There was no comic strip this month. Has the comic ended altogether?

They’re taking pauses with the comic strip from time to time now due to COVID messing things up…

Ah I see and understand. COVID 19 has put the breaks on everything.

Might buy this. Haven’t bought a Doctor Who Magazine for a while now. However, being a fan of the 9th Doctor, I think this might be worth getting.

I’m the same on the lack of 13, but this is just JOYOUS to see. For me, it’s not just the fact it’s not 13, it’s the way there’s not very much of anything post 2005 really. How many covers and features have we had on the 60s in recent years? This might not be the current Doctor, but I’m very glad to see something a bit more modern back on the front of DWM again.

@Flying Shark – It must be due to the current production team that there’s no publicity when there isn’t a series on.
Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, 2020 were all new series covers but there’s only been two since then and one of those was promoting Revolution. Have a look at this gallery of ALL the magazine covers.
      http://www.tonystrading.co.uk/galleries/comics/drwhomagazine9.htm
When Russell T Davies and Steven Moffat were in charge there were new series covers virtually every issue but that all changed when Chris Chibnall took over. Hell, he doesn’t even come up with a production notes column every issue. His predecessors never missed. The magazine can’t interview people if the producer won’t let them.

Your right, Dem. I knew Chibnall had cut down on the Doctor Who Magazine’s coverage of the current series, not to mention his infrequent and completely lackluster production notes, but looking at that gallery really shows how bad it is. Guys not interested in the magazine at all.

      March 30th, 2021 - 11:43pm

      Thanks, Phasergrim.
I’d hazard a guess and say that both RTD and SM have contributed more to the magazine these past few months than Chris Chibnall.

Whoa. Looking at that gallery makes them sale figures rumours look depressingly true.

      April 3rd, 2021 - 12:27am

Well I suppose it must be pretty intense work to organise the current series under the pandemic so I’m not suprised Chibnall wants to focus on that first and foremost. Hopefully in late Summer, early Autumn we’ll get more 13 covers since the filming might be done so they can talk more often freely about what’s coming up.
And as for RTD and Moffat contributing, I was already guessing that their workload might not be so intense at the moment and in this issue, Moffat said he added to the issue because he was procrastinating work so that’s true!
I’d love to see more 13 but you have to look at how feasible that is at the current time. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to want to be more focused on the show than the magazine. That’s what I think anyway.

@Duff – The lack of input from Chris Chibnal and the current team isn’t because of Covid. It’s always been this way since he took over. The secrecy and lack of info i think keeps the show out of the publics thinking which is something the previous show runners never did.

Russell even took time out to talk to DWM whilst promoting Years and Years recently. I can’t see Chibnall doing the same on his next venture as he barely talks to them now when he’s running the show.

After all this time I don’t really care why he left anymore, I’m glad he’s back in some way though as he’s part of the Who family and I hope he appears for the 60th anniversary.
