no offence to anyone who likes/loves the 13th doctors era but i can not see this issue flying off the shelves when she was the current doctor the magazine did not sell well there was always the last issue with the current one in the shops ..hopefully with time people can look back on that time in the programme now and see some good in it

Did think it wasn’t actually issue 621 I was reading. Almost all of it was Jodie. More like a special tissue not regular. Maybe this also needs a rest of reduce amount of issues to bimonthly. 6 issues a year at £10

There are other readers than you two you know…

      September 13th, 2025 - 2:42pm

We gather that. Just meant there’s more in the Whoniverse then Doc13. Unless they did it as a special issue like they have this month with s13 Tom baker special issue.
Regards to resting it just meant as there isn’t anything until at least 2027 maybe going bimonthly would be better.
A lot of titles have gone this way recently. Even Grazie, match of the day, and yours which used to be weekly are now fortnightly.

i knew someone would take offence LOL ….doctor who is a cult programme but its not a cult movement we all don’t all need to agree on everything

James… the specials sell a little less copies them the regular magazine so maybe if they did a special issue about 13 maybe even less would be sold

They’ve done plenty of issues like this before: the massive interview with Tom Baker in 501 for DWM’s 500th issue which spanned the entire contents of the magazine apart from Gallifrey Guardian which was moved to the back (far more of a ‘special’ than this). Then the Peter Davison interview in issue 503, Terrance Dicks in issue 507 (as part of an issue focusing on the 1970s), and the Phillip Hinchcliffe interview last year. It makes complete sense to do this style, with her return in The Reality War and arrival at Big Finish.

I wasn’t a massive fan of the Chibnall era, but I love Jodie and looking forward to reading when my subscription copy arrives.

You realise if they do less issues the costs will probably increase due to less sales and having staff to still pay. Or staff will have to be let go. Notice you chaps don’t complain when it’s another doctor taking most of the magazine. Personally I’m over the moon we have a jodie issue.

    • Missyrules

      September 13th, 2025 - 6:05pm

Not offended at all. Just pointing out the magazine isn’t just aimed at two fans.

    • James

      September 13th, 2025 - 6:55pm

Wouldn’t have mattered who the doctor was. Just felt it wasn’t a regular issue. It was proportionally focused on Jodie/Doc13. In my view it was a special issue dedicated to one Doc.
Regarda to less issues. What i meant as there isnt any Doctor Who content other than 5 episdoes of WBTLATS in early 2026 it’s around 2 years of nothing. So would make sense to reduce the amount of issues and just concentrate on content and not posters, diaramas etc. Pre 2005 the magazine was just the magazine for £3.99 with the occasional cd/audio disc.
The magazine world is complex different nowadays. Less people buying print as reading online. Salea figures show 2013/2014 6 months of 36,000 average. 2021 sales around 12,000.
Doing less issues at a £10 bi month in my view could help it from ceasing publication.

And its nothing to do with the gender of the reader or the gender or the doctor.

Missyrules the magazine and the programme seams to be aimed at only two fans.well four fans including chris chibnall and russell t davies for years that is why the ratings went down the toilet

    • bbb

      September 13th, 2025 - 9:50pm

Amypondfan i don’t think they should be less of the monthly magazine its only 13 times a year its my regular doctor who treat.. but they could cut down on the specials at 6 a year or more with the bookazines they are running out of ideas if they cut it to 3 a year . either 3 specials or 2 with 1 bookazine just until or if. there is another series then they may have something to put in them

    • beef

      September 14th, 2025 - 9:23am

Yeah, every issue should have David and Tom on the cover and be about them and nobody else. /s

Also why are doctor who fans so bloody illiterate?

  • F D R

    September 12th, 2025 - 4:06pm

for the first time in over a year i found a shop in the real world that had copies of DWM TGjones (really WH smiths ) no waiting days or weeks for it to arrive and paying for the p&p to do so this off line shopping could catch on

Jodie’s interview runs a whopping 23 full pages. When you consider all she and the rest of the cast gave when actually playing the Doctor gave were in effect soundbites this is some going.

Just for the record as far as i can recall Gatwa gave the magazine a single interview, yes one, of about four pages when he first began filming.

The next issue £10.99 next month – with various extras

    • The DR.

      September 11th, 2025 - 2:31pm

Yeah. I just wish they would keep the price down and Avoid all the Extras, Which if I’m honest Nobody asked for. The price is already high enough for the Standard Issue.

    • Matt

      September 11th, 2025 - 3:02pm

In my opinion, if it’s a free target book, then £10.99 is very worth it, but if it’s just posters or paper cut-outs then it’s a bit steep

    • The DR.

      September 11th, 2025 - 8:18pm

Yes Matt, Excellent Value if it comes with a Target book, but otherwise it’s not worth it at all and be honest how many Issues in all these Years have come with a Target Book. (3)?

One of the advantages of subscribing: You’re never stung by any issue being more expensive because it’s bundled with irrelevant extra stuff.

(As it happens, I am actually interested in one of the extra things this time, but all those novelisations we had recently would’ve been annoying if I’d had to pay more to chuck that extra stuff in the recycling!)

  • The DR.

Really Nice Cover, I think One of the best in a long Time. I liked Jodie as the Doctor, a Very Good Dynamic with Yazz. And of Course who doesn’t like Brad?

One of the greatest issues of the magazine. Fantastic interview and full of Chibnal era details and information. My favourite Doctor!

Favorite modern era Doctor! Nice to see a Thirteen focus this issue especially as the fact of fiction ignores her era.
