April 5th, 2024 - 11:20pmthe next one dwm, 603 has a 16 page supplement and art cards like 600 did but instead of being £ 10.99 it well be £9,99
James
April 6th, 2024 - 2:20pmWhy do t they just stick to a price like £5.99. And any extra items (supplements, books, diarama, posters etc) you can send away for if you prove your purchase via a picture of the receipt. Would save on the plastic, boxed or paper wrap magazine on sale. I only buy for the magazine itself and nothing more. Only exception is the 50th which I did buy both versions. Feel I’m not alone in this.
They should also let you subscribe like you can with newspapers. Where by you say do for 12 months and get sent prepaid coupons to redeem in stores. Guaranteed customer for time period and more footfall on the high streets.

Andy R
March 29th, 2024 - 8:35pmAssume the test was successful as saw it in my WH Smiths. 140 issues making a half scale remote control new series Dalek. Also mutant reveal. First issue comes with the eye piece. Hatchette partwork if that helps anyone.

Andy R
March 30th, 2024 - 5:49amI’m Essex based. They normally locate the part works near the newspapers if anyone is going hunting.
James
March 30th, 2024 - 4:12pmMust be a local test partowrk as my local whs can’t find it on the system to stock or to order. Wish they redo the history book partwork and continue them past the 12the Doctor.

March 31st, 2024 - 10:37amFrom what I’ve seen on a vlog on YouTube by a guy who runs a channel on partwork model build-ups, what you are seeing in your WHS now *is* the 4 issue Test. He got his copy when visiting Canvey Island and said that from what could tell, the Essex are is one of the test regions.
Partworks nearly always do a 4-issue test run to see how many ‘bites’ they get. The 4th issue will then usually contain a slip of paper thanking you for demonstrating your interest, that the part-work will now be ‘suspended’ whilst they look at all the data and make their decision. The Figurine Collection (Eaglemoss) and the DW Complete History books (Hachette) did exactly this, and in both cases, the 4-issue test was run about now – March/April – with a view to an Autumn full launch. Be interesting to see how it goes…

March 31st, 2024 - 10:43amFirst issue is only £1.99. but to get the complete dalek its £1600 – £1700 a few years to put it together and if it is cancelled at any time it will be uncompleted … i am sure i could get something good from doctor who for £1600

March 31st, 2024 - 12:23pmIt’s confirmed to be a test partwork and on sale for 4 issues only.
Essex area and maybe odd places around the UK. Market to see how sales go and see if any interest. Normally when test partowrks are complete you can contact the publisher with your receipts details and get a refund or a gift. At £12 a week I can’t see it being a huge seller in the current climate. With normal building partworks roughly at least 100 issues be very expensive.

March 31st, 2024 - 1:28pmBooboo try just typing Dalek Partworks in your search bar and the Hachette Partworks is one of the first options

March 31st, 2024 - 1:40pmYes but that’s the dedicated Dalek page which isn’t shown or linked to on their main website yet.

March 28th, 2024 - 10:25pmI’m surprised by all the negativity around the magazine. Might just be the vocal minority but I think the quality has definitely improved since the previous era. They’re obviously getting more access to the set and talent making the show than they did during Jodie’s run when they were having to make do with scraps seemingly. Most months we get an exclusive picture for the cover and in-depth articles/interviews about the shows production, as well as exclusive information. In Jodie’s time most of the information was just press releases we’d already seen online. The new editor is certainly a different style, but I buy for content that I’m interested in, and there is no shortage of that currently. It’s pricey, I agree, but most print magazines are now, and I’d say DWM remains one of the highest quality magazines on the market. It also doesn’t have an advert every other page, which is something I am happy to pay a pound or so extra for, and is a rarity in the current market. Having said that I have also been impressed with SFX recent coverage of the series as well, but DWM will always have wider coverage.
The Fishmonger
March 29th, 2024 - 7:55amI agree with you. The new editor made a decision to include himself in some of the content of issue 600, which lead to an inordinate amount of hate against him. And since then people seem to have just decided everything he does is terrible. It really is a thankless task trying to make Doctor Who fans happy. This edition is fine. Good info, good comic strip.
Jaykey
March 29th, 2024 - 8:42amI agree too, the magazine has improved. I think it is just popular at the moment to complain about everything. Still thunk DWM is a great read
Anomie
March 29th, 2024 - 9:26amVocal minority seems about right. Some fans just like to complain.
Kevin225
March 29th, 2024 - 1:17pmI’m not one to be negative and overly complain and I’m willing to give someone or something the benefit of the doubt and to give change time to bed in. However I can only go with the evidence of my own eyes, which is to say that I barely read anything of Issue 601 (a handful of pages at best) and this is the ONLY time I have ever done this and I have bought (or had bought for me!) every issue of DWM (& specials) since it started. Issue 602 is a slight improvement but not wonderful IMO.
This magazine is a significant constant of pretty much my entire life and I normally look forward to it arriving every 4 weeks as one of the highlights of the month. I haven’t done that for a few months now (again for the first time EVER). This doesn’t make me negative – it actually makes me quite concerned for the future of something that (this isn’t melodramatic) that I care a lot about. I would love to have 10-15 minutes with the makers to offer some constructive feedback,I really would. The magazine’s access to the show’s production team in the Jodie era clearly is not a patch on the current era, but the actual content of the magazine IMO is vastly inferior.

