May 28th, 2022 - 2:28amReally looking forward to seeing him play the Doctor but I hope his amazing looks aren’t going to be played on too much, companions falling for the Doctor gets very boring very quickly.
Sons of Skaro
May 27th, 2022 - 6:44pmThe subscribers issue cover uses a slightly different shot where he is more in center of the frame and his arms are by his side.

May 27th, 2022 - 10:14amPicked up my copy today. Jim Dale and Dirk Bogarde make guest characters in the comic strip along with the mechanoids. Lots of 60s film articles. Even mention of Tennent and Tate returning.

May 26th, 2022 - 8:20pmDo we know if there are plans for another collected graphic novel of the comic strips? There must be enough for a new one by now.

May 24th, 2022 - 12:05amLooking forward to this. Tons of Dalek movie goodness. Love ’em or loathe ’em, you can’t deny how huge a part they played in the success of the Daleks during the 1960’s. Me? I love ’em.

May 23rd, 2022 - 6:44pmLooking forward to the “brand-new comic strip adventure for Dr Who and his granddaughter, Susan”. Judging by the cover image of Cushing seems it might look good.
Presumably permission would have to be sought from Studio Canal and/or Cushing’s Estate – can’t see Panini wanting to pay much for a separate licence so assuming it didn’t cost much hopefully might lead the way for Eaglemoss to pay and produce a Cushing Doctor for the Figurine Collection? (Unless permission has been given for the strip to promote the new Blu Rays and not cost anything – (not too sure how these copyright issues work).
booboo
May 23rd, 2022 - 6:59pmI think Eaglemoss is the only way forward to “Cushing Films” merchandise now and i really hope it can happen.
There is a limit on what they could do but i would certainly be in for it all.

the 15th doctor
May 22nd, 2022 - 8:22pmnice to have the new doctor on the cover. but it is more a gay times cover then a doctor who magazine cover
Anonymous
May 23rd, 2022 - 12:10pmNot really, being gay has nothing to do with it. Gatwa has never commented on his sexuality as he doesn’t need to. Yes, he has played a gay character but surely you can seperate fact and fiction? I think maybe people are assuming that just because he has a slight ‘camp’ personality, that he is automatically gay. Assumptions like this shouldn’t happen. He might very well be gay, but that shouldn’t matter one bit.
Rory
May 23rd, 2022 - 12:53pmTo be fair, he is quite hot in that picture.
If it gets people excited about a hot Doctor then why not?
Alan
May 23rd, 2022 - 2:33pmBecause this is a children’s show, Rory.
Rob W
May 23rd, 2022 - 4:41pmHow very dare you, I’m a grown-up.There have been some gay themes in previous stories. We’ve a good while to wait yet to see exactly what the new Doctor’s costume might be, but yes he does look rather buff Rory.
Nick
May 23rd, 2022 - 9:09pmAnd? So what if it does look like a Gay Times cover? There’s a wide market for Dr Who nowadays and its fabulous that people can be more open. I do not want to return to the eighties when the word Gay made people feel ashamed.
Rex Farrel
May 24th, 2022 - 12:10amAnon: I’m pretty sure he’s just referring to the look and the pose. (Those mags don’t always exclusively feature gay people on the covers – unless people like Victoria Beckham are going to have a shock surprise from hubby soon…)

