Character Options reveals its next Online Exclusive, The Doctor Who Thirteenth Doctor Regeneration set

This fabulous collector’s set, Doctor Who Day, for delivery in January 2023

Character Options has revealed details of its latest exclusive Doctor Who collectors set titled ‘The Regeneration Set.’ The set takes its inspiration from the fantastic finale of ‘The Power of the Doctor’ featuring the Thirteenth Doctor’s final story. The episode debuted on Sunday 23rd October 2022 and stunned fans and news wires alike as the face of the Fourteenth Doctor was revealed after the Thirteenth Doctor’s epic, and final battle.

This new set is a fabulous and hugely distinctive set unlike anything produced previously and will hopefully firstly surprise fans and collectors alike and then delight them with its details and uniqueness.

The figures represent a one of a kind treat for collectors, as the set contains not one but two brand new Doctor Who action figures in the 5.5 inch scale available exclusively in this set and nowhere else.

First up is the Thirteenth Doctor in the ‘taunting’ multi-Doctor outfit, inspired by her past incarnations after a forced regeneration into the Master. This figure of the Thirteenth Doctor has been modified to be correct to the detailed look of the Doctor’s outfit in this story with details from the Second, Fourth, Fifth, Seventh and Tenth Doctors’ iconic outfits replicated in detail.

The second figure in the set introduces a brand new figure of the Fourteenth Doctor which features his brand new look including the head sculpt with unique hair style, as well as his outfit which features, the textured dark blue calf length coat, rumpled plaid waistcoat and trousers, heavy weave silver tie, and warm grey plimsoles. This figure also includes ball jointed shoulders for added articulation.

The packaging alone is exceptional featuring a brand new ‘Fifth panel window box’ format with a unique graphic look, which feels very unlike any collector pack to date, and has a physical format which would not look out of place on shelf or in a display cabinet. The pack graphics have been designed to look bold and fresh and feature a bright white matt card finish with a high gloss UV overprint that picks out key details including the new Doctor Who logo. The flip open front panel has a cut-out lozenge shape which reveals the set name and then leads us into the pack proper. Opening the front panel we find on the reverse side, a brief bio of the characters, and a short story synopsis, and on the right is a window displaying both figures against a swirling Vortex themed background.

Al Dewar Creative Director for Character Options commented: “We all felt it was a genuine delight to see the Thirteenth Doctor’s era end on such a powerful note and as hard as it must have been to follow that, the genuine surprise reveal of her next incarnation in the form of the Fourteenth Doctor was mind blowing!

“Obviously we had a huge help from BBC Studios and Bad Wolf Studios in creating this new item and everyone has been massively invested in bringing a set to fans that really stands out as a celebration of this iconic part of Doctor Who history. We therefore cannot thank Russell T Davies, the brand team and BBC Studios enough for their huge help. It’s a real testament to everyone involved that this particular set has turned out to be such an amazing item and presented in this frankly shockingly fabulous packaging. The results speak for themselves and this is a real unique opportunity to add something truly special to your Doctor Who Collection.”

Set contents are as follows:

  • Thirteenth Doctor Action Figure with Sonic Screwdriver accessory
  • Fourteenth Doctor Action Figure

The Regeneration Set is a true one off and limited in supply, making it yet again a true exclusive and demand for this two pack is likely to be high. The set will be available to pre-order today at a retail cost of £29.99 which includes post and packing. The sets are due to be in stock to our warehouse in very late December and will be dispatched shortly after Christmas to avoid any delays in the mail system which might affect our customers. Updates will be issued if anything happens that affects these dates.

I wonder if Character has ever considered making regeneration energy to attach to the figures. It would make for an amazing display piece.

I mean they could they did electric effects for season 7 cyberman figurs and the silence, so could make a slight remould of those but in an yellow gold ish color

We definitely need a classic series Master 3 pack. Delgado, Ainley, and Pratt reissues…

That would be great. Ainley in his ‘main’ outfit though, with the gold collar. Delgado in his Terror of the Autons outfit and Pratt, obviously, in his only attire he wore.

