Doctor Who follows the adventures of the last Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey who simply goes by the name “The Doctor”. At the end of the 2013 season, The Doctor regenerated into his new form and new personality, and is portrayed by legendary Scottish actor Peter Capaldi.

12th-doctor7501

This new incarnation, the Twelfth Doctor, is a spiky, brusque, pragmatic, yet funny, passionate and fearless character who travels with his companion, Clara Oswald. His adventures with (and without) Clara in the 2014 season lead him to make tough and ruthless decisions that make him question his character and the value of his travels.

This all new 5 inch tall figure showcases the new look The Doctor takes on after the regeneration, featuring his now signature dark blue Crombie-style coat with red lining, dark blue trousers, a long collared white shirt buttoned to the top with no tie, and brogue boots. He also comes with his trusty sonic screwdriver.

Taking onboard the comments about his height, and that it says 5.5 inch collector series on the box, does this mean its a completely new range from the original 5 inch, and that more figures will appear in this format?

I got mine earlier today, and aside from the fact that I can’t get the head off to swap it for the superior version from the TOTD set, I absolutely love it.

I am annoyed that the cardigan wasn’t included though, but I’m already working on ways to fix that.

The height doesn’t bother me either. Peter does strike me as being very tall anway, so it’s fine with me.

The only thing i found bizarre about the figure is that when you put it side by side with all previous doctor figures it not only dwarves them but is taller than the new era cyberman sculpts. It is considerably over sized…

Well the 9th doctor figure from the Toys R Us Doctor & Dalek set is only as tall as the 12th doctor figures shoulders

I got mine today too and was pleasantly surprised with the head sculpt. I had seen photos and watched a review on Youtube, but it definitely looks better ‘in the flesh’ so to speak. I was in two minds about ordering this figure, but I’m really glad I got it now.

I hope if they do make a figure based on his outfit from series 9 they actually make a newer head sculpt with the longer hair.

If they make a series 9 Hoodie 12th Doctor I bet there will be tons of variants of tops:

.White top with tartan trousers with swappable head with (spoiler) sonic glasses.
.Black top with black trousers with swappable head with (spoiler) sonic glasses.
.(Last Christmas) Black Polka Dot top with black trousers.

might seem a daft question but when you say in store you mean online one as well as actual local stores?

    • booboo

      September 15th, 2015 - 3:55pm

most toys r us exclusives just turn up in store (like the B&M stuff) and it usually takes a while for it to go on line

They did put some of the Doctor Dalek sets up for pre order before stocks arrived in their shops

either way we will have the info “the day it happens”

If they decide to make a Red Velvet coat version from series 9 they would use this figure paint the coat red, add a waist coat and swap the head with the TOTD head sculpt and lighten the hair.

As much as I like the red coat, and the blue crombie and hoodie look, I’m sad that he doesn’t wear the blue crombie, white shirt, and waistcoat in series 9.

the packaging is very sensible as you can get a really good took at the figure if you like to “choose”

Problem with the Time of the Doctor and Sherlock is the packaging gets mauled by people opening every one to check the paint apps

Has anyone got a good method for keeping the end of the Doctor’s Crombie coat held back, so that you can see some of the red lining when looking at the figure from the front?

You could move back the jacket, then put his hand down (like in the picture) which will stop it from moving forward.

Wow, FANTASTIC figure! I want all four now!

The head looks much better and much more like Capaldi than it did in 3.75″. I also prefer it to the one featured in the Time of the Doctor set (although I’ll have to see how it looks in-hand before I make that judgement).
I also love the coat lining.

I will try to get the purple/red or the black one.
Depending on their availability and price I may get both.
I hope we get a red coated S9 model too!