May 27th, 2022 - 2:56pmHomophobic comment of the week goes to……….
Demdike@CultLabs
May 22nd, 2022 - 6:58pmInteresting choice of wording there.
Every other time it’s been …. ….. is the Doctor.
Going right back to Peter Davidson is the Doctor.
Fox
May 22nd, 2022 - 7:10pmThe “…is the Doctor” cover tends to come after they’ve become the Doctor on screen.
Demdike@CultLabs
May 22nd, 2022 - 7:21pmYou are quite correct. My mistake.
John
May 23rd, 2022 - 9:18amThe is the Doctor comes after announcement, not after seen on screen. Paul McGann’s was long before he was on screen.
Anon
May 23rd, 2022 - 11:46amMatt Smith had two covers. Who is and Matt Smith is…
Evan Robert Marshall
May 23rd, 2022 - 6:26pmJust to clarify, since the New Series started each new Doctor after Eccleston has only had the traditional ‘…is the Doctor’ cover *after* the regeneration. For David Tennant he didn’t get to have an intro cover before that as the obvious focus was on the Ecclestone series being on TV. Once Parting of the Ways had been broadcast, Tennant then got his ‘…is the Doctor’ cover.
Smith, Capaldi and Whittaker all had intro covers followed by ‘…is the Doctor’ once they appeared on screen. Seems like they’re sticking to that tradition with Gatwa.
Dave Ross
May 22nd, 2022 - 3:53pmThink I might start buying this again
Dalekz
May 22nd, 2022 - 3:30pmThe Doctor will have to wrap up better than that if he visits Telos again lol
Great cover, I look forward to his Doctor’s costume reveal thats always a great moment seeing the new Doctor’s outfit.Looking forward to 14, gonna miss 13 tho!
Mrs Croot
May 22nd, 2022 - 2:07pmJust me or is Ncuti very Giorno Giovana in his outfit?
Loobop
May 22nd, 2022 - 12:55pmi expected this issues cover or at least a feature being about david tennant and catherine tates return, maybe david tennant is busy fully working on his 6 pack ready for his cover photo.
Robert Sienicki
May 22nd, 2022 - 2:54pmNah, they had to do Ncuti cover as he was revealed as the next Doctor. Tennant and Tate will probably be on the next cover, because there is still some time before marketing for Centenery kicks in.
Rex Farrel
May 22nd, 2022 - 3:42pmThe poor guy’s already had his (very understated) announcement overshadowed by the return of Tennant and Tate – it would have been a real kick in the teeth for DWM to do the same. But at least the return of Rusty makes it look like DWM might get some decent production coverage again.
Fox
May 22nd, 2022 - 7:23pmI don’t think it’s been overshadowed at all. There was more buzz for Ncuti’s announcement than Tennant and Tate returning. The former has 3.5x the likes on Twitter and was front page news.
Rex Farrel
May 24th, 2022 - 12:31amI hope you’re right, Fox. The announcement was comparatively low key and around the Internet the usual places quickly moved on to Tennant and co. almost exclusively. Presumably when 10 has finished filming and Ncuti is costumed and out and about it’ll swing back the other way, but to be old news in under a week at least looked a bit mean.

May 22nd, 2022 - 12:30pmJust had a wonderful sunday morning chatting to sylvester mccoyand the really lovely sophie aldred. I did mention the tegan and ace reveal and what they thought of tcuti and yasmine. She told me some personal things which i cannot divulge but she thinks going forward it willj be phenomenal. Sylvester wasnt as forthcoming when i speculated what might happen for the 60th. Best sunday ive had in a long time. Both wonderful people . Got some eight photos and signatures.

May 22nd, 2022 - 1:33pmIt’s ok ergon, I’ve found it
The ergon
May 22nd, 2022 - 3:34pmNo. Coleman just got back after listening q and a sessions at the elsecar heritage with sophie and sylv. Centre. It was heaving. Got advance tickets at the eleventh hour to get to front of qieue and just as well as the queue was a mile long. People in cosplay. Loads of people in star wars outfits with chewbacca and krsanntan, sandpeople and storm troopers etc.. Its my first con and only really went because i missed the sheffield one. Cosplay comps, wrestling allsorts. Glad i went. But it was costly with photos and signings.
Coleman
May 22nd, 2022 - 4:10pmI had to Google Comic con on 22nd of May in England, and Elsecar came up.
Wished I’d known about it I would have gone.
Been to the Heritage centre a few times, they have some good Toy fairs a couple of times a year.
The ergon
May 22nd, 2022 - 4:51pmJust checked the flyers. Mcganns at leeds comic con coleman not rotherham. And other guests are paul kasey, ian mcelliney from jodies second season finale and patricia quinn who played belacz in dragonfire. Theres comic cons all over these days. I might be tempted to go to the sheffield one in october now ive got the con bug.