    • Philip Shaw

      November 27th, 2022 - 1:13pm

I’d settle for a planet of five suited Ainley Master as I don’t have it.

    • Rex Farrel

      November 27th, 2022 - 3:33pm

An Ainley master in his regular outfit was a notable omission when the range was doing well. I wonder what the story there is…

    • MARK BELSOM

      November 27th, 2022 - 7:18pm

Copyright issues stopped more Ainley Master figures I believe.

    • Bundy

      November 28th, 2022 - 8:40am

My understanding is that it is the cost to do the outfit justice that is the stumbling block rather than any rights issues. Hopefully the higher price of on-line packs will allow this to happen. An adversary of 4, 5, 6 and 7 (plus you can add in more from the 5 Doctors), to not have this figure is such an omission.

    • TheOncomingStorm

      November 28th, 2022 - 9:20am

Yeah, a 3 pack for each Doctor could allow that. Enemies of the 3rd Doctor set with Omega, Delgado Master and an Axon, 4th Doctor set with Sutekh, a Zygon and The Decayed Master, 5th Doctor set with Ainley Master, Black Guardian and The Reaper (from Visitation), a 6th Doctor set with a Cyberman, a Sontaran and one of those Timewarp monsters, a 7th Doctor set with pretty much any villains from his era and an 8th Doctor set with Roberts’ Master, Grace and Lee.

      Wishful thinking but who knows?

Ordered! It’s Royal Mail who deliver (as previously confirmed by booboo) and I assume they’ll send me an email when it’s dispatched.

You’re connected to the PayPal page but you DO NOT need a PayPal account, there’s an option at the bottom to select Card.

Put your details in and select no to creating a PayPal account, if you don’t want one.

Hope this helps anyone who, like me, is a newbie and has never used them before. I’d also like to thank this whole forum/community for the support and info over the past few days.

I just wish that Character didn’t charge 20 pounds for shipping overseas! At least the subtract the VAT, so that the item cost is 25 pounds. Still 45 pounds, or $55 US is a lot for two figures. That said, I’ll sure I’ll cave and buy it for the latest Doctor, and a pretty nostalgic 13 Doctor outfit.

    • Judooning

      November 25th, 2022 - 2:16pm

There’s definitely gonna be stock left by Saturday. I imagine the next big spurge in sales will be when it’s released and people start posting images and reviews. People who might have missed the memo or just forgotten to order will place their orders.

    • TheOncomingStorm

      November 25th, 2022 - 3:08pm

That makes sense yeah. I do wonder what this means for future releases of the 14th Doctor. It feels as though this will be a one off exclusive so maybe there won’t be another 14th in this format for some time, if at all.

Hopefully the next new release is a 60th Donna.

  • Arthurian3

    November 24th, 2022 - 11:43am

This is really promising. Old Rusty has obviously had this in the pipeline for a while and we haven’t even had the specials on TV yet. This looks like we might get a decent 15 sculpt too and maybe companion. Also with talk of new Daleks although I can’t see bargain B&M getting the deal so maybe new stuff could be limited to CO or another distributor. Yes they will be more expensive but hopefully they will be easier to get hold of.

It’s a stunning set for sure, I’m surprised we got a 14th Doctor figure so quickly. The release is slated for early January. I’m thinking they’re gonna surprise us with a late December delivery honestly. To capitalise on that Christmas market.

Quick side note aswell, I heard from a friend who’s on Facebook (I’m not so can’t confirm) that they’re doing a War Doctor and TARDIS as the next set for B&M. Has anyone heard anything or not?

The Power of the Davies. I bet Russell pushed HARD to get this set released this quick and keep the forward momentum going, particularly as Fourteen is literally up and running in other media.

I wonder HOW early “early January” is? As in “possibly late December but we’re hedging our bets in case of unforeseen delays”? I imagine RTD being quite keen to see this hit the Christmas market.

If not, hopefully early enough in January that it gets here for my birthday. Might help to alleviate the frustration resulting from my attempts to get hold of the Bradley TARDIS set for Christmas.
