Enjoyed reading the latest issue shortly after coming home from Barking, read the Sun newspaper and got straight into reading DWM.

I have to admit, I was a little confused where it says on the cover ’10 YEARS ON’, and I thought to myself that it can’t have been 10 years yet since series 1 was broadcast in 2005, until I then realized that it really ment that it’s been almost 10 years since September 2003 when it was announced that Doctor Who was returning . . . . my bad, sorry 🙂

R.I.P. Angus Mackay who played the original Borusa.

I would to but wasn’t he all modernised and turned all funny looking and had a spin of show ??? If so I wouldn’t want him back

That was K9 Mark I (now Mark 2). Mark II and IV still exist with their original designs.

Kinda reminds me of the first time the 9th Doctor and Rose Tyler where on the cover on DWM together when DWM had it’s first major new series relaunch.

I can remember reading in the following issue after the aforementioned one came out that some bloke said that the new look DWM ‘Smells like a Porn Magazine’, and thinking to myself “Well since I don’t know what a Porn Magazine smells like, I’ll have to take your word for it mate” 😀

Great cover thou for the next issue 😉

same 😀 I think given a chance, and if he hadn’t had such a bad time with the production crew, or whatever his complaint about it was, I reckon he would have been REALLY good

If that’s the case it explains why he declined the offer of returning for the 50th. Richard franklyn was having a right old dig at him in last months magazines big interview.

i know, i read that. To be fair, he is kind of right. When you join a show like ‘Who’, you have to expect the attention from the media, from the fans and ALL of the stuff that comes with the role, things like conventions. I think Chris said that he didn’t get on with the production team at the time, which is why he left (not the producers and execs i don’t think) 😀

    • THE ERGON

      July 17th, 2013 - 5:45pm

I think maybe he took on the role as more of a favour to his old mate Russell t. davies. I don,t know the politics of why he left in such haste, but he never struck me as the type of actor to get typecast in one role however iconic the part. Not only that but when the show came back they didn,t know how the public would react to its comeback.

he is the type of actor who wants to move on and doesn’t look back, however i wonder if he really knows just how much people would want him to take part again in some form

If he had walked on to the stage at the Proms for example it would have bought the house down

can’t wait to read more into it in this issue 😀

      July 17th, 2013 - 6:01pm

Booboo, Didn,t he once say in an interview just after he left the part, that he would definitely do some big finish if asked, or was that just talk to ease the disappointment of fans because he,d left after only one series? Your right about the proms though hes an ubiquitous actor and has been busy with that ‘thor’ sequal.

he said there was more to do with his Doctor – but we dont really know what he meant

It sounded more like he wanted to do a second series if circumstances had been different at the time.

I heard that Chris Eccleston left because there was an incorrect BBC News Report stating his departure after he hinted it at the BBC HQ, so fans were raving at him for leaving. After a few months the BBC said that the report was wrong and that Eccleston had made no official announcement that he was retiring from the role. The fans began raving to the BBC so to keep the peace, Eccleston stepped down from the role. I’m not sure if this is correct but it was on Wikipedia! Never trust them though…

The news report came out well after Eccelston had decided to leave (he might even have filmed the regeneration, although I’m not too sure on the exact dates there).