May 22nd, 2022 - 5:00pmWish i had a chest like ncutis. Looking at my photos with sophie you could see my middle aged spread a little under my jumper. Wish id held my stomach in a bit. Not that im that overweight.
The ergon
May 22nd, 2022 - 7:13pmThat should have been spelt ‘right’ signatures not ‘eight’. Rushing my sentences again.
Coleman.
May 22nd, 2022 - 8:22pmYes, Comic cons are all over the place now. When I googled Local Comic Cons for today, Two came up. One at Elsecar and the other was the Horror con UK at the Magna Centre, Rotherham. That was just for today.
I thought it was that one you had been too at First.
the Ergon
May 22nd, 2022 - 8:55pmI wouldnt have even known if an old mate hadnt seen and got advance tickets. His girlfriend couldn,t go so phoned us and i thought why not? I was a little apprehensive and nervous about what i might say but it was very informal(I expected heavy security) and you could approach them easily at their separate tables and they were very pleasant and mostly accommodating especially Sophie. The Photos were £20 and the personalised autographs £10. I only took £60, so that went there. loads of Ace laminated cards and the same for Sylvesters. I had to ask one of the girls if i could borrow 1 of sylvesters cards which had all the monsters from his seasons for sophie to sign, as Sylv had already kindly signed a Curse of Fenric card for me with Haemovores and Nicholas parsons etc..but he had no problem with that. Talking about the new series though i forgot to ask about their favourite stories and scenes. Overall though best £60 ive spent in a long while. It was a double whammy getting them both together.

May 22nd, 2022 - 9:26pmWhen you say Sophie Aldred told you some personal things, I appreciate you won’t divulge them, but could you just say roughly what area they were about? I’m very curious.
the Ergon
May 23rd, 2022 - 10:00amAll i will say his she told me that your going to love the centenary special. No other reveals. Thats all i can say.

May 23rd, 2022 - 4:46pmYou’ve got a lovely chest the Ergon.
The ergon
May 23rd, 2022 - 5:26pmHaha!,Well thanks for the compliment rob but i prefer to keep it under wraps all the same. Paunches dont seem to be all the rage at the moment.
JR
May 22nd, 2022 - 12:22pmI think Doctor Stu and Sons of Skaro should admit that it’s not Ncuti’s chest they have a “problem” with.
Doctor Stu
May 22nd, 2022 - 12:55pmNot really. In the slightest. I’m gay. Any exposed chest is not a problem for me. Just thought that Doctor who magazine would be the ones to have a better picture of him rather than the same old one that’s being used everywhere. But like I’ve been told, there are probably very few hi res images that exist this soon of him. Love the accusations oozing from you though
Sons of Skaro
May 22nd, 2022 - 2:31pm?????
Sons of Skaro
May 22nd, 2022 - 2:33pmMy comment was meant in jest. But, oh well
Doctor Stu
May 22nd, 2022 - 10:27amWhy do we have to have this exposed chest Doctor picture everywhere? This wasn’t done for any other Doctor.

May 22nd, 2022 - 10:33amIf you’ve got it, flaunt it! I can’t say I mind at all!
Looking forward to this issue very much.
booboo
May 22nd, 2022 - 10:34amthere are probably very few other hi-res images right now and this is the one most people are using and the most recognisable.
Coleman
May 22nd, 2022 - 10:40amYeah, If Jodie Whittaker ever appeared on the front of DWM looking like that, I think their might be a few complaints.
Tim Lord Victorious
May 22nd, 2022 - 11:15amNot from me lol

May 22nd, 2022 - 12:19pmOnly problem is when I get my subscribers copy, it’ll be just that picture with no caption.
