We’re only likely to get about 5 more classic releases after this in 2012 – anyone know any definite titles coming up – I’ve heard Krotons is supposed to be?

      2013:
Ambassadors of Death, The Mind of Evil, Terror of the Zygons. MAYBE: The Tenth Planet, The Ice Warriors, The Moonbase.

      March 6th, 2012 - 10:45pm

Hi – thanks for the list, but Ace Adventures and Face of Evil are out before this one, but that leaves 4 more on the list with Krotons so that could be them all.

All the titles that have been officially listed as 2012 releases after death to the daleks:

      1. Krotons
      2. Legacy box (shada/more than 30 years)
      3. Greatest show
      4. Reign of terror
Bonus extra release slot vengance on varos

Planet of giants was provisionally listed (which means subject to change) as a 2012 release but due to the reconstruction of parts 3 and 4 that might change. And with ambassadors restoration work more or less on target for completion any time now its a possibility ambassadors might swap release slots with giants.

Because of the popularity of the seial, I think that ‘The Tenth Planet’ would have a seperate DVD release. I recon that they should add the reconstruction and the narrated audio for episode 4.

That is all the Dr Who DVDs I know that will be released

Woah, what a great cover. Not dissapointed atall, but it’s the story itself I’m unsure about.

Jon Pertwee was known to remark how the Daleks can be ever so boring when they are done wrong, and indeed, they were done badly in this particular story.

Their voices weren’t too bad, but the music when they appear onscreen, just makes them appear unthreatening and stupid, or it ridicules them.

I hope they atleast modify the music and make a special version on this disc, which will be optional. 😀 !

Yes, he probably wanted to go shopping and get his bow tie, a fez and maybe a pack of 12 jammy dodgers. Oh and while there find a companion. Although that couldn’t happen because of the TARDIS and he found Amy.

What would happen if… The Doctor didn’t crash land his TARDIS?

Answer: He would fly away to (let me think…) the Lost Moon of Poosh and Earth would fry but it wouldn’t die. It would turn in to a giant fried tostie floating in space and then Madame Vastra and Jenny would come to eat it lol!
Oh yes Amy is the piece of cheese.

i got this on vhs when i was about 9 years old after watching rememberance of the daleks on tv (1988) and was the first time id seen any other dalek or doctor stories.

Its great, yes the music is annoying in places but i loved it and sarah jane ever since… always remember the tardis scenes -being quite scary with the power gone and having to open the tardis interior doors manually.

Yes it’s a great story. ‘Death to the Daleks’ was my very first Jon Pertwee story I watched, and it was on VHS as an edited 90 minute version. I actually don’t mind Carey Blyton’s incidental music as it’s very suitable for the story and a very different style to Dudley Simpson’s.

Death to the Daleks is one of my favourite stories from the Jon Pertwee era. It was my first official Doctor Who VHS so for nostalgic reasons I also like it. Very underrated story from Season 11 as I think it’s the best of the season!

I hope that one of the extras might be from the BBC’s Screen Test programme from 1975 where Michael Todd showed a clip of ‘Death to the Daleks’ – sadly I can’t remember the question or answer given; but it’s something that has always stayed in my memory. Ooooooh memories…..
