have been a great cover for a book. If published as a hardback in the same style as their current 12th Doctor novels with a new classic Doctor every month or bi-monthly, I’d part with my hard earned cash.

You’re not alone, if this was a novel I’d buy it like a shot. Audio CD like this, probably won’t be too bothered about getting it. Should be more Doctor Who novels coming out like this

Publish them, please, please, please. I don’t mind if they do audio versions but come on how about an expanded novel version? I’d buy them then.

I agree, haven’t bought an audio story and won’t until one is novelized.

If they did them as target style books or as someone here suggested like the matt smith/peter capaldi hardback novels, I’d happily buy them. But audios are no good to me. I’ve read and collected doctor who books since i was 7 – that’s 40 years now and it frustrates me to know that there are so many novels that i haven’t got because it’s been deemed that audio only is the best option. I’d love to read david fisher’s adaptations of his key to time stories, but where are the novel versions? Shame to have to miss out.

So this is basically what Big Finish do except its straight from the BBC? I don’t see a problem there. SMASHING cover too!

Well, if this were done by Big Finish it would probably have at least one other cast member. This might end up closer to an audiobook than the audiobook/audiodrama hybrids Big Finish tend to do, which at points just have the two actors talking with little to no narration for entire scenes. That being said, I’m still interested to check this out and see what it’s like.

We literally just had a televised story with the First Doctor and WWI less than a month ago. It’s way to soon to have an audio with the same Doctor in the same setting.

Maybe it’s a BBC thing because it comes under the banner of Twice Upon A Time?

Well, BF can do audios with David Bradley portraying the 1st Doctor, so unless there is something to do with 12 in this story, BF could technically have done it.

Why? Justin writes for BF anyway – if this doesn’t impede BF….what’s the problem?

A good story is a good story – just because Justin Richards writes it for the BBC doesn’t make it any worse than if he wrote it for Big Finish.

Oh and I agree, a good story is a good story. I think the idea is….Justin Richards writes for BF anyway. Why bother with this when BBC could use their funds to do stories that BF can’t do. I’m not judging the quality of the story at all, and indeed I am kinda excited for it. I always find DW stories in WW1 to be rather fascinating, especially with the First Doctor 🙂

Hmm, First Doctor and WW1.. So the first Doctor is going to the place that he is with the twelfth. Probably won’t be related to the Christmas special, but who know

Don’t know how i feel about these BBC audios..they should stick to making books and let Big Finish handle the audios…

I don’t necessarily mind them doing 12th Doctor stuff, just because Big Finish doesn’t have the capacity to do 12 (at the moment). And I sorta agree with the 4th Doctor one ‘The Thing From the Sea’, just because that focuses on a character/is a continuation of a series created for BBC Radio. But yeah, stuff like this should just go with Big Finish.