March 28th, 2024 - 6:29pmThis is the first issue that I have bought in a couple of years. I went in to Sainsbury’s today not even knowing it was out. I can’t comment on some of the previous issues but I disagree with the negative feedback on this one. I think there’s a fair bit to enjoy here.

March 28th, 2024 - 10:50pmagreed there have been worse issues especially between 2018 and 2022
Timelord63
March 28th, 2024 - 6:01pmAnother terrible issue. 7 pages on some puppets that were briefly in last special, 4 page interview with Davina McCall and a bit of a redesign which quite frankly is bland and uninspired.
Magazine has gone really downhill since new editor took over.
DDD
April 11th, 2024 - 6:59amThe Puppet interview was the most boring thing ive ever read in this once great magazine. Also whenever they interveiw a guest from the new series you know its going to be gushing and full of praise.

March 28th, 2024 - 5:45pmHave others not received their subscriber copy yet. Usually get it Wednesday or Thursday.
Kevin225
March 28th, 2024 - 7:47pmYes, my subscriber copy arrived today. It looks like a slight improvement on the last two issues and seems to have a ‘proper’ interview with Millie Gibson.
AlbertoFrog
March 28th, 2024 - 9:32pmAlso not received my sub copy. Hopefully it’ll arrive Saturday, otherwise it’ll be next Tuesday, getting on for a week late compared to the usual Wed arrival.
I’m Batman
April 2nd, 2024 - 9:22amI still haven’t received mine. Hopefully it comes today and is just some Easter business causing the delay.
Bern
March 28th, 2024 - 1:42pmThe editor is sadly killing this once great magazine. Self indulgent, over priced tosh.
Anon
March 28th, 2024 - 4:05pmNot overpriced really. It’s the average price for this type of magazine. If you don’t like it just stop buying it.
PJH1971
March 28th, 2024 - 5:10pmTotally agree, content is not great these days and is well overpriced. Gave up a while back.
Timelord63
March 28th, 2024 - 6:03pmI agree? It’s got worse since Jason Quinn took over and they’ve still not done a rundown of the discs in the season 15 boxset as they’ve usually done?
Bern Windhow
March 28th, 2024 - 7:29pmAh yes, you simply aren’t allowed to have an opinion or ask for better from a product you’ve enjoyed for the last 30 years.
Instead you’re told to stop buying.
When I want the advice of someone hiding under a cloak of anonymity I’ll ask for it. Until then, I’ll give my opinion on something that is currently the worst it’s ever been.
The Fishmonger
March 29th, 2024 - 8:04amWhat do you think is self indulgent about this issue? Seems like a standard issue to me. The current editor first worked for the magazine in 1999. He’ll try new stuff. Some of it will work, some of it won’t. You’re definitely allowed an opinion, but if you don’t enjoy reading it then I’m wondering why you continue to buy it.
Anon
March 29th, 2024 - 12:03pmI didn’t say stop buying it. I said if you don’t like it stop buying it. It’s entirely up to you. But. If you don’t like it and you buy it then why complain? You bought it knowing you don’t like it!
Mark Lightfoot
March 28th, 2024 - 12:35pmI enjoy Dr who magazine a lot and the bookazines two ok
Andrew
March 28th, 2024 - 12:03pmNext issue another 16 page supplement with a 9.99 price tag . I think it’s time to part company with this magazine.
DJS
March 28th, 2024 - 10:46amCant be bothered to read this anymore. After the dire issues 600 and 601 its become a tiring read. Ive decided to stop even though the comic strip is better than average but ill wait for the omnibus version of that . Nothing in this issue, apart from the Hartnell item and Henry House, compels me to buy this.
Henry House has a December 2024 release date according to IMDB.
The Chronicles specials are still excellent though
