This four-disc limited edition collector’s set includes special episodes and over 7 hours of extras:

• The Name of the Doctor

The Series 7 finale, starring Matt Smith. The Doctor has a secret he will take to his grave. And it is discovered…

• The Night of the Doctor

Special mini-episode ‘The Night of the Doctor’ to reveal the Doctor’s dark chapter.
Starring Paul McGann, this BBC iPlayer exclusive will for the first time ever reveal what became of the 8th Doctor. On the eve of his most terrible battle, the Time Lord is faced with a choice that will change the course of his life. The darkest of days are about to begin.

The Doctor has always been a man of secrets – and now they can be told…

• The Day of the Doctor

The Day of the Doctor stars Matt Smith, David Tennant, Jenna Coleman, with Billie Piper and John Hurt. The Doctors embark on their greatest adventure in this 50th Anniversary Special: in 2013, something terrible is awakening in London’s National Gallery; in 1562, a murderous plot is afoot in Elizabethan England; and somewhere in space an ancient battle reaches its devastating conclusion. All of reality is at stake as the Doctor’s own dangerous past comes back to haunt him.

• The Time of the Doctor

The Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith, takes the controls of the TARDIS for the last time in The Time of the Doctor. Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe’s deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars. And amongst them – the Doctor. Rescuing Clara from a family Christmas dinner, the Time Lord and his best friend must learn what this enigmatic signal means for his own fate and that of the universe.

• An Adventure in Space and Time

On November 23rd 1963, a television legend began when the very first episode of Doctor Who was broadcast in the UK on BBC One. Fifty years later, An Adventure in Space and Time brings to life the story of the show’s creation and the role in its success of the first producer, director and, of course, the very first Doctor – William Hartnell.

Mine came today from Zoom thankfully the same amount of time as my last preorder with them the next series 8 Blu ray collection is ordered with Amazon as I had a voucher to use so that’s it for Zoom sadly as over the last 4 yrs I’ve spent nearly £600 on Dr who Blu rays and it’s been a pleasure dealing with them and will be sadly missed whatever becomes of them come April ?.

    • daz

      February 9th, 2021 - 7:36pm

Totally agree Deano. I will miss Zoom when they vanish. Been great for Who and other Bluray’s I collect.

My final order will be Season 8.

Apart from Amazon who do people recommend for future sets from a packaging/delivery arriving in tact point of view.

I tend to order 2 and cancel the other when Zoom delivery arrives early. Hmmm…

Zoom just cancelled my order. Absolutely infuriated. Crazy that this is the only steelbook that sold out on pre-order at every retailer. Lower print run perhaps? Hope there will be another opportunity for myself and others.

      February 9th, 2021 - 12:07pm

it was bound to be popular but also the only real way to buy it is on-line which may explain the sell out, there are probably numerous copies stacked somewhere that would have been normally been in stores.

      Thedoctor1104.

There’s a few listed on eBay. Cheapest buy it now is £47. Guessing a lot of scalpers got them to sell on again.

      Hope you find one.

      February 10th, 2021 - 1:31pm

still worth keeping an eye on ebay, a lot of retailers , Argos, Zoom, HMV have sold via them in the past

  • Things that go bump in the night

    February 8th, 2021 - 5:58pm

And it arrived this lunchtime…. despite the Amazon “it’s delayed” message from Friday 5th.

A thing of beauty, nice artwork, although disc content *looks* to be identical to the original release.

I haven’t tested if the Day of the Doctor is the corrected frame rate – as in the replacement discs from the original set.

    Enjoy!

For those wondering you can put the 3D disc of DOTD in the box too as there is room if you have it like me.

Also the discs have different images to the original 50th set.

    The artwork is beautiful.

Roll on Series 8, 9 and 10 of this range!

How confident are you that there’ll be a series 8, 9 and 10 in the range? I’d love to own them… but do like the Capaldi soft-boxes, especially series 9.

    • daz

      February 6th, 2021 - 4:07pm

Very. The original Series 8, 9 and 10 were limited editions released at the same time as standard bluray’s and dvd sets.

This collection, is a seperate limited edition range hence the generous price point.

Series 10 will no doubt include the ‘Twice Upon A Time’ disc too.

I expect they will release Series 11 onwards again further down the line.

    • Crosby

      February 9th, 2021 - 2:43pm

No in mine you can’t only room for 4 discs and I have 4 discs so you must be a lucky one

    • Coleman

      February 9th, 2021 - 3:15pm

Seems like youve got a very ‘limited’ limited edition daz. Mines like Crosby’s, four discs and four spaces, no room for anything else.
      Well done.

    • daz

      February 9th, 2021 - 7:41pm

No it is 4 disc holder but you can stack 2 on one of them. Got my 3D one in disc 3 position and put discs 3 and 4 in disc 4 position.

Coz disc 2/3 tray closes above disc 4 tray it is secure.

I know some don’t like stacking discs but I prefer them to all be in 1 set.

    • Coleman

      February 9th, 2021 - 8:09pm

I dont mind stacking them, as long as they don’t scratch it isnt a problem.

Not keen on Amazon, used to order a few hardback books from them and even though they came in a cardboard sleeve the corners were always bashed on the book itself.
Not looking forward to seeing the condition of the Collections in future. Might try Hmv or even Base in future after this steelbook purchase.

Wasn’t there a problem with the original 2D version of the Blu-Ray of this episode ???
I vaguely remember when I re-watched that episode on my TV back in April some of the episode didn’t fill up the entire frame.

I think I read somewhere it was a problem with the 2D to 3D Conversion or something, I’m not really an expert but I do remember reading that this was a problem only with the Blu-Ray release.

Any constructive / helpful comments would be great 🙂

Ah, well I well missed the boat on that as I recently upgraded all my New Who DVD’s to Blu-Ray. I think I bought that Blu-Ray in February 2020 from Forbidden Planet in London, so I wouldn’t have heard about this issue 🙂
