Doctor Who: Colony In Space DVD

Due for release on 24 October 2011.

The Time Lords discover that the Master has stolen their secret file on the Doomsday Weapon and decide to send the Doctor to retrieve it for them.

The TARDIS takes the Doctor and Jo to the desolate planet Uxarieus in the year 2472. There they become involved in a dispute between some beleaguered colonists and the crew of an Interplanetary Mining Corporation (IMC) spaceship over the ownership rights to the planet.

The Doctor learns that the indigenous Primitives and their High Priests worship a large machine tended by a creature called the Guardian.

To Doctor Who DVD Collector (below). ❗ I strongly advise you NOT TO make that purcahse. All of those episodes are being re-developed for improved DVD releases and some are already available !

You would be buying an obsolete copy of them ! Even the picture/sound quality is inferior to the rereleases ! It would be a terrible mistake sir !! :O

The picture quality maybe bad but compared with the picture quality of the vhs version its vastly improved. Look at the clips from the imc needs you documentary to see how bad it was.

I have this dvd. Picture and sound is a huge improvement over the vhs but comparing with other recent dvd releases the quality is quite poor but as its the only version thats available we should be lucky it exists at all.
The story is ok but really should have been a 4 parter. The extras are quite slim but ok. The trailer for unit box is great

I used to but i ditched it. The picture quality was attrocious. And as for the sound it was so bad i stopped watching as i couldnt tell what was being said. Really suprised that bbc worldwide thought that it was worthy of release

The next release after colony in space is the unit box set and and will contain invasion of the dinosaurs and android invasion. Invasion of the dinosaurs WILL NOT HAVE OPTIONAL CGI due to costs being far too expensive on a dvd budget (before anybody asks). It is expected episode 1 of invasion of the dinosaurs will be in colour (currently only available in b and w). No release date is currently set but is expected january.

More info on unit box set.
The unit box set will include invasion of the dinosaurs and android invasion and is due for release in america in 10 january which makes 9 january very likely in the uk.
Invasion of the dinosaurs will have the restored version of episode 1 in black and white with best possible colour version as an extra alternative version and will not have optional cgi. Here is some info and the american covers.

Last i heard mind of evil is going to be the last or one of the last releases in the range round about late 2012/2013. The main reason being episode 1 lacks the chroma dots for the recolourisation process. Episodes 2 to 6 was recoloured in 2008 but it was said some of the colour was poor. Dan hall producer of the dvd range did say in 2009 that some parts are that poor it may get released in b and w with the colour footage as an extra.

Cover isn’t fab, but the episode is a TOP on my priorit list,

will buy this with my own money and ask for the Mannequin-Mania set for my birthday. I also need the new Carnival of Monsters DVD off ebay to tick off my list. 😆

2|Entertain are considering animating ‘Power of the Daleks’, so that it wil be released on to DVD!!! I AM NOT JOKEING!!!!

Thats only a rumour.Wouldnt get exited until it get officially announced by 2/entertain. I doubt it will happen because of the length of time taken to animate plus the very expensive cost of animating a 6 episode story would be outwiths 2/entertains budget. I doubt we will get anything that has more than 2 episodes missing.

Only animated releases i think we will get are Shada (unfinished story with the gaps filled with animation) reign of terror 10th planet and ice warriors. With a slight possibility of rerelease of crusade and moonbase

Well the Unit Boxset will probally be Jon Pertwee releases because it says on wikipedia that “Terror Of The Zygons” and “The Android Invasion” are coming out next year seperatley.

So i think it will be the delayed “Ambassadors Of Death” and maybe “The Mind Of Evil” or “The Daemons”?????

There are far too many single releases stated on wikepidia for next year. Im betting a couple of those single releases will end up coming out in box sets plus wikepidia has been unreliable in the past for future releases . Plus on the bbfc website for the UNIT box trailer it says it stars tom baker so im expecting zygons or androids in the set probably android invasion and as the extras were done at the same time as android invasion im guessing invasion of the dinosaurs.

Most of them are coming out next year (with a couple coming out in 2013 although that will likely just be the reconstructions of The Tenth Planet and The Ice Warriors).

Just found out there is a trailer on this dvd for a UNIT BOX SET. No idea what stories are on it.

Out of the 6 remaining UNIT stories daemons and terror ofthe zygons are better sellers seperate and mind of evil has severe restoration problems and will be left till last so i dont think they will be in it.
That leaves android invasion (which i think will be in it as it is ready for release apparently) and either the delayed ambassadors of death or invasion of dinosaurs
