Doctor Who Character Building – War Games

Doctor Who Character Building – War Games “Doctor Who, Back and Forth”

We have been sent images and information from a member of a Wargames Club – they play Historical and Fantasy Battles using Miniature Figures and Rules, like a chess game.

The Club travels the country promoting their hobby at Wargame shows and have planned a game using character Building products. Club members have written the rules, which are very simple, and they have designed a game which will be displayed at various shows over the UK next year. Their test run so to speak will be at Warfare 19th and 20th of Nov this year and then next year at various other shows. you can find their website Here.

The game is what they call a participation game where members of the public come along and join in – so all are welcome. Its hoped it might encourage the young to make their own playtime games.

The game is being built up as CB sets are released and the images show the set up so far – all they are waiting for is the Tardis Console Set to be released which is the final part of the game.

The story is as follows…

Daleks in a Secret Underground Bunker are drilling into the core of War torn Skaro hoping to alter the Planets Magnetic Field and Pilot whats left of their Homeworld to safety, before the Doctor, who is on route with UNIT backup, deploys the Hand of Doom to turn Skaro Supernova again and thus ending the The Daleks forever – again!

Cybermen have learnt of the Dalek plan and want the technology for them selves…

The game stage is an underground bunker enitrly made of lego surrounded by a cave system made of CB Angels sets – lots of them so far 25 approx and a Dalek Factory and eventually a Tardis Console set.

The idea is that the public control 3 Cyberman Teams and one Dr Who Team with Clerics, all CB figs, and try to invade the Dalek Base – Cyberman have to take it over and the Clerics with the Dr have to blow it up – it will be a timed game with a wonderful Clock counting down the minitues before the Hand of Doom ( Revenege of the Daleks ) blows everyone up!

If the Doctor is killed then he regenerates backwards hence the eleven Doctors set.

To the pictures – and very impressive thay are to. The group is currently awaiting the Tardis Pay set to expand the game further…

Hand of Doom? Revenge of the daleks?
shouldn’t it be Hand of Omega and Remembrance of the daleks?

    But seriously looking good!

Hi, We Had 3 Teams of 10 Cybermen Each, 1 Team of 10 Clerics with the Doctor Amy, Rory and River oh and not forgetting K9. Then the Bunker which all these teams were invading was occupied by around 23 Daleks; however after the battle started the Daleks switch on the Dalek Factory and every Dalek turn a New Dalek was constructed and released.

Hope that helps and thanks for looking

      kind regards

This is the best thing i have ever seen. I love how they painted the daleks and it must have taken a long time for them to get all that stuff. They must of used lego, mega blocks, character building, and them stands look like the stands they use for warhammer. My brother has lots of stands what look like them stands

Saw this game being played at Salute today and it cracked me up. It looked amazing and I know my older sister would love it as she is a true Hoover or whatever you Who fans call yourself. If there is a rules set and suggested kit to buy let me know cecause that will be Christmas made easy this year. 😉
Thanks for bringing a smile to my face.

It boggles the mind how much they must have spent to build that, legos are seldom cheap. I’d love to see an actual game like that made. Now all they need to do is make some figures based on the early series like the old Cyber Empire, Unit, Torchwood, Jadoon and Sontarans.

Pity I’m in the US and count come to see any of the shows.

It would cost hundred of punds though, probablly £500 at least, not including the figures.

      August 14th, 2011 - 11:07am

something like £100 with the figures

      August 15th, 2011 - 2:01pm

Hi Sorry to let you Know but the cost is a lot more than £100 or even £500 – As a gamer and playing this game at shows and at our club the investment is worth it and not unusual. Plus this is just one varient of the many games we plan to play with the figures and scenery, not just Dr Who!

      Again thanks for the Interest

      kind regards

The London Show will at the EXcel Centre its the biggest Wargames show in England and well worth a trip – although it is quite expensive to get into. It will be called Salute 2012 and normally it’s in April – I will confirm dates as when we get confirmation that we will be there. As for Character Building we asked if they wanted to support us but they were not interested at all, which I think is a shame but still that’s there loss
