The ultimate collectors’ edition of the classic 1960s strip.

First published in TV Century 21 from 1965 to 1967, The Daleks was devised by Terry Nation and largely written by Doctor Who’s first story editor David Whitaker.

For this collectors’ edition, all 104 instalments have been digitally restored – the vast majority from the original artwork.

The bookazine also includes new features about the writers, illustrators and publishers who created The Daleks, including a detailed interview with artist Ron Turner.

Editor Marcus Hearn says: “This is the fulfilment of a long-held ambition. I loved this strip as a child and now – having seen the stunning restoration by DWM art editor Peri Godbold and her team – I admire it even more. You can’t really say The Daleks has been restored to its former glory, because I think it now looks better than it’s ever looked before.”

The Daleks is on sale at WH Smith, selected supermarkets from Wednesday 11 November priced £9.99 (UK). It’s also available as a digital edition, priced £8.99, from pocketmags.com.

For any North American buyers still looking for a copy, Diamond distributors has The Daleks on its shipping list for next week, March 31st, 2021. So, comic books stores in North America should expect copies to arrive next week. You may be able to still get your local comic book store to still order copies from Diamond distributors. Depends on how much, if any, stock remains in the warehouse.

      Down to 2! Going, going…

I wonder if all stock of 30 sell out in less than 24 hours.

Glad I got mine already yesterday. In fact, someone else beat me to the first one. 🙂 I got #2. It’s also already shipped.

As it’s not a magazine stores cannot check due dates or order it. It’s a bookazine which come in as and when. If you ask they could check other stores which may have stock. Here’s the barcode to ask in WHSmith 9781846532771.

You absolute legend, FINALLY ordered a copy. They warn it’s not going to ship until mid-December and postage is on the expensive side (£4), but I’ve been looking to replace my now lost childhood copy of Dalek Chronicles for ages, so a few weeks wait and a few extra quid is fine.

I ordered mine while they were in stock last week on forbidden planet. Now my order has changed from processing to pre ordered, saying it won’t be shipped until they have stock on 9th December, which isn’t what I was expecting to happen.

Looks like I won’t get one, quite disappointed to be honest. I’ve been checking my local WH Smith’s as I feel relatively Covid secure in there. But they don’t know when/ if it will come in. I’ve missed all the online opportunities.

If you have this magazine, does it warrant a drive into my city Tesco’s or what?

    I haven’t joined eBay and don’t wish to…

It’s a lovely book with great retro colourful art and glossy pages. WHSmith stores seem to be getting more stock in (my local shop had 2 copies today) and it’s available as a digital copy via pocketmags. The whoshop.com noted at the top of this page seems to be selling the book too.
